Running away as fast as I could, I bumped into Nadia who was heading to our classroom. "Hey," she greeted with a smile at me. I didn’t reply back and dragged her out of the hallway. "What’s that matter?" she asked when we went to our respective seats in the classroom. Panting, I replied. "I think I’ve pissed off David."
"David?" she asked, more to herself. When she catches it up, her head jerks upward and her eyes bulge out. "You mean, David Pluck?! The badboy in school?! "
I narrowed my gaze to her.
"Why do you sound so happy about it?"
"OMG! Have you decided on it already? You going to his lessons? "
"Lessons my foot." I murmured.
She cleared her throat. "I mean, you know it already. So, how was your first lesson? "
Her eyes shimmered in gladness. I rolled my eyes and answered. "I don’t care about the lessons or whatever you call it. I didn’t sign up for it in the first place though. So stop pushing me for that because no, no, no. No! I’m not going for it. Absolutely not going. " I said and that made her pout. "Aww! So no lessons for my cutie little Heather. How pitiful! I really think David could help you out with your problem. "
Seriously?
"I don’t need his help. And I already told him that I have a bo – " I cut myself because of the thought. No, I shouldn’t have said that. I want to tell her if Blake and I are official. It’s a shame for me if we’re not going to end up with each other. So no, I’m not going to tell her yet. "What?" Nadia asked and waited for me to complete the sentence.
"Nevermind. Let’s forget about David. Shall we? " I smiled at her but it didn’t reach into my eyes. She smiled back gorgeously as ever. "Sure!"

Literature class is very boring. You must write essays, research papers, and other assignments. I don’t recall what they are but I recall that they’re way too boring and difficult for me. I don’t excel in class. In fact, I am in the top 2 starting from the bottom rank. Nothing’s special for me. The only thing that I am proud to say is my best friend. Nadia is like the glitter around me, so I also shine whenever I’m at her side. Sad, right? Well, that’s my reality.
"Ugh! I’m doomed now. " I pushed away my laptop in front of my desk because I felt like my brain was wracking up. I’ve tried, okay? I’ve tried to type words for my essay to be submitted tomorrow but I’m stuck at 567 words only. The minimum word count is 1000 words, so I’m only half-way to it. What should I write with those 500 words, huh? Should I just write anything that comes to my mind? No, I’ll get the lowest score for sure.
Groaning, my phone vibrated and I picked it up without knowing who it was. "Hello?" I said in a hoarse voice.
"Are you tired from school? Sorry, I’ll just call later. " A familiar voice said and it brings my sanity back. "Ah, yeah. I mean, no. Absolutely no. I’m not tired at school. I might even be able to finish my unfinished essay today. Yeah, "I let out an awkward laugh after that.
"So you have an unfinished essay..." he said.
His voice is so sweet that I badly want to melt if I could, right now.
Biting my lips, I replied. "Yeah…"
"Want to get some help?"
"Huh?"
"I mean, if it’s okay for you…"
"No, I can finish this. I don’t want to be a burden on you. Really. I can do this. Fighting! " I said and made a gesture of my hand even though he couldn’t see it. Lowering my hand, I heard him laugh gently. Oh Lord, why are you so unfair to your beings? How could a guy laugh like an angel? When I laugh, I sound like a crazy donkey who just got out of the zoo.
"It’s okay. You’re not a burden to me. I would be glad if you wanted some help with your assignments. I don’t have a game today, so yeah, I’m… free… " His voice was hoarse in the last part. He sounds so gentle. In the real world, I believe he is a gentleman.
"Uhm, if you insist. Then, I’ll just send it to your sss. Would that be alright? " I asked, trying my very best not to shriek because he might find me weird!
"Yeah, sure…" He said and I ended the call right away because I couldn’t take it anymore. "Oh my God," I blurted out and stared at my ceiling. "His laugh…" I murmured and covered my mouth. Then, I let out a weird laugh and shriek and I jumped on my bed right after that. God knows how pathetic I look inside of my room. I don’t care because I’m alone. After that embarrassment, I cleared my throat. "You are so lucky to have him, Heather." I murmured to myself while typing an email to Blake for him to do my assignment. A ghost of a smile was plastered on my face.

Our literature teacher went into the room and the class returned to their respective seats. They hushed into small voices as soon as the teacher sat in front. She spoke. "For those students who didn’t pass their assignment in Google classroom, raise your hand." We had to submit the essay in document form to the Google classroom. It’s an educational app on Google play or app store. It was convenient and technical, so I had no trouble submitting.
No one raised their hands, so I assume everyone passed their assignment. If it wasn’t for Blake’s help, I would be the only one who would raise a hand right now. What a relief! I sighed and mentally prepared myself for the announcement of grades.
"Give yourself applause, everybody. You are my first class who submitted their assignments on time and completed. " We applauded and were horrified by the minor accomplishment. After that, our teacher suddenly called my name. For the first time!
"Who’s Ms. Ferrer? Can I see her? " She asked my classmates and all eyes were on me. I was glued to my seat, preparing for another embarrassment. I might be stuck again or whatever you call it. But seeing my literature teacher smile at me genuinely, I know it’s good news. "Congratulations! You aced the assignment! Ms. Heather Ferrer here got a one-hundred-percent score. I’m wondering if you could join the journalism club? We’re recruiting members. " She announced and gave me a round of applause. What…
Did I just get admitted to the journalism club?
"Silence means yes. See you this afternoon, Ms. Ferrer. " And… I’m doomed.
