Hinintay kita. Hours ticked by as the candles melted into puddles, the dinner I cooked went cold, and the excitement in my chest turned bitter. Sabi mo darating ka—it was our first anniversary. Pero inuna mo na naman ang trabaho mo kaysa sa akin. Palagi mong sinasabi na para sa future natin, pero kailangan din naman kita.

Your texts came in, but I ignored them. My anger wouldn’t let me forgive you this time. I just wanted you to feel how hurt I was, how disappointed. Sinabi ko na ayaw na kitang makita.

Pero mapilit ka. Kahit huli na, kahit pagod ka, gusto mo pa rin makipag-ayos, dahil sabi mo hindi ka panatag kapag hindi tayo okay. I didn’t answer your last call.
