The Rat, Cow, Dog and the Cat

Once, there was a couple. They were rats. One day wife-rats sent Father-rat to look for a midwife. "She must have a sweet and pleasing voice, otherwise he will frighten me to death." The Mother-rat told her husband.
Father-rat met a cow, "Are you a midwife?" he asked.
"Yes."
"Let me hear your voice. Wife says I must select one with a sweet and pleasing voice. "Said the Father-rat.
"Ma... ma...", began the cow in his voice of thunder.
"That's enough, my wife will be frighted to death if she hears you," cut the Father-rat.
He met a dog. "Are you a midwife?", asked the Father-rat.
"Yes.", the dog said.
"Let me hear your voice, my wife says I must select one with a sweet and pleasing voice.", said the Father-rat.
"Bow-wow, wow.", barked the dog in a shrill tone.
"That will not do. I don't like your voice." cut the Father-rat.
He met a cat. "Are you a midwife?", he asked.
"Yes."

"Meow... meow... meow.", began the cat, trying to make her voice as soft and beautiful as it could be.
"Fine! That's enough. I'll have you for a midwife." cut the Father-rat. "Come with me."
They soon reached a hole where the Mother-rat was. She was crying with pain. "Go to the woods and get me some herbs," commanded the Midwife-cat.
Father-rat did as he was told. As soon as he was a little way off, midwife-cat devoured the poor mother and the little one just born.
When Father-rat arrive, he saw nothing more of his beloved ones. He ran as fast as he could to avoid the cat.
On his way he met the Cow and Dog. Upon hearing his sad tale, they turned their noses up and saying: "Our voice you don't like. You are deceive by the cat. From this time, never judge by the appearance.
