The horses moved off and, as they passed over the bridge that spanned the lake, Rupert said to his sister,
“Millicent has something to tell you.”
Katherine looked surprised at the way he spoke and asked,
“What is it, Millicent?”

“I have promised to marry George and, oh, Katherine, I am so happy!”
“George?” Katherine questioned. “Do you mean the Earl of Morne?”
