Back at the hotel, I felt giddy as a schoolgirl being asked for a dance by some random hot guy on a prom night.
Being single wasn't too bad at all as you were able to decide on your own and to choose for yourself too.
Since I agreed to become his date for tonight's party or whatever it's called, I thought I should play the part well. He's quite a conversationalist so I might have a good time talking with him.
I barely knew what party theme we'd be going to so I decided to dress up casually. I opted for a blue floral printed chiffon, flowy maxi dress paired with strappy wedged sandals in beige color. I put on light makeup too, just enough to show a subtle and natural look, tied my hair in a messy bun, and lastly, sprayed my favorite perfume behind my ear lobes and wrists. I took a last glance at the mirror and actually felt good about myself. I no longer looked as horrible as I was a couple of months ago. I took my stuff and left the room a few minutes before nine.
Andrew stood up as soon as he saw me walking towards him. He looked fashionable in his beige chinos paired with a navy blue shirt and dark brown loafers. On his hand is a jacket that matched the color of his pants.
He was surely dressed to kill, not to mention, his equally handsome face that could also launch a thousand ships like Helen of Troy's, which later on caused the infamous Trojan War. For Andrew's case, however, it would be women vying for his attention and love. His towering heights and slender-looking body in the right proportions were definitely a sight to behold as well. And this man's overall presence was quite hard to not take notice of.
I could smell his fragrance from where I stood and it took me a few moments before I could finally speak.
"Hi, Andrew. I hope I didn't make you wait that long."
"Nope, you're just right in time. By the way, you look stunningly gorgeous. I am so honored to be your date tonight," he smiled and took my hand.
"Shall we?" He asked.
"Of course, and thanks for the flattery." I hissed.
"I was totally sincere with my compliment. My eyes never failed me,"
"Fine." I ended.
We were at the Club Galaxy, one of Boracay's biggest nightclubs. It was a Friday night so it was expected to be filled with partygoers. Once the music started and the DJ dropped the beat, almost everyone went frenzy as they danced their way to the dancefloor, moving their whole body however they wanted, rocking their heads up and down with their fists pumping in the air.
"So this is the party you invited me into? Actually, I am not into this kind, but I suppose it's going to get fun in a while. The people are still so alive, ecstatic and kicking in spite of being drunk and kinda wasted" I told Andrew.
"Yes, that's what rave parties were actually about, anyone could come and go as they pleased, drink and dance as they could. There are also live music performances, a band, and DJs playing. Just so you wait, things gonna get hotter and wilder in a while." He was saying as he bent over so I could hear him.
"I'd only go to clubs for work-related matters. But generally, I prefer staying at home than go clubbing. When there were occasions or parties that I needed to attend, they were mostly the typical ones- birthday, baptismal, wedding." I replied.
He moved closer to me so we could hear each other better.
He was quite amused with my revelation. He said it didn't suit my personality at all.
"Why? How did you think of me then?"
"Since I agreed to join you at this party, you probably thought of me as an easy type. Well, sorry to disappoint. I might not live up to your expectations tonight." I told him quite annoyed.
"Of course not, you actually look classy and not the kind of lady who would really party hard. You look kinda reserved and poised, so how could I expect you to go wild at a rave party?" He defended.
"If you're really not interested, we could just leave. If mellow music and feel-good love songs were something you preferred, we could just hop into another bar where they played acoustic songs and R&B."
"It's okay if we stay here for a while. Don't trouble yourself too much. We'd just leave if needed. I told him."
Andrew raised his hand. Shortly, the waiter walked towards us and took our orders.
"Andrew, aren't your friends joining us? Where are they by the way?" I simply asked.
"Hmm, they're still in marital bliss so I dared not spoil the fun." He said with a sweet smile. It was so captivating it made my heart melt a bit.
"What?! What exactly do you mean?" I asked after taking a sip of my vodka.
"They recently got married and this trip I believe was kind of extension of their honeymoon"
"So, why did you tag along?" I was curious.
"I did not. I just knew they were here so I met them at dinner earlier. The guy's my friend but I was not able to attend the wedding due to a conflict in schedule." said Andrew.
"I actually invited them to join us but they declined. My friend said they're going to have their own rave party in their bedroom."
I frowned and stared at him with a questioning look.
"Hey, don't look at me like I was some perverted guy. Those were his words, not mine." He defended.
I just laughed and took another sip. I was almost in my third glass of Ketel One vodka while he's on his fourth.
"Hey, hey, did you think we were on a drinking competition here? Please drink moderately. We're not in a hurry and the club's not closing anytime soon." He smized.
"Come. Dance with me, Eli."
He grabbed my hand and led me to the dancefloor.
I was clueless and conscious of how I should dance. He told me to feel the rhythm of the music so my body would just move according to it. Well, it worked somehow. Luckily, the DJ was playing the classic and funky hits of Motown and Earth, Wind, and Fire medley. I was happy my dancing could relate.
We danced a few more times. I was amazed at his dancing skill. He could do the shuffle and the lock until he was at the dancefloor center. Feeling shy, he just finished the dance, took my hand, and led me back to our table.
"Wow, you're a natural. You danced so well. I am in awe," I told him.
"I used to be in a dance crew back in college. Learned some techniques and that's it. Actually my first time in a long time." He laughed.
We continued our drinking sesh as he waved to the waiter. He ordered another bottle of vodka, sizzlers, fries, and calamari.
"Eli, where's your boyfriend?" He suddenly asked
I was stunned.
I finished a glass of vodka in one gulp and replied,
"Oh, did you not surmise I was on my own that was why you bravely asked me to be your date tonight?"
"But you might be in a relationship with God knows who and I wouldn't want to mess up with that. So, I need you to validate my guess." He retorted.
"My ex-boyfriend? He's nowhere to be found," I said
