One thing Matt could say about the workshop—they took a break every hour and a half, whether or not the participants needed it. The thing started at nine; at ten-thirty, they had coffee and muffins. At twelve, it was a catered box lunch, sandwiches with a side of potato salad or cole slaw, a soda, and cookies. At two, another break for afternoon refreshments, which consisted of more soda and candy bars this time. At three-thirty, they stopped again to stretch their legs and head to the restrooms, but Matt suspected there would be something to snack on when they returned. He had never eaten so much in one day. And he hadn’t learned a damn thing about improving his management skills, either. During each break, he took his winter jacket with him, afraid to leave it unattended in the room.
