The sun was just beginning to rise, casting a warm glow over the city as Jade Harper laced up her running shoes. Her morning routine was always the same: a five-mile run, a healthy breakfast, and then off to work. As a former military officer, discipline was ingrained in her, and she thrived on routine and order.
Her phone buzzed on the kitchen counter, breaking the morning silence. It was her boss, Director Thompson. "Harper, we've got a new assignment for you," he said, his voice gruff with urgency.
Jade listened as Thompson briefed her on her new assignment - Alexander Blackwood, New York's notorious playboy. She had heard of him, of course. His exploits were the stuff of tabloid fodder, and his name was synonymous with scandal.
She was to be his bodyguard, protecting him from the myriad of threats his lifestyle attracted. Jade knew it wouldn't be easy. She was used to dealing with disciplined military personnel, not reckless playboys. But she was the best in her field, and she was not one to back down from a challenge.
