The last thing I remembered was Ashton carrying me to bed. I opened my eyes, the soft sunrise seeping through the windows. Ashton was sleeping comfortably next to me. Everything came rushing back, and my eyes squeeze shut as tears escaped. I must have sniffled because Ashton’s eyes flew open.
“Adelina?” He said, wrapping his arm around me. “What’s wrong?” A soft sob escaped me, and I covered my mouth with my hands. “Adelina?”
“It’s nothing.” My words were strangled as I shoved my palms into my eyes. He frowned at me, lifting his head off the pillow.
“I can feel it’s not nothing through the mate bond, let alone see it’s not nothing.” His voice was gentle, but it felt probing. “You have to tell me someday. I can’t help you otherwise.” I nodded, wiping at the rest of the tears that kept
