Punishment

Thankfully her clothes were dried, she wore them and brushed her hair before walking out of the bathroom to see Lucian dressed in a blue sweater and black pants. She wondered where he had found clothes while h he was wearing.

She sat down by the bed as she watched him arrange his things in his bag.

"Let's go, they will be waiting for us now". Lucian said as he walked out of the room leaving Emily behind.

The weather was so much clearer and the roads were looking better. In an hour time they got to the camp where a couple of teachers were waiting for them.

"Oh my God, Emily" Anaya ran, throwing her arms around Emily as soon as she stepped out of the car. "You stupid girl, I am so scared"

"I am sorry for scaring you, and I am good". Emily hugged her friend too. It felt good seeing Anaya again.

The head teacher took the girls back to their rooms while the other teachers spoke to Mr Lucian.

"Sweet lord, you shared a bed with Mr handsome. I am so jealous" Anaya almost streamed in surprise.

"Shut up Anaya, you don't have to be so loud. And nothing happened so don't make a big deal about it". Emily rolled her eyes at her friend.

"It is a big deal!!!!, I fell hot just thinking about it" Anaya said, fanning her face with her hand.

"Come on, don't be dramatic Ana. Let's just get over it please". Emily brushed it off with her hands.

"Yeah, yeah. Whatever you say" Anaya pulled Emily close to her as they made their way outside, today was the last day of their camping so they would be returning back to their school soon.

They got back to the school by noon and the girls returned to their dorms to prepare for the next day classes.

Emily was on her way to the cafeteria when a teacher called her name.

“Miss Salvadore” The white haired man called her, his eyes scanning her as he adjusted his glasses.

“Yes sir”. Emily replied politely, she didn’t know what the problem was now.

“The chancellor will be needing you in his office now” The man said and walked away without waiting for a response from her.

A sigh left Emily’s lips as she made her way to the principal’s office which was way other the hallway.

She placed a gentle knock on the door as she opened the door, her heart skipped a bit as she saw the back of Mr Lucian sitting across the chancellor who didn’t have a pleasant look in his face.

“Good afternoon, you called for me Mr Henry” Emily stood by the door as she spoke.

“Yes I did, have a seat. We have a lot to discuss about”. Mr Henry pointed at the chair in front of him.

Emily made herself comfortable on the chair as she stared at the chancellor trying hard not to look at the man beside her, their arms were almost brushing each other from where they sat.

“I heard what happened from the teachers and I am glad you are fine. But you should know that your actions have consequences child. You left the surroundings of the camp and wondered into the woods. If you wanted to make a call you should have notified any teacher for help”. Mr Henry spoke.

“I am sorry, that was clearly irresponsible of me and that will not happen again”. Emily apologized, that was the best she could do at this moment.

“I am glad that you fell remorse for what you did but I can not simply let it go. You will have to be punished for disobedience, and for your punishment you will be assisting Mr Lucian here in the library after school hours for a month” Mr Henry said with full seriousness.

“What?!” Emily’s jaw nearly dropped at his words, what kind of punishment was that? She didn’t want to be in the same space with this man.

“Is there a problem Miss Salvador?” The chancellor asked her.

“Yes...can I get another punishment?” She whispered to the man.

“No you can not, that is my final decision. So off you go, your work starts tomorrow”. Mr Henry flashed her a wide smile as he clapped his hands together.

Emily slumped in her chair feeling exhausted and angry, she turned her head to look at the man beside her but his face held no expression, it was also at if he didn’t care about what the chancellor said.

She stood up from the chair and walked out of the office slamming the door behind her, Lucian followed as he also walked out of the office leaving Mr Henry alone in his office.

“Well that was easy”. His smile widened as he pulled open one of his drawers and brought out the envelope in it, opening it greedily, his eyes glimmered as he saw the content in the envelope.

Emily was quite and depressed throughout the day even though Anaya tried to cheer her up saying it was a blessing in disguise. Emily had no idea why her friend was obsessed with that man.

The next day came by quickly and Emily couldn’t be more irritated, she tried to focus on her classes as they went by. The bell went off indicating the end of the day’s classes, reluctantly she went to her dorm to freshen up and start her so called punishment.

“Hey bestie” Anaya walked into the room with a bag of chips in her hand.

“Hi” Emily answered as she pulled her hair in a tight bun.

“Oh my goodness girl, can you stop behaving like you were told to work with the devil” Anaya rolled her eyes at Emily

“Easy for you to say, and yes he is the devil” Emily replied as she stared at herself in the mirror.

“Yes, a handsome devil” Anaya whispered which made Emily scoff as her. “Anyways, enough of the hot man I need to tell me if my butt look big in this skirt” Anaya turned around pouting her butt to Emily

“Your butt looks fine Anaya and who are you trying to express this time? Charles?” Emily asked, her arms crossed on her chest.

“Charles? Who’s that?...oh no not that weird boy, I am so over him. It’s this new boy Rylan, he is so cute and he likes girls with big butt and also has a thing for Indians” Anaya said flipping her hair dramatically.

“Alright then, good luck with him, I pray you find happiness with him” Emily said to her friend, she had tried to advise Anaya on her behavior but the girl couldn’t change.

“Thank you bestie, and I pray you marry the handsome devil, I am so shipping both of you” Anaya winked at her.

“No way in hell Ana, Anyways i am off to my misery. I will see you later” Emily bid her friend goodbye as she walked out of the room.

When she got to the library it was also empty as it was currently a few minutes past four, a sigh escaped her lips as she scanned the place for her arch enemy. And she saw him, there he was standing gloriously by the shelf

“So what do you want me to do now?” She walked up to him with a straight face.

“Go over there and arrange the books in that shelf” He pointed to the other side of the room without looking at her.

How rude! She said to herself and began working, she took time to time off to look at him and was surprised to see him just sitting there scrolling through his phone.

She decided to ignore him and go back to work, after working for an hour, she had finally finished organizing the shelf, she wiped the sweat off her forehead and turned to look at the librarian who was still on phone.

“I am done” she said to him in a harsh voice, “Alright, go over there and arrange those books”. As the words left his lips, Emily’s anger and irritation increased. “Look here sir, I can not be doing all the work while you just sit there doing nothing if I remember correctly this is your work not mine”. Emily said between her gritted teeth.

And the man ignored her completely like she wasn’t even talking to him, “How dare you?” Anger streams were pouring out of Emily’s head now, she pulled the phone out of his hand and tossed it to the table behind them. “I am speaking to you”
