Chapter 40

1070 Words
Her friends left her with David, who had an unreadable expression on his face. On the way home, the person beside her said something with a serious face. "Want to listen to a song?" "Turn on the music then. Naka-premium ka ba sa Spotify mo?" "What song do you want? I'll sing it for you." She rapidly shook her head. Please, no. She didn't want to have nightmares. "No!" “You brush past me in the hallway And you don't think I, I, I can see ya, do ya? I’ve been watchin' you for ages And I spend my time tryin' not to feel it.” What the heck? She said no, but he’s still singing in a romantic atmosphere. There was no music, no guitar—only his low voice that sounded like a singing bass. But it was very pleasant for her ears and made her feel like she was in a dream. "But what would you do if I went to touch you now? What would you do if they never found us out? What would you do if we never made a sound?” She put her hand on the console of the car, tapping her fingers while following the rhythm. She then sang together with him in the chorus part of the song. This song, she hadn’t listened to in a long time. They didn’t even play this in the Taylor Swift concert. "What would you do if I went to touch you now? What would you do if they never found us out? What would you do if we never made a sound? ’Cause I can see you waitin' down the hall from me And I could see you up against the wall with me And what would you do? Baby, if you only knew, oh, oh, oh That I could see you throw your jacket on the floor I could see you, make me want you even more What would you do? Baby, if you only knew That I can see you.” The song ended and she felt some weird emotions in her mind. She was so happy and felt comfortable singing one of her favorite songs with someone. She could finally say that she could be herself without pleasing anyone, without having to show off her wealth, or without having to reconcile with someone who was arguing with her for a stupid reason. "David..." They finally arrived at their destination, and the car was parked on the side of the road. They were still inside the car. "What?" "Your guitar... if you want to take it back, you can tell me. I can buy a new one." "Why?" he asked. "I heard your friend. The one I’m using is your favorite guitar." "You don’t need to return it. Actually..." David just looked at her with his usual deadpan face. Then he stuck out his tongue and licked his lips. She was stunned. She couldn’t back down because the space inside the car was limited. In just a matter of seconds, his big hands pulled her towards him, and he leaned forward to kiss her. She almost couldn’t breathe. She wanted to scold him, but she couldn’t. She wanted to push him away, but she had no strength. Her body felt so weak right now. She just wanted to give in to him. His tongue was exploring her mouth. It felt like he was sucking all the bitter alcohol inside of it. His nose was buried in her cheek while they were still kissing. His tongue was moving inside her mouth, and she felt goosebumps all over her body. He was still licking along her teeth so skillfully. Didn’t he say he never had a lover? He was better than her at kissing. Damn! David pulled away from her lips and said something softly, making it hard for her to hear. But it made her heart feel like it could fly at any moment. "Hindi ka ba marunong humalik? Why aren't you helping me?" When he saw her surprised face, David bent down to kiss her again. This time, he didn’t give her a chance to prepare. He easily slipped his hot tongue into her mouth. Her body couldn’t move anymore, except to let him control the situation. His tongue tangled with hers as they exchanged saliva. Her face was held by his big hands while his tongue continued to attack hers. She thought that if he wasn’t holding her body now, she wouldn’t be able to balance herself anymore. Her mind kept saying "enough" because she couldn’t breathe, but her heart contradicted it because it was still pounding and feeling fulfilled by what was happening, even though her eyes were still closed. In the end, her mind took over because she couldn’t breathe properly. She quickly pushed his chest to tell him it was time to stop. David obediently pulled back before bowing again to gently bite her lips, as if to end the kiss. She could taste blood on her lips. He was definitely sadistic. "You’re teasing me," she said, her voice trembling. "You suck." "You... Damn it!" "Get out while I can still control myself." "..." "I can't always act as a gentleman." He reached out his hand to unbuckle her seatbelt and unlocked the door, his way of telling her to leave. What was this? He kissed her and now he was kicking her out like a dog? She hated him. Bwisit. "What about... your guitar? Do you want to pick it up now?" she remembered they were talking about that before she was assaulted. "You don’t have to return it." "..." "It’s yours na from now on." "..." "Take good care of it." That was the last sentence of their conversation that night. She walked back to her room with trembling feet. The first thing she saw when she entered was the Takamine guitar, lying on her bed. She sat down and picked up the guitar. She looked at it carefully with a strange feeling inside her. Right on the guitar neck, she could clearly see David’s name engraved on it, and it made her roll her eyes every time she saw it. However, when she turned on the light and tried to turn it over, she saw something engraved under the six strings, through the sound hole... She saw... Her name... engraved on it... Sophia Laurel.
