Mission Impossible

IS THIS really happening? That was in Nao’s head while standing in the middle of a grand pool. The water was lukewarm and it reached her waist. In fairness, it was too luxurious for an “indoor pool.” In each corner of the pool, there was a golden dragon statue that served as water fountain. All the pillars in the room were also made of gold. She heard that that place was called “cleansing chamber.” Apparently, it was used to cleanse the body of a woman in a physical and spiritual way. That was the reason she was butt-naked right now. First of all, she was confident and comfortable with her conventionally attractive body. She was tall and skinny, had ample breasts and bubble butt. Her skin was milky white and flawless, thanks to the skincare products she used. Aside from her body, she had the face that most people would find pretty. But she wasn’t comfortable to be surrounded by priestesses. Even though they were all women in there, she still felt awkward to be “observed” while she was in her birthday suit. She could feel their scrutinizing gaze as if everyone was judging each nook and cranny of her body. Her confidence level was starting to drop. Thank goodness her brunette hair was long enough to cover up her n*****s. If you’re going to stare at my body, let me see yours too! It’s unfair that I’m exposed here while you’re heavily dressed! I want justice! The damned priestesses were wearing a hooded light blue cloak. While Everleigh– the High Priestess– was wearing a white furred cloak. She was also holding a gold scepter with a crystal ball pointed at her direction. The woman had her eyes closed while mumbling incantation in a foreign language. Everleigh is just as pretty as the book said. In the novel, the High Priestess was described to have beautiful long blonde hair and warm blue eyes. Well, she hasn’t seen her eye color yet but she could tell that the woman had attractive features. Ah, she also remembered that she used to have a “girl crush” on the badass High Priestess. Oh my god. I’m really inside the novel now. Reality is starting to kick in real bad! She was transported into that world yesterday. After being pulled by an unseen force, she woke up in the middle of that very indoor pool. She could still hear the collective gasp of the priestesses in her head. They were really shocked upon seeing her and her outfit. After all, she came into that strange world in a black two-piece bikini and tiny denim shorts. She also had a drawstring bag filled with boxes of condoms that she was selling before she was pulled inside the novel. Surprisingly, the book that she was holding disappeared as soon as she got there. I hope they didn’t throw away my stuff. Anyway, only Everleigh wasn’t shocked upon seeing her yesterday. The High Priestess calmly asked the priestesses to bring her to the “Holy Chamber.” She was too shocked to react then so she just obediently followed the women who were tasked to assist her. She let those priestesses help her from taking a bath to changing into a white satin gown. Then, they fed her and left her alone to sleep. As one would expect, she wasn’t able to sleep right away. The queen size bed was soft and comfortable, but instead of falling asleep, she just stared at the blank ceiling. Only then did it sink in that she was really transported into the world of the novel she was reading before. The story and the scenes in that book were still fresh in her head. And everything that had happened to her was the same experience Lia had– and Lia was the novel’s heroine. She really thought that she was only dreaming because she had been engrossed with the story. So she forced herself to sleep. But when she woke up, she was still inside the strange world. The priestesses who took care of her the night before came back to assist her in bathing. They really made sure to scrub every inch of her body. It was awkward and embarrassing but she couldn’t do anything to stop them while she was being held down in the tub. And it wasn’t like they were physically hurting her. If she would be honest, she enjoyed the bath. The essential oil and “bath bomb” that the priestesses used had lovely scent. After her long bath, she smelled like fresh flowers. Anyway, after that, they brought her to the cleansing chamber. And here we are now. “Lady from another world,” Everleigh said in a gentle tone, smiling. She now had her eyes open and her scepter down. She was now using it like a cane. “Please tell us your name.” Yep, her blue eyes are warm and her voice is soft. And thank god the High Priestess was speaking a language she understood. According to the novel, the heroine Lia noticed that this world used a language that didn’t exist from her world. But for some reason, the heroine could understand and speak the language. Looked like it was true and honestly, it was very convenient. “Well, isn’t it rude to ask for my name when you haven’t given yours yet?” Nao asked in an overly sweet tone, masking her sarcasm with a friendly smile. Napasinghap ng malakas ang mga priestess, halatang hindi natuwa sa tanong niya. Kasunod niyon ay ang sunod-sunod nang reklamo ng mga ito. “How dare you talk to the Holy Priestess that way?” “Impudent young wench.” “She deserves to be punished.” “Silence,” Everleigh calmly told the priestesses that fell silent right away. Then, the High Priestess looked at her with calculating eyes. Whatever she was seeing in her now seemed to please her. “Your eyes are clear now. Have you finally accepted that this is reality?” Well, that was true. Now that she was calm, she had finally absorbed and processed everything in her head. It could be because when she was younger, her mother was admitted to the hospital while being treated. Being her mommy’s guardian taught her to be calm and alert all the time. But one could also say that she was already jaded. More like I’m dead on the inside– just like most people my age. “I would like to request a private audience with you, Miss Everleigh,” Nao said to the High Priestess. “It seems like we have something important to discuss.” “Very well,” Everleigh said, then raised one hand while talking to her priestesses. “Everyone may leave now.” The priestesses looked like they didn’t want to leave the High Priestess. But in the end, they followed the order. Nao was pretty sure they just threw her a warning glare before they left the room. “You know my name even though I haven’t introduced myself yet,” said Everleigh when they were alone in the cleansing chamber. “May I know your name?” “I’m Naomi Oh,” she said. “You can just call me ‘Nao.’” “Have you read the book, Nao?” “Yes. I didn’t get to finish it though,” she explained. “Only until the part where Lia was chased by the assassin. She was pregnant with the duke’s child. What happened to her?” “Lia is gone.” Okay, that surprised her. “But she’s the heroine and the narrator of the story,” she argued. “How will the story progress without the main character?” “The “novel” you’ve read is actually Lia’s memory of her life in this world,” explained the High Priestess. “Only the chosen one to replace her would be able to “read” the story. You were pulled in the moment she was killed. That means you’re now the new “heroine.”” “Why me?” “I’m sorry but even I do not have the control to choose whom to replace Lia.” “Then, who is the woman who gave me the book?” “You might be talking about the personification of the magic used to summon a woman from another world,” explained Everleigh. “Many women have been placed in your position. But this is the first time that a woman from another world was called.” “Why did you choose someone from another world?” she asked with a knotted forehead. “Do you have scarcity in women here?” The High Priestess smiled while gently shaking her head. “It wasn’t like that, Nao. I decided to summon a woman from another world in hopes of changing the world we live in. If a person who knows what happened to Lia would take her place, the same tragedy that happened to her might be avoided.” “But I don’t know who killed her,” she said in a worried voice. “Her memories are useless because even she was clueless.” “You can continue the investigation that she started,” the High Priestess argued. “Nao, I’m sorry but we don’t have time left. Marquess Spence Balthazar is on his way. You know who is, don’t you?” She glared at the High Priestess. “You want me dead, don’t you?”  “I believe that you are special, Naomi Oh,” said Everleigh. “With my blessing, you now have the body that can carry the duke’s child.” The f**k?
