Part 2: The Mage’s Lad
Chapter 13
Four men sat in the War Room of the Keep, Daeron, his father Malcolm, the mage Castien, and Castien’s extremely upset young lover, Theirn.
The lad had already been quite unhappy Castien was to be sent on a mission and his lover planned to leave him behind. Then, when Theirn had found out where Castien was to be sent he had exploded in a mixture of fear and anger. It took time before he calmed down sufficiently to tell the others why.
“I know that island, I know the people who live there, or I did once upon a time,” Theirn told the others.
“Pardon me; what are you trying to say?” Daeron asked harshly.
“That it was my homeland before I managed to escape,” Theirn replied. “Did you think I was always a thief who lived on the streets?”
