Rich waits until Donnie collapses to the blood-strewn tiles, his breath heavy snores that hurt Rich’s chest to hear them. Then Rich draws a large dose of the serum into a needle and enters the keycode to unlock the lab door.
Inside the room, the smell of death almost gags him. There is an elaborate shower system wired into the room’s ceiling; one press of a button in the lab and Rich can have the room hosed down with chloride and bleach in less than five minutes. But the chemicals are caustic, and Donnie didn’t manage to stumble all the way back to his cage before the sedative kicked in. With a possible cure in his hands, Rich doesn’t want to lose his lover now to a chemical bath.
