Ready and Set

As the days pass by like what Ms. Camille announce to them, a year level competition with the other two section will happen within three weeks. Every morning they study as usual but after it was their free time to polish and enhance their abilities.

" What should we do? Chris never see us after class and..... during class he only sleeps" Anica ask Ralyn that seems pissed off

" It's been two days yet he vanish like thin air. Let's look for him and I'm going to punch some manners to him" Ralyn replies and drag Anica to look for Chris

Tiana who is with Chika and Jude feels sorry for her friend.

" My poor little Anica..." Tiana mumbled

Chika hold Tiana's shoulder and said, " I know... That Chris is too much to handle... don't worry if we ever saw him we will drag him to Ralyn"

" Ralyn is really mad as if she's a demon. If you bring Chris to her it will be disaster" Jude said

" Why the principal let that kind of person here. He seems more of a villain than a hero. " Tiana thought that Jude and Chika look at her

" Don't look at me like that, I know some of us never wanted this... being a hero but, why him?" Tiana added

Chika sighs, " I know what you mean. He's the type that will goes berserk never looking back on what damage he did. He also fight recklessly without minding the person he was with, he fight as if he enjoys seeing blood. "

" He's scary" Jude added

Ralyn while dragging Anica is asking every student if they ever saw Chris.

" Did you see a man that is tall, have this spiky hair and cat eyes? Hm? He have this negative aura around him" Ralyn ask a student they met at the corridor

" Uhmm... Ralyn I think you're scaring them?" Anica muttered in a soft voice

" Who's scary!!" Ralyn exclaim with a face of a demon

" Why don't we practice by ourselves and talk to him tomorrow?" Anica suggests

Ralyn look at Anica who is averting her eyes,

( Please, let it slide... ) Anica thought to herself when Ralyn sighs.

" Fine, let's practice by ourselves ( I'm not like this I am usually compose) " Ralyn said calmly

Ralyn and Anica went to Anica's room to check the informations they have gathered. While the two was busy Chris was found by Jean that is going to the cafeteria.

" Hey, Anica and Ralyn is looking for you. You should talk to them...Ralyn is turning into demon" Jean said to him that is sleeping at the top of the tree sleeping

Chris ignore Jean,

" Hey you never listen to what other says huh? You know what punching a delicate woman is a no, no.... But, because you're handsome I'll forgive you." Jean added but Chris never move an inch or steal a glance

" ( This person, if not's because he's handsome and strong especially being the son of the greatest hero I will not take a glance and waste my time on him) You know what Anica is a loser.... Even when we're kids, she even doesn't want to be here yet she's here... she just want attention and praises even she always deny it. She just pretends to be..." Jean said but was stop by Chris that went down the tree and glares at Jean

" Woah, that's cute" Jean said to him with proud

" Don't talk to others when they are not in front of you... Don't tell me you're coward?" Chris said and bump Jean as he left her

" That bastard" Jean mumbles as she look at Chris walking away

Night comes and as usual Chris never show himself inside the cafeteria where all the section 1A gathers to eat. Anica join her dinner with Tiana, the twins and Ralyn.

" Have you talk to Chris? Why don't you knock at his room? You can't let him do that to you" Aeden ask

" Noisy" Alfred said and put food inyo her sisters mouth

" Uhmm. Ralyn already tried to talk to him and knock on his room but, no one answer." Anica explain

" That's true, I almost break in...if it's not against the school dorm I have done it already" Ralyn added

" Here eat more don't let that person get into you" Tiana said to Anica and put more food in her plate

" Here you can have my pudding, you like sweets right?" Aeden said as she gave Anica pudding also Alfred, that put more meat on her plate

" You guys should also eat" Anica said in a shy voice

" Nah, it's fine... Eat more so you can be more pretty... You should also eat vegetables even you don't like them" Aeden replies when Jean get into their table and sit

" Anica how's your day? My father called me to know how am I doing and said that they will come to see the competition. How about your parents?" Jean ask Anica

" ......." Anica didn't know what to say and remain in silence

" So, they didn't call you. Oh! Now I remember why they are not contacting you. I heard your step brother saves many people and will be awarded" Jean added

" Shut up, you really don't know when to shut your mouth. I am sure that her parents will come she's the heir of the family and not Leon." Tiana said defending Anica to Jean

" But... it's true that she's a nobody even she came from Gracia family 'cause she's useless.... that's why her father adopt someone that is more worthy." Jean said and left them

" Tch! That woman... Do you want me to freeze her to death? She run her mouth to insult you" Aeden said in rage

" I'll burn her" Alfred added

" No, don't do that. She just hate me... it's fine even I don't know the reason. She's a good person" Anica said

They just keep on silence and sighs. Tiana was worried so as the twins while, Ralyn didn't know what is really happening she was occupied of Anica's hurt expression.

" Anica is useless she even didn't want to be a hero like us. Even if we can get her inside the Mhajicka Academy it still doesn't mean that we can show her off. Our family name will be ruined" Anica's father said to her grandfather while she is listening behind the door when she was eight years old

" This is Leon, your older step brother." Anica grandfather said to Anica when she was nine

" Leon never let us down. He's our pride and glory. Let Anica study at Mhajicka though she's no use still she can't taint our family." the grandfather said to Anica's father while she was listening

" Hello sister, you know what why don't you go far where no one can recognize you? You better off dead" Leon said to Anica

Anica kept on dreaming and gets wake up with cold sweat and rapid heavy breathing. Tears fell down on her eyes as she stood up to get some water at the cafeteria without opening the lights on when someone from her back touch her shoulder. Anica grab the hand and tries to punch but was stop by Chris hand

" Tiny" Chris said

" Chris? I'm sorry I didn't see you because it's dark." Anica said

" You got a nice punch, so you have poor eyes?" Chris reply

" Yes, I have poor eyes... Can..can I have my hand now?" Anica ask

Anica can't see Chris expression but she felt the gaze from him. Chris sighs and said,

" You... If you want to get back your hand why don't you pull?"

Anica tries to pull and get her hand back. She heard footstep that Chris was going to leave her so she grab him. Anica can't see and grab his pants.

" Wait, I want to say something" Anica said gripping Chris pants

" Let go" Chris said

" I ... I don't want to...I wanna talk" Anica said in a more louder voice

" You're pulling my pants" Chris reply

Anica immediately release her grip and says, " Sorry"

Chris walk quietly and get near Anica and look at her face. Anica realizes it and look down.

" What do you want?" He ask

" We have to synchronize our ability, knows each other's strength and weaknesses to help one another. You must cooperate with us. Ralyn is mad" Anica explain while looking down because Chris face is near to her

" How about you?" Chris ask

" Me?" she reply

" Are you mad?" Chris suddenly ask

Anica was puzzled by Chris question yet answer, " Yes, because we are team. You must take responsibility to both of us so we can do that to you also"

" What can I gain from cooperating? I never want to be here. I was force, if I ever try to get out this school boundary a spell that old pipsqueak will activate and give me a hard time. What I must do is to graduate which I can do if I attend class even when I am sleeping, do activities even I didn't cooperate. So what can I gain?" Chris said to Anica that listens to him

" If you didn't pass you can't graduate. If you have someone to help you then things might be easy" Anica reply

" I can pass written academic exam and about the activities in ability using I can say that mine is not bad. I still can graduate" He said as he grab Anica's arm and squeeze it

" Then... what do you want us to do so you cooperate with us?" Anica hesitantly ask

" How about you follow my orders like a pet? Tiny be my pet and follow my every word... If you do that I can pretend to cooperate. Besides I am bored" he reply

" ( What is he saying? Should I make a deal with him?) Ok, but I can say no in every request that I think is beyond my capabilities" she softly replies

" Hahaha, you have guts to ask something. Why don't we make our deal like this... If I request you something and you don't want to you can only say the magic word " no " to me once a day" Chris demand

" Only once?" Anica mumble

" I'll make it twice...if you don't want to then forgot my cooperation" Chris said and in the end Anica agree

Both of them go back to their rooms, when

" Tiny, don't ever let me see you're crying face that's on order" Chris said to her and left Anica at her door

The next day after class Chris didn't escape and follow Anica and Ralyn silently.

" Why is he following us?" Ralyn ask Anica by whispering in her ears

" I think he's willing to cooperate" Anica reply

Ralyn stops walking and face Chris who's following them behind.

" You will practice with us Chris?" Ralyn ask

" Yes" he answer

" Then let's go to Anica's room" she added

After going inside Anica's room, Anica prepare juice and set a mini table on the floor and cushion to sit on. Ralyn and Chris sit facing each other and Anica sit on the other side of the table facing the door.

" Let's start, first off.. Let us know your strength and weakness and we will tell you ours. This will help to cover each other" Ralyn said to Chris

Chris actions make the class puzzled.

" It seems that he's cooperating now" Bert utter when he saw Chris following Ralyn and Anica

" So what? It doesn't mean he cares. You know his circumstances maybe the principal make him cooperate." Jean said in a pissed off tone

" Ah, yes that's true. He must graduate to be free from the principal's grasp. But... I think he was willing to cooperate Anica and Ralyn because even if he didn't attend to the two demands still this competition will not harm his aim to be free. Maybe because Anica is a nice person" Nio suggests that makes Jean frown

" Shut up, We still have to do our own work so don't talk anymore" Jean reply in a higher tone

" I am glad he's cooperating now" Tiana said when she saw Anica, Ralyn and Chris

" Now that you have no worries let's focus right? " Chika suggest

" Yes, yes" Jude added

" I am glad that Ralyn is not having her demon face" Mark said while scratching his head

" Still we have to defeat everyone." Calix said

" Uhmm" Raymond's way of agreement

" It looks like Anica talk to him very well" Jhazz muttered

" Anica and Chris talk? How? When? Where? Did you hear their conversation? Why the change of Chris heart?" Aeden ask

" I want to know also" Alfred added

" I didn't hear it but, I saw them talking at the corridor at night." Jhazz reply

" Night? As in last night? Why they are awake?" Aeden ask questions again

" Uhmm" Alfred added

" Why don't you ask Anica? I feel sleepy... " Jhazz reply

" My ability is to make a limited teleportation. As long as it's within my eyes rage I can teleport using my blackhole I also have this physical ability that when I use it can stack up to a certain amount of time. I don't have weakness" Chris explain

" I know who are your parents and circumstances, but both ability that you said is only your mother's ability. You didn't inherit your father's ability? And another thing you must have weakness. " Ralyn said

" Don't talk anything about my father if you want me to cooperate. So what if I don't have weakness?" Chris reply

" Fine fine, my ability is to control water... I'm a water mage. My weakness is that same as the mages, we can't manifest our ability without medium, another is fire element and I don't know how to fight physically" Ralyn explain

" My ability is to make shield and heal. I also can defend my self through combat. My weakness is that I can't heal myself and the fatal the wounds the more it cost to my body." Anica explain

" Now that you know I want you to read this. It's a compilation of information of year 1 students. If we know who is our enemy then we can make countermeasures. We can't rush our move" Ralyn explain to Chris who is looking at the papers

" So during the competition you're in-charge? " Chris said to Ralyn

" Yes, do you have any problem? " she reply with glare

" No, I'll try my best to understand your direction" Chris said with a smile

" Are you guys hungry? " Anica ask to ease the tension

On the fifth day the school post in the bulletin the groups that are going to fight.

Ralyn rush and look for their team and it happens that they are having match with Team Defendants from class 1C.

Ralyn make a meeting with Chris and Anica inside her room.

" As you two know we are facing the Defendants. They are the group I hate to face off." Ralyn said to them

" So we are going to retreat?" Chris ask

" Ofcourse not we have to think our countermeasures. There's one thing I found out with the team matchups" Ralyn said

" Yes, I also notice it. They match the teams that will be worst with one another. Like us Johnny that uses the ability resistance is a bad match up for Chris that uses physical attacks but, You have an advantage to Venna that uses sword techniques. Chris that is a physical mhajicka have an advantage to Evan that erase ability that use energy mhajicka but Evan is our worst match." Anica explain as the two listen

" Then I take care of that Evan, you take care Venna and leader will take Johnny" Chris suggests

" I can't win against Johnny, even though he has resistance to physical mhajicka he still have another card to play. He is a mage...fire mage" Ralyn explains

" Then you fight Venna your at advantage with her right?" Anica suggests

" You'll fight Johnny?" Ralyn ask

" If it's for the better" Anica reply

" Let's think more about this. We still have two weeks." Ralyn said and they continue to thing countermeasures

The next week, they start to practice their ability by fighting each other until Mark's team saw them.

" Sparring?" Mark ask

" Yes, how about you?" Ralyn reply

" Why don't we have a practice combat?" Calix suggests

" What do you think Anica?" Ralyn ask Anica's opinion

" It's fine by me, but Chris..."

" It's fine" Chris said

" Then it's settled" Mark remarks

Then both team gets ready and start their practice.

Chris immediately rush and punch Mark but Calix grab Mark's collar and pull him away.

" That's fast but he's way more faster" Mark said to Chris

Mark use his ability harden because his will to defeat Chris is strong. Raymond also shapeshift into a werewolf. Anica and Ralyn guard was up and waiting for another movement. Raymond suddenly attack Chris, with his speed, agility and power. Chris avoid his attack but Mark suddenly swing his sword in its cover but was immediately block by Anica. Calix and the other two knows how reliable Anica is in their group so, Calix run and tries to restrain her but, Anica know this and put a shield around her. As soon as Calix gets near he was bounce off by the shield Anica made. Ralyn gets this chance to attack Calix with water shot a technique that shot ten water bullets. Calix dodge it and throws a boomerang, a weapon Calix use. It miss Ralyn but because of Calix speed he easily grab the boomerang and throw it with other direction and hit Ralyn at the back.

" Tch!" Ralyn said

" Are you ok? I can't guess the boomerang and Calix attacks" Anica ask in a worried voice

" I am fine" Ralyn reply when Raymond tries to attack her but block by Anica. Chris was push by Mark and run towards Anica to destroy the shield. The shield didn't break off but the impact makes Anica pushed off and that gives Calix a cue to immediately restrain Anica. Chris back on his feet and gives punch to Mark while Ralyn use again water shot to keep Raymond distance his self. Calix after tying Anica will attack Ralyn and after Chris hit Mark that didn't scratch him, Mark wilk swing his sword. Ralyn and Chris will both be hit but, was block by Anica.

" How?" Calix ask and he find himself inside a water ball

" You stay put" Ralyn said while Raymond and Mark distance themselves

" You seems to know my technique. That's too bad ( water ball technique, a skill that will restrain anyone when I charge and save energy mhajicka and when it was complete as long as he was a meter away from me I can restrain it) " Ralyn said with a grin on her face

" Hey, I follow your plan to restrain myself. I want to enjoy myself with this rare chance" Chris said

" Fine but don't knock them off too much" Ralyn reply

" I am READY to SET off" Chris said while stretching and he charge towards Mark and Raymond

" Anica are you ok?" Ralyn ask her

" Yes, are you sure it's fine that Chris fight them by his self?" Anica ask

" It's fine, it will be better if he lost" Ralyn reply
