Chapter 1

1070 Words
I opened my eyes and my room's ceiling greeted me. I slowly moved my right hand upward. It was like I didn't move for a long time. Could someone tell me it was just a dream? I suddenly felt excruciating pain in my left shoulder. I gasped because the pain deepened and I couldn't handle it any longer. I pressed my hands on the pain to at least lessen the outgrowing feelings I couldn't bear, but to no avail. The pain was now unbearable. "Alli!" Unexplainable, I couldn't longer feel the pain anymore. Like it just disappeared like a bubble popped out in mid air. "Alli!" I looked at my window and saw the sun shining in the sky. "Alli!" I got down from my bed and made my way to my room's window, opened it, and saw Therese standing outside my room. "What took you so long?" she asked a bit irritated. "It's almost eight in the morning and you're still in bed?" Was she one of the people I shouldn't trust? Was she one of them that talked behind my back? She was my best friend after all. "There are two rules you should always remember. First, don't tell anyone. The moment you'll mention it to someone, you'll be back here and lose the chance. Of course, who would believe you? Second, don't trust anyone." I remember what that witch told me. What was her name? She didn't mention it, did she? Don't trust anyone. I get it, okay! Don't mention it all the time. It was like she was here because I could still hear her voice. "Hey! We'll better get going!" I raised a brow and looked at her a bit confused. "Where to? This early?" "Don't tell me you forgot?" Her eyes widened after hearing what I just said. "You're unbelievable!" Why was she so upset? I looked up and think what was the date today. Was there any important things that should be done today? My eyes narrowed even more, because I couldn't remember what was— "Oh my gosh!" I covered my mouth with my hand for me to control myself from screaming. I almost jumped outside my window! "Oh, seriously, Alli?" She was now crossing her arms and gave me a ridiculous look. But... "... I'll give back their lives and make them what they should be— fearless and strong." "Don't smile, you look like an id*ot." The smile on my face slowly disappeared. I should be careful now. That witch was right. I trusted people easily. But I didn't know they were talking behind my back. I didn't even know who was who. "Oh, you have the brain, but once in your life, you never use your brain. Just sell it, for cheesecake's sake!" I almost rolled my eyes. But I refrained from doing so. It would only confuse Therese. That witch's voice playing over and over again in my mind. Okay fine! I would remember everything you had said! Just stop popping in my mind. It was creepy! I was now sounded like a crazy woman. But h*ll! I couldn't get her out of my mind! "You'll be back in your past life with the memories." "But this time, a different you." Today was my long-time crush's birthday. We were invited to his party and Therese was excited as me. It was the year 2038 and I had died in the year 2040. I was back two years from the past. Meaning... In this duration of time, I had met my killer. I didn't know if I was right, but it was the only thing that came first to my mind. "Hey!" I came back to my senses when Therese shouted again. "You need to dress up well today and we shall better get going! I'll come in, okay?" Should I go? As I had remembered, Therese and I planned to make me look gorgeous today, so that Brent— the man I liked since junior high school would finally confess his feelings for me. Yes, I was one of the town's prettiest girls, but d*mn! I didn't know why up until now, Brent never confess his feelings to me. It was obvious that he liked me too. Everyone knew that. Or was it he just too shy or pressured? Nah! I didn't know either! At the age of twenty-eight, I was still living with my parents. Of course, I didn't want to leave them and the town where I grew up. But ended being killed. Mom and Dad told me that I should explore the world outside this town. That I should pursue the dream I wanted to be— a fashion designer. I already finished college but ended being lazy, lying in my bed for more than five years after I graduated. Hanging around the town with Therese and our circle of friends. Who would know, one of them was the killer. One of them that envied me so much to the point of killing me just to get rid of me. Poor b*tch! Mom and Dad transferred everything they owned under my name. They really wanted me to leave this town and had my own life. But I was not like that kind of daughter! I didn't want to leave them. I wanted to see them even after they died. They were too old and I knew any moment, God would get them away from me. But... I died first. If maybe I just listened to them, will I ended up being a cold corpse under the earth? The worst, what would happen to Mom and Dad? I made up my mind. I would find out who was behind my death. After I got my life back, I would leave this town with Mom and Dad. I will never let this chance slipped away from my hands. It was the only chance I had. I would win this fight no matter what. And I should go to that party. This time with the new me. This time, they would never have the chance to gossip about me. They would never have the chance to talk behind my back. I would make sure I would catch that crazy b*tch! Just you wait girl. The moment I would know who you were, I would never let go of you and made sure that you would rot in jail.
