Chapter 4: Evil Stepsister

"Are you suggesting the Santillan Hotel to him?" Mikuru asked Chleo. "Yeah. Do you have a problem with that?" Chleo sarcastically asked Mikuru. Mikuru rolled her eyes heavenward. "Of course I have no problem with that, but you. That's your dad's hotel, and your evil stepsister and stepmother are always there. They would surely get mad at you if they saw you there." "And that's the purpose—for them to get irritated when they see me in their beloved hotel," Chleo replied, smirking. "Are you declaring war on them?" Mikuru's brow furrows. She is worried about her friend. But Chleo seems not to be worried at all. "They are the ones who declared war, not me. I'm just going to give them what they want," Chleo shrugged her shoulders. "How about Mr. Hanasawa? He might get hurt because of the attempts in his life. His family brought him here for his safety. But on the other hand, maybe that assassination attempt is not for you but for Mr. Hanasawa," Mikuru remarked. That makes Chleo think. "If that is the case, I guess I have nothing to do with that. I was the one they assigned to take care of him, and if they try to assassinate my patient while he is staying in that hotel, their name might be tarnished if he gets hurt while staying there." Chleo grinned at what she thought. Mikuru shook her head. "You are really something. Did Mr. Hanasawa agrees to stay there?" "Yeah. And he is the one to choose that hotel, not me. So, see you there, Mikuru. I don't want to be at that hotel, but I have no choice but to endure seeing them," Chleo utters with disgust. As long as possible, she doesn't want to get involved with his family and business. But work is work. She has nothing to do but obey her superiors' orders. And that is to be with Kirko as his personal nurse. ***** "I want to rest. Why did you bring me here?" Kirko asked, his forehead creased, when, instead of bringing him to his room, Chleo took her to a cafe in the hotel. "Let's have some coffee and dessert first," Chleo replied, looking at Kirko. She places Kirko's wheelchair in a spot where he can see the landscape of the hotel outside. "Did I say to you that I want coffee and dessert?" Kirko inquired sarcastically. "No. Since we are already here, let's have some. I already ordered some for us." Chleo then sat down at her favorite spot in Love Cafe. "You didn't even ask me what I wanted?" Kirko's forehead creased even more. "Ops! Sorry, my bad. I didn't ask you. But I'm sure that you'll like what I ordered for you," Chleo said without emotion. Not even sorry. "You are really something," Kirko commented, shaking his head. "I've already heard that so many times," Chleo responded. Chleo is about to close her eyes as she leans down on the couch when someone comes to their table. "So, it's true the bastard is here," Cheska said sarcastically. "The air here has suddenly deteriorated." Chleo acted as if she were not seeing Cheska. Cheska was about to get near Chleo when Dred came and blocked her. "Ms. Santillan, it's not appropriate to act like that in front of a guest," he said to Cheska. "Mr. Hanasawa is here in our hotel to rest and get well. You are stressing him out." Cheska was taken aback for a while but regained her composure immediately. "I'm sorry, I didn't know that we had a very special guest today. I am a fan of yours, Kirko Hanasawa. I can't believe that you are here in our hotel." Cheska's voice suddenly changed from being irritated to sweet. She even flipped her hair, trying to get Kirko's attention. Kirko replied, "I don't want to be rude, but I want privacy. I don't want my fans to know that I'm staying here in your hotel," before turning to Chleo and asking, "Can you bring me to my room instead? I want to rest. I get tired traveling from the hospital to here." "Okay, I will ask the staff to bring your order to your room," Chleo responded to Kirko, not minding Cheska. "I will tell our security to make sure that no one will disturb you, Kirko," Cheska said, still trying to get Kirko's attention. "Thanks," Kirko answered sparingly. Then he glanced at Chleo. "Let's go." Chleo pushed the wheelchair, and when they passed by Cheska, she mumbled, "The air here is not good for my patient." "Hey! What are you trying to indicate?" Cheska snarled to Chleo, but when her gaze turned to Kirko, she smiled sweetly. "Go ahead, Chleo. Bring Mr. Hanasawa to his room. I will tell the staff to bring your food and drinks there," Dred just told Chleo to avoid the growing tension between the two. "Alright. We'll get going now." Chleo pushed the wheelchair towards the elevator to go to Kirko's room. Cheska was left there with Dred. "Psh! That witch is with my Kirko! I really hate her!" Cheska objected, stomping her feet. "Stop harassing, Chleo. Your father will not like it if he finds out about this." Cheska gave Dred a glare upon hearing that. "You don't get to lecture me. You are just our employee." Then Cheska walks out. Dred heaved a heavy sigh. "It seems that there's going to be chaos here." ***** "That witch is in our hotel with the billionaire athlete, Kirko Hanasawa?" Zenaida exclaimed as Cheska told her about it. "Yes, mom. I saw them at the love cafe this morning. And I can't believe that! She is with my Kirko," Cheska said dreamily when she thought of Kirko. "Shut up, Cheska. You have to pull yourself together and focus on your goal. Don't be distracted by that guy. I don't care about him. What matters is how we will be able to get rid of that bastard witch," Zenaida uttered. "But, mom! Kirko came from a very powerful and rich family. If he gets hurt because of our attempt to get rid of Chleo, we'll be in big trouble too," Cheska tried to enlighten her mother. "If he gets hurt because of Chleo, then his family will be mad at her. Don't worry about that; I will make sure that they won't find out that we are behind those assassinations." Zenaida smirked upon saying that.
