Chapter 35Nicolaj parked as close to the front door as he could so that their escape would be made easier. The last thing he wanted was to get Westley out and end up running around in the fog looking for the vehicle. Grabbing the bag off the passenger seat, the keys still securely in the ignition, he joined Calleigh and Shia outside. Somewhere far off in the distance drifted the call of a loon, normally a lovely sound of the night, now nothing more than another notch on the creep-o-meter.
“Isn’t this just the friendliest place in the world,” remarked Calleigh, rubbing her hands up and down her arms to chase away the gooseflesh.
Shia gave what he could see of the building a once over. “Not bad for a desolate location. It is abandoned, right? I mean, the lights…”
