PROLOGUE

794 Words
I remembered one time, someone asked me this one silly question. “Naniniwala ka ba sa Vampires?” I just scoffed and look at my co-league Jean while she sip on her take out coffee. “Ang tanda na natin para maniwala sa mga ganiyan. We all know they only exist in books, myths and legends. Pati mga aswang at kung ano pa man jan.” “Well, there’s still part of me that believes on that kind of stuffs.” I smiled on what she said. “Same here, iniisip ko din minsan what if makakita ako ng katulad nila in person. And if totoo iyong mga descriptions nila sa libro - like having handsome features, paper white skin and super powers, paniguradong magiging isa iyon sa pinakamasayang tagpo ng buhay ko. Isama mo pa ang mga werewolves.” I giggled in my own thought. At least, that was my thought a long time ago. Not until everything went high wire. “But then again Aireen, wala pa ring nakakapagbigay ng sapat na ebedinsya na totoo nga talaga sila.”  Sabay kaming napalingon sa bagong dating na si Railey, katulad namin ay may bitbit din ito na kape. Sumandig ito sa railing ng rooftop at sinamahan kaming pagmasdan ang view ng syudad. We are all having a short break from our office works and we often find ourselves on this same spot. Hindi kami magkakapareho ng departments but one day the three of us found ourselves enjoying each other’s company so we eventually become close friends in and outside of work. “Pero gusto mo din makakita ng ganoon diba?” Jean asked him. “Sure, why not. That’ll be cool.” He then give us this suspicious look. “I’m guessing kaya ito ang topic niyo ngayon araw ay dahil sa nabasa niyo iyong blog ni Unidentified_Stuffs kagabi.” “I’m guessing nabasa mo na din.” I said and took a sip on my coffee. “Yeah, dumaan lang sa timeline ko. Iyon madalas ang laman ng newsfeed ko these days so I took a skim on it.” Hindi masyadong nagpapahalata itong si Railey but we know he’s in this kind of stuffs too. There’s always this generalization that girls are more engrossed in this kind of gossips and fictitious stories, kaya siguro medjo hesitant pa siyang mag open-up. Sa bagay, ilang buwan pa lang kaming magkakakilala sa field na’to kaya there’s still this thin wall between the three of us. Even me is not excluded. Sumasabay ako sa trip nila but not to extent na kaya ko ng ibahagi ang ibang mga personal na bagay sa buhay ko.  “Let’s say totoo iyong mga blogs na tinutukoy ng mysterious writer na iyon, ano kaya ang balak niya sa pagbabahagi ng ganoong mga bagay knowing that bawal pala iyong malaman ng mga ordinaryong tao like us, diba? Another mystery jan is bakit niya tinatago ang mga lugar kung saan niya sila madalas nakikita? If she wants to prove something to the readers then at least she should give us a little bit of hint. So I think the writer doesn’t want to be known by those creatures. For all we know baka isa siya sa kanila at ayaw niyang mapahamak. Sometimes it pisses me off but I can’t help myself but read some kind of stuffs like that. Its just for fun anyways.” Railey added. He has a point though. We all have the same thought. Its not likely of her, she’s usually bubbly about this stuff. Naisip kong pagod lang siguro ito. That was I thought. It was a mistake dropping off my instincts and the worries of her unlively response. That online blogger, Unidentified_Stuffs was one of the most famous writer because of his multiple encounters of those mysterious “unidentified myths” that we all think as “vampires” because they are described alike thought it was not specified that they are really vampires. Some said jokingly that those are just high class aswang, kulto or illuminati because of the involvement of foreign people according to the blogs and there are so many other speculations revolving on social media. They were just generally called vampires because that’s the popular description for them. But now I’ve realized why that blogger did not specified everything. Some mysteries should remain mysteries. If you don’t want your life to be ruined hardly. There’s no escape now. Everything happens for a reason and the choices I took made everything even worse. I thought I was doing the right thing for them. But it turned out everything was just a trap and I am the stupid bait.
