Instead of calling out to Lachlan, I focused on Dr Frankel. He’d said Lachlan could send me visions, make me see things that weren’t there. Could I do the same to Dr Frankel?
Sucking up my courage, I fought to get through to Dr Frankel’s mind. I could feel him hovering over me, feel his anticipation as he prepared to make the first cut. I could see myself, face scrunched up in fear on the operating table. I was looking through his eyes. I latched on to that thought, forcing an image of him letting me go to replace the one of him cutting into my eye.
He winced, giving a mental shrug as he tried to dislodge me from his mind, but I latched on even tighter, determined to make him see what I wanted.
