I flew far as I can, reading that little piece of paper made me shiver for real, not just my hands, feet, flesh, but also bones.
“I think my sister, Wynmisia will kill me tonight.” that is what written on the paper.
And if that same Wynmisia is inside that abandoned house, then the danger only rose to a higher level, including those fairies who waited for her arrival. Their auras give off the feeling that they are not just ordinary Cheiums, there’s more to each of them.
“Some fairies get powerful in an instant, in an overnight by doing a ritual.” I remembered what Prince Rage said.
I hope I can find my way back to them, we all need to get out of Euphorium Forest. Wynmisia and those people are not just some kind bad new, they could be worse. Especially if they did the ritual to themselves.
The three moons are starting to appear in the vast sky that’s slowly turning into bluish. This is not good. I can’t go straight to the academy knowing they might still be here.
Flying faster I spotted a blazing flame in a distant.
“Please let that light be coming from Prince Rage.” I muttered.
“Naia!” he shouted as our distance disappeared. I almost cried when I hugged me, out of fear, of exhaustion, of confusion.
“Where have you been?” he asked but I didn’t answer.
“Are you alright?” he added and I stood still.
“Aellah and Zeph already went back home, together with Nepturime and Cerine.” that’s when my tears started falling, knowing Aellah and the others are safe, I felt so relieved.
“We need to leave the forest now Prince Rage.” I hurriedly said.
Without understanding what’s the situation, we traveled using our wings, bringing up an awkward silence and atmosphere.
Now I can’t even enjoy the view again, I took a deep breath and handed out the small paper to Prince Rage.
“What’s this?” he asked.
“I found that in a diadem, inside an old abandoned house I reached when I left.” I answered.
“Abandoned house? The one with four floors?” he asked and I nodded.
Wait, why does he know that place? He has been there?
“That’s a summer vacation house of the Airylisias.” he answered.
Airylisia??? Mother kept on talking about that name. My father served to that family! Heard that they are more powerful than the Fierylus, not until the king next in throne vanished.
“So it was true. Sir Anvindr was killed by her sister.” he uttered.
He knew the person who wrote that letter?
“My Father, King Agni spent almost all his life alongside Sir Anvindr. They were rivals, but in a friendly manner, just like how Zephyr is to me. Both of them are the ones next in throne, to their respective nations, and was about to get crowned on the same day as they have requested it. After the Great War, it was announced that the two of them will lead the new generations of fairies, with peace and harmony. But it was rumored that Sir Anvindr’s sister, Wynmisia wanted power all over Retheale. And knowing that the Airylisias are the strongest amongst all, she wanted to start another war. But of course Sir Anvindr didn’t want the same which made her sister mad.” he started telling me as we are still up in the air.
“The night before the coronation, it was reported that Sir Anvindr went missing. The whole kingdom of Aersho were worried, about Sir Anvindr’s whereabouts, and for they greatly feared Wynmisia taking over the throne. Father took the crown in Ignisen, and went straight to Wynmisia. They clashed, fought, and that’s when King Agni saw the power of someone who turned herself to the darkness, Wynmisia sold herself to the evil.” Prince Rage continued.
So that’s must be it, why Wynmisia won over and killed Sir Anvindr is because of the ritual. Her greed of power made her turned into a monster no one has ever seen before.
“Aersho’s capital, Minstrale was a mess, some people witnessed their battle. It was a risk for my Father to take, but the Wisps blessed him, to fight over the Shade’s power of Wynmisia. She was defeated, sealed, and was thrown away.” Prince Rage said but I shook my head.
“She’s alive!” I almost shouted.
“Wynmisia?” Prince Rage held unto my shoulders, with a shaking grip. His eyes were suddenly filled by the mixture of worry, fear, anger.
I nodded.
“How can you be so sure?” he asked seriously, without taking his gaze on me.
“I—I heard her, earlier, inside that abandoned house.” I answered, his grip tightened up.
“Tha--- that hurts your highness.” I whispered and he let loose.
“Sorry. But can you tell me more?” he asked.
“I didn’t know where I was going earlier, then I found myself near the house, I entered and explored it out of curiosity. After some minutes, I heard a group of fairies, they were all girls, who went inside the house too, talking about looking for someone, an assassination too. They felt my presence, and I hid. When I was about to be caught, another lady came, and one of the girls called her Wynmisia.” I told him.
“Their powers are tremendous, the mana level, the aura force they emit, it overwhelmed me. I found the diadem when the girls left the room I went in to hide. When I read the letter, fear consumed me more and flew away as fast as I can, in the hope of escaping and finding you, nay of you.” I added with my trembling voice.
“Don’t cry, you’re safe with me. That must have been tough, what you faced earlier, so never go alone again, okay? Now that you have ideas in the horrors in Cheiums, your life just might be targeted, but I will protect you at all cost.” he hushed me that prevented me from crying.
Damn. I went to Eltia to only break my curse and enjoy a normal life, but I am just getting into worse things. First with Pele, and now with Wynmisia. Mother, guide me, and forgive me for being a troublesome daughter.
“We should go ahead now, I need to go to Ignisen tomorrow and report all of these to my Father. The only to track Wynmisia is to find the certain person they want to kill.” Prince Rage said and we continue heading to Erutain.
“Can I go with you? Tomorrow?” I asked him.
His eyes suddenly lit up.
“Are you sure you’re going to do this?” he asked and I nodded.
I’m already in this mess, wanting to get out and pretend that everything’s fine here in Retheale will only mean cowardice. If I am going to die, because of the curse, might as well spend my remaining days helping the Salamanders’ Prince.
“Yes your highness.” I answered firmly.
He smiled at me, and I smiled at him back but my heartbeats went berserk, pounding madly as if my heart is about to explode. I held onto my chest, as I hardly grasp air. My body suddenly felt hot, but the breeze of the night is too cold for my skin.
I felt painful sensation around my Undine mark, luckily it is hidden, located at my upper right thigh, it is impossible for anyone else to see it.
“Naia?” Prince Rage attended to me.
I lost balance as my wings disappeared and felt the prince carrying me, calling my name, tapping my cheek a little but continuously, as my vision is starting to get all blurry.
“Th---- the curse…..” I whispered before falling into deep pain and darkness.
I opened my eyes, only to see myself in the middle of a war, Erutainee is burning, every student is fighting fairies wearing black cloaks. Most of them are wounded severely already but none of them are giving up. Their voices are echoing all over the place, saying they will win this war, even if the situation states the otherwise. Some of the students are lying down on the field, few have their heads decapitated, others are sliced in half, there are others crying in pain from being tortured, but I can’t see anyone trying to run away.
Where’s Aellah? Zeph? Prince Rage?” I asked myself.
I flew and saw from a distance that Eltia, Retheale’s capital is being destroyed by those people under black cloaks. One came approaching me, but I defeated it instantly with a sword made by air, having a water running inside it.
A tripent, it is the crest these black cloaks have.
“You must awaken your powers, Naia….” a deep unfamiliar voice told me.
”Who are you?!” I asked shouting while trying to find whose voice is it coming from.
“Only the both of you are the answers, they can’t defeat the two of you. But you must hurry, in finding the truth.” it continued speaking.
I felt shivers, of fear, and every emotion I can think of right now.
“Show yourself coward!” I shouted.
“The Syldine was born for a reason… You are destined to do something great for Retheale’s sake.” the voice sound faded, as if the owner of it vanished even before I can see who is it.
But how come that the voice knows I am a Syldine?! Reason? Destined for? Retheale?!
As I was about to fly and search again for my friends, I felt a cold blade piercing through my body. I looked down to find a sword on my chest, with my purple blood flowing from the wound and from my mouth, I tried to look back.
I can’t recognize the face of this fairy who stabbed me, but the grin, it is familiar, this fairy under a black robe seems familiar.
