Chapter 3: Reborn

1760 Words
I shut my eyes tightly and called upon the Goddess of all Chosen Luna. I refuse to die like this! “I am not ready to die! Please hear my prayer, Goddess Lunaria! I beg you, I don’t deserve this tragic end! I was framed up and unjustified!” I said, my eyes full of rage as I closed it and whispered a prayer, chanting the words out of my lungs. “Oh, Goddess of the Moonlit Veil, Mother of Rebirth and Purity, Lunaria, heed my wail. By fang and claw, by blood and bone. Let me rise, though I am gone. Silver light, reshape my fate. Drown my love, ignite my hate. Banish mercy, steel my heart. From my ashes, tear me apart.” When I opened my eyes, a powerful thunderclap roared through the sky. I continued chanting. “Storm and shadow, heed my plea. Unshackle wrath and set it free. Let my howls tear through the night. Let my enemies quake in fright.” I groaned as I felt my body beginning to reform. A suffering howl escaped my throat, my bones cracked and shifted, and I screamed in agony as the transformation took hold of me. “Lyra, what are you doing?!” Dracob asked, his voice filled with shock and horror. I saw him step forward, about to approach me, but before he could take another step, a lightning bolt struck the ground at his feet. I ignored him and continued my chant. Closing my eyes, I endured the searing pain coursing through my body as my transformation underwent. “By fire’s kiss and midnight’s breath. Unchain my soul from silent death. Grant me flesh, fierce and new. A vessel strong, a heart untrue and pure. With every scar, I claim my throne. No longer weak, no longer owned. I shall rise, fierce and blessed. Bring them to ruin, lay them to rest.” I clenched my teeth and swallowed a mouthful of blood. As soon as I finished my chant, a series of deafening thunderclaps shook the heavens, followed by multiple lightning strikes that crashed down upon the towering trees around me. My body glowed with an intense light—but it lasted only momentarily before an enormous bolt of lightning struck me directly. Before darkness completely consumed me, I could still feel my body hitting the ground. The impact was so strong that I heard my bones shatter upon impact. *** As soon as I opened my eyes, I felt the earth over me rumbling violently, lightning striking the very spot where I lay and hitting the wood that covered me and flew away. I gasped for air, my lungs burning as I inhaled deeply, and the pitch-black sky greeted me. ‘Where am I?’ I asked myself as I slowly sat down. I reached out, touching my body, and tears welled in my eyes. I’m alive. ‘I’m alive! The Goddess heard my prayers! Thank you, Goddess Lunaria!’ I solemnly thank the Goddess Lunaria for giving me a second chance to get my revenge. I examined myself, and despite the darkness, my keen eyesight allowed me to see the bruises scattered across my arms and legs. I tilted my head and assessed the body I now inhabited. My eyes widened in shock, and my lips parted as a horrifying realization settled in my mind. This body belonged to an omega, a low-ranking status of our kind. Her name was Dredea Montaguez, and she had been abused. Raped. I frown. Flashes of memories that were not my own suddenly flooded my mind, hitting me like a storm. Four Alphas had brutalized the previous owner of this body. They had drowned her in their pheromones, forcing her into submission before dragging her into this forest to violate her. Overwhelmed by their overpowering scent, the helpless omega had lost her breath—her life stolen in the most horrific way possible. My hands clenched into fists, my nails digging into my palms as rage burned inside me. With closed eyes, I whispered a solemn prayer for the soul of the woman who had been cruelly taken. “I swear, I will avenge you, Dredea,” I vowed after prayer. My gaze flickered across the vast darkness of the forest. But as a wolf, the absence of light wasn’t a problem—I could still see and hear clearly. Suddenly, voices echoed from the distance, drawing closer to where I lay. My body tensed. I tried to move, to stand, but the moment I took a step, my legs gave out, and I collapsed onto the ground again. And that was when they found me. ‘Fck! How far did they go that this body ends like this?’ I cursed and familiarized the faces of those bastards and swore to kill them the moment I sensed them. “Oh my God! See? I told you! Those bastards we saw earlier definitely did something horrible!” A female voice exclaimed in horror, and I saw her running towards me. “Wait! Hey, get back here! Candice!” a man’s voice called after her. The moment his scent hit my nose, my body involuntarily reacted. It started shaking as if it was scared of the scent it released. Alpha. My breathing grew ragged as my weakened body responded instinctively to the strong pheromones radiating from him. The woman, Candice, hurried to my side, her eyes widening in shock at my battered, naked form. “Miss, are you okay?” she asked but gasped audibly as she took in my state. “Aries, don’t come any closer!” she yelled at the approaching man. “W-What? Why? What’s wrong? Shouldn’t you be the one getting away from her?” Aries asked in confusion. “Just shut up and take off your jacket! Toss it to me and turn around!” Candice snapped. I wanted to speak, to say something, but no words came out. My throat felt swollen and raw as if something was blocking my voice. “Huh?” Aries hesitated. “Stop asking so many questions! Just do as I say, okay? Hurry up!” Candice insisted, her voice sharp and urgent. “Fine! Here—make sure you’re safe over there!” Aries grumbled, but his scent grew more assertive as soon as he moved, washing over me like a suffocating wave. My body trembled violently. “Miss! What’s happening to you? Why are you shaking?” Candice rushed closer, wrapping her arms around me in concern. “P-Phero . . . mones,” I rasped, my voice barely above a whisper, hoarse and weak. “What? Pheromones—oh s**t, you’re allergic to Alpha pheromones?” Candice asked, her voice filled with concern. I gave a weak nod. “Mm.” “I’m sorry, I didn’t know,” she said, then turned to the man behind her. “Aries, she’s allergic to your pheromones. Go back to the car and grab the spare clothes I have there,” she ordered. “What? No way! I’m not leaving you alone with her. What if she’s pretending and attacks you the moment I’m gone?” Aries protested firmly. “Don’t be stubborn, Aries. What could a weak Omega—one terrified of Alpha pheromones and covered in bruises, possibly do?” Candice countered. Aries became silent, but I sensed his suspicions. However, in the end, he didn’t argue anymore. Candice held me tighter and sat beside me. Her warmth seeped into my battered body, and I felt relieved as if I was safe in her hands. A strange feeling settled in my chest. A cold, unfamiliar sensation. Kindness. Aries had a point—he had no reason to trust me. But Candice… trusted what she saw before her rather than doubted me. “Okay, fine. I’ll be quick,” Aries muttered. A moment later, I heard his footsteps fade as he ran off. “T-Thank you,” I rasped out, my voice barely audible. “Don’t force yourself to talk or move just yet. s**t, you’re a mess! I had a bad feeling about those assholes the moment I saw them earlier,” Candice muttered, anger lacing her voice. She paused, then asked, “Do you know them? Blink twice if not, once if yes.” I blinked twice. Nothing in Dredea’s memories recognized them—only the moment she accidentally bumped into them. That was all it took for them to decide to destroy her. “Those fckers!” Candice hissed. “Can you remember their faces?” I blinked once. Yes, I remembered them clearly. I will never forget their faces and their disgusting scents. And I would make them pay for what they did to Dredea. Candice didn’t let go of me, holding me steady until Aries returned. He tossed the spare clothes to her, and she carefully helped me put them on. Then, she tried to help me stand. "Can you stand and move? Don’t worry, I’ll help you, okay?” I nod. If it’s me in my previous body, healing isn’t as hard as this. But I understand this body’s weak due to the over-drowning of dominant alpha pheromones, and the body was violated many times. The moment I stepped forward, a sharp, searing pain shot through my body. A strangled cry escaped my lips, and I clutched Candice’s arm tightly. She immediately noticed. “This won’t do,” she said before turning to Aries. “Aries, can you carry her? What’s your name, by the way?” I took a deep breath. “L-Lyra,” I whispered. “My name’s Candice, and this guy is Aries,” Candice instructed. “Carry her, Aries and please control your pheromones, okay?” “Alright,” Aries agreed, stepping closer. He met my eyes. “Hi, my name’s Aries. Is it okay if I carry you?” I only nodded. He gently carried me into his arms, moving with care, ensuring he didn’t cause me more pain. I closed my eyes, again offering a silent prayer of gratitude to the Goddess who granted me this second chance at life and gave me these two good souls who saved me and offered to help me. I will not waste this second chance. I will make them pay! I won’t stop all of them until they are brought to ruin. Just you two wait. I will show you just how wrong you were to betray me. I’ll make sure you’ll taste the wrath of a Luna!
