“How are you doing?” Malik asked as his fingers played in hair while I was resting on his chest.
“I’m fine.” I wasn’t and he knew it. Mari could be dead and Apollo had her God knew where. Malik knew me well enough to not call me on my bluff. Instead, he pulled me closer to him. Being his mate was the best thing that’s ever happened to me. After losing so much, our family and our land, we have a place to call home. We have a family again. As worried as I am for my sister, I also know that she’s strong enough to keep fighting. She wouldn’t let Apollo win that easy. Still, I’m anxious about what he planned.
