I ring the doorbell and turn to look at Jake.
"Please remember." I gesture with my fingers. "Zip your lips."
Before Jake can reply, the door swings open.
Anna stretches her arms wide open and pulls me in a tight embrace. It's a surprise she doesn't stain my floral dress with the creamy cake in her hand.
When she steps back, I introduce her briefly to Jake. She throws him a small smile and grabs my hand, leaving him a few steps behind. He follows us, carrying the wrapped gift that I bought for Alex and Anna.
