Chapter 10For the first time in his life, the din of the casino floor did nothing to soothe Shane’s ragged nerves. He fidgeted at the edge of his section, only half paying attention to the various tables. His gaze kept scanning the crowd, always on the lookout for a familiar dark head standing over the others and the tinkle of a familiar woman’s laugh. It had been over a week since the funeral, nine days since he had last heard Lucky’s voice, two hundred and sixteen hours since he’d been buried inside Stella’s body, almost thirteen thousand minutes since he’d stormed out of their suite, confused and overwhelmed and convinced Lucky had finally decided to be done with him.
He hadn’t seen or heard either of them since.
