With a deep breath, I reached for the door, not caring one bit about the potential dangers behind it.
I could feel the room being filled after the commotion I caused as I twisted the handle. But I couldn’t focus on anything other than finding out if my mate was behind that door. Goddess, I hope on everything that she was.
I yanked the door back, immediately overwhelmed by the mixed scents. My mate’s was obviously the strongest, overpowering the thought of exploring the reason all the scents lingered behind in this obviously small closet.
My feet moved forward on their own accord, desperate to find any evidence, my mate hidden, even another hidden door.
