I don’t know what possessed me to do it that night, but I knew I couldn’t wait any longer. If I wanted to uncover what David was hiding, I needed proof.
So there I was, creeping down the silent hallways of our house after midnight. The floors were so cold that they felt like ice under my feet. Every creak, every shadow made my heart jump. My pulse pounded so loud in my ears I thought it would give me away.
