CHAPTER THREEThe stagecoach stopped at a Posting inn for luncheon and Basil Banks managed to secure a table for the four of them.
They did not have to sit with the rather rowdy men who had been on top of the coach.
They, however, made up to Kitty and Daisy, asking them why they did not come and sit on top with them.
“I don’t trust you not to push me over the side!” Kitty replied.
She was laughing as she spoke and looked so pretty that Donela could understand when the man said,
“Aw, come on! You needn’t be afraid – I’ll hold you tight.”
“That’s what I am afraid of!” Kitty retorted pertly and the other men guffawed.
Donela knew that her mother would have been shocked, but she thought that it was all just good-humoured light-hearted chaff.
