CATHERINE
Catherine quickly got up from lying on the bed when she felt her stomach churning. She covered her mouth and rushed into the bathroom.
Upon entering, she immediately rushed to the sink and vomited. And as before, she only spit out saliva. After that, she felt weak.
She felt like crying in her current state. She was alone, with no one taking care of her, especially in her condition. She had expected Travis to be supportive, being her husband and the father of the child she's carrying. But what could she expect from a man who doesn't care about her, who doesn't consider her his wife? At the very least, even if he doesn't love her, she hoped he'd show some concern for the child she's carrying. Even if he didn't care about her, just the child would be enough. When she craved something to eat, she'd even call a friend to bring it to her.
Catherine remained in that position. When she thought she was strong enough to move, she finally emerged from the bathroom.
Instead of lying down on the bed again, she decided to leave the room to get some water. She suddenly felt thirsty. Catherine exited the room, and as she did, Travis was coming out of the master bedroom.
They were startled by each other's presence. But as soon as he recovered from the shock, his facial expression immediately turned serious. And after a while, she noticed his eyebrows furrowing as his gaze dropped to what she was wearing. And she noticed the dark in his eyes as his gaze focused on her breast.
She followed his gaze and her eyes widened as she saw her n*****s visible through her clothes. She was wearing her white nighties. And she wasn't wearing a bra, as she never wore one to sleep. And in that moment, her n*****s were visible through her outfit.
And in that moment, even without looking at her own reflection in the mirror, she knew her cheeks were bright red. She quickly turned around and went back inside the room she was staying in.
As she entered the room, she touched her burning cheeks due to the embarrassment she felt.
"Why are you embarrassed, Catherine? You're going to have a child together," her mind said.
Well, even though they were going to have a child together, she couldn't help but feel her cheeks burning. Especially since what happened between them was when they were both drunk. She could only remember a little.
She stood still for a moment before taking her robe and putting it on under her nighties. After that, she left the room. Travis was no longer standing where he was earlier, it seemed he had gone downstairs.
Catherine went downstairs too. She continued walking until she reached the kitchen.
"Good morning, Ma'am Catherine," Lily, one of Travis's maids, greeted her.
"Good morning, Lily," Catherine replied to the woman.
"Are you going to have breakfast too?" Lily asked her after a while. Catherine glanced in Travis's direction. He was already seated at the dining area and seemed about to start eating. She couldn't help but look down at the food on the table.
In that moment, she suddenly felt hungry. She wanted to eat too. But remembering that Travis didn't want to dine with her, she smiled wryly and shook her head. Maybe if she joined him, he would suddenly stand up from his seat, like he had done to her before.
It was her first day at his house. Lily called her to eat, and Travis was already seated at the dining table. She hadn't even been seated for two seconds when Travis stood up and left the dining area, leaving her alone.
She wasn't just hurt by his actions, she was also humiliated. She saw the pity in Lily's eyes when they witnessed it. She was grateful that they didn't ask any questions. Despite feeling hurt, she continued eating. And from then on, she stopped joining him for meals, even when she was hungry. It seemed Lily noticed this, because after Travis finished eating, she would call her to eat, and sometimes even bring her food to her room.
And Catherine didn't want it to happen again because being left behind hurt her feelings. "I'm not hungry yet, Lily," she replied, even though she was actually hungry. She noticed Lily's scrutinizing gaze and knew she didn't believe her answer. But she was secretly grateful that Lily didn't say anything. Lily just nodded. "I'll just get some water because I'm thirsty," she added.
Catherine didn't wait for Lily to respond, instead, she stepped towards the water dispenser. After getting a glass of water, she excused herself to Lily. She briefly glanced at Travis, who still had a serious expression on his face, before stepping out of the dining area.
