2 - Bite Me

640 Words
Niara saw him. As soon as the guard opened the door for her and greeted her, she spotted the guy from yesterday.  Aiden Rivers, according to the files that she saw in the office.  He was sitting at a table near the counter with a tray with two cups of coffee, two hash browns and two pancakes.  He looked sleepy with his head hanging low which made him appear like he was praying over the food. She wondered what he was doing in the store at that hour when his training didn't start in three more hours. "Handsome guy's date must be late," Niara thought.  Handsome. Yes. There was really no point denying that the tall well-built man with fair skin, piercing eyes and a dimpled left cheek is handsome.  "He's really quite handsome," she muttered and turned to take the path on her left to avoid him because although Niara found him cute, he came on too strong for her.  "Niara!" She heard Aiden call.  His voice boomed so loudly in the store that the customers dining there turned to look at the source of the interruption and its object. "What the actual f**k?" Niara mumbled behind gritted teeth at the gall Aiden had to grin widely at her and raise the cups of coffee to her direction.  She rolled her eyes irritatedly and glared at him but he seemed unabashed. The crew and their guests paused to watch the scene that he caused.  She let out an exasperated sigh and walked towards him just so everyone could go back to their business.  "Good morning, Miss Niara. Coffee? I also got breakfast for us." Aiden beamed as he pulled a seat for her and helped her sit down.  "I ate." She answered coldly. She lied. She was actually quite starving.  "Is that so?" He sat across from her and she saw how his eyes looked defeated but his smile did not waver. "You can just take the coffee." He offered a cup and she took it.  "That's cold," Niara said and placed the cup back on the table.  "You're cold," Aiden muttered under his breath.  "What's that?" She asked in an obviously annoyed voice.  "Nothing. I said I'll just order a fresh cup," he answered.  "No need. I have to go. I have work."  She was wearing a regular crew's uniform and he again wondered who she was. For a woman with such a powerful presence, she could be the store manager. Heck! She could be the owner of the place.  "Wait." Aiden grabbed Niara's hand when she was about to get up and leave.  She looked at him then at her hand then at him again, her eyes were as sharp as daggers piercing through him.  "Sorry." He whispered before taking a deep breath and repeating it louder. "Sorry, Niara. I'm sorry for being so cocky yesterday. I didn't mean to come on too strong. I just really want to get to know you." He told her. "If you could just give me another chance."  She quietly stared at him for a while. "Your file is quite impressive and I heard you were the best member of your batch. I do not need to know you more than I already do. Let's leave it at that," she said and stood up.  "Niara, please, just one chance. I'm really not the guy you think I am." He told her.  "Whoever you say you are, I don't really care. I have more important things to do than try to figure you out." "You don't have to be so rude. I'm just apologizing here." He retorted.  She shrugged and started to walk away then looked over her shoulder to face him. "Bite me." She snarled.  "Oh, I will." Aiden mumbled when she left. "And I'll start with those darned luscious lips.
