Chapter 20
Once Hunter returned to the house, he felt even more ready to do battle with this monster who was ruining his life. His rage and deep feeling of violation fueled his conviction. Armed with the knowledge he’d gotten from both Naomi and Michael, he tried to instill in himself a sense of superiority and confidence. He even made his pace to his front door brisk and full of purpose.
He knew what tack he would take.
Once inside he waited for the familiar spine-tingling sensation of eyes upon him. He began to mount the spiral staircase. The thing usually came to him while he was in bed, and he would gladly meet it there.
Or maybe not so gladly. He hoped it wouldn’t be able to sense the deep well of fear coiled within him. He prayed his bravado and determination would keep it hidden
