The weeks drifted by and I was getting used to the routine. My circadian rhythm had adjusted to my screwed-up schedule that, no matter what happened, I was up by five in the morning.    Reese’s tumor was finally removed and I assisted Derek and AG during the surgery. The consultant was just reading a book at one corner of the OR, peeking at the progress every now and then, and giving out pointers to Derek occasionally.    AG and Derek were capable surgeons who were highly skilled with their hands and their surgical judgment was ethical and prudent.
