Heiress 22: First Day of Exams

Jess’ POV
*KLANG *KLANG *KLANG
*RING *RING
DAMN IT!
I irritatedly went to the bathroom and did my morning rituals. I applied my skin essentials and took a bath then applied my moisturizing lotion and my liptint. I wore my uniform and my forehead knotted because it’s still ringing.
I read the caller ID and an anonymous number is flashing.
“Hello?” I said after answering the call
[Ohayo, Jess. Now get down here because we’ll be late. I love you.] she said and hanged up
That was Lavalee’s voice but whose phone did she use? It’s obviously not hers because it’s an anonymous number.
I took my bag and connected my phone to the powerbank and placed it inside the small bag. I applied a little foundation and wore my earrings then went out.
I was a little startled when I saw Lavalee’s tiger outside my door. Actually, it was seated on the middle of the hallway. I looked at Irene, who’s room is across mine and she too looked confused.
The tiger stood and walked downstairs so we did too. I guess it wants us to follow. The tiger seemed groomed and had taken a bath too. All in all the tiger is screaming wealth and status even if it’s just a little tiger cub.
When we got downstairs, the tiger cub ran to Lavalee’s direction – or not? It stopped in front of Jace and sat
“Very good, Mnemosyne.” Jace said and tapped the little tiger’s head
“Aww Mne’s shy. Did Jace’s compliment make you shy?” Lavalee teased and carried the little tiger.
“Let’s have breakfast.” Chelsea said so we followed her to the Dining room.
“Ah Ms. Lavalee, Ms. Chelsea, Ms. Irene., Ms. Jess.” Napatingin kami kay Caspian
“What? And please drop the Miss.” Sabi ni Irene
“Kailangan rin ba namin mag-exam?” tanong niya
“Yeah. We’re enrolled.” Sabi naman ni Jace kaya parang pinagbagsakan ng langit at lupa yung tatlo; Ethan, Elijah at Caspian
“Why?” tanong niya at nag-iwasan ng tingin yung lima
“Lady Lavalee.” Biglang lumapit yung mga body guards na pinadala ni Frost.
“Why?” Lavalee asked in a cold manner
“A letter arrived.” The guard said and gave the letter to Lavalee
“Vedo.” Lavalee said and the body guard left.
We stood up and went to the garage. I went to the car and as usual Caspian’s there, ready to start the car. His phone suddenly rang.
“Hello, mahal. Ah oo may binabantayan ako eh.” I heard him say
“Sige mamaya nalang ulit. Ihahatid ko pa si Miss Jess.” He said and placed down his phone
“You know, you can go home already.” I told him
“Hindi pwede, Jess. May tungkulin kaming dapat gampanan.” He said
“Okay.” I said
“Alam mo ba, Miss Jess – Jess.” I corrected him
“Sige na nga. Alam mo ba, Jess, yung girlfriend ko ngayon, waitress siya sa isang café. Ang daming ngang nagkakagusto sa kanya. Minsan iniisip ko hindi ko siya deserve.” He said while driving
My brow raised unintentionally. I mean I don’t really mean to be rude but why is he telling me this? I didn’t ask him to tell me his love life if I can recall.
“You don’t?” I asked him
“Iniisip ko lang kasi, yung mga kasabayan ko manligaw mga may mga desenteng trabaho sila. May magandang kinabukasan siya sa kanila.” He said
“Your job is decent.” I pointed out
“Alam ko pero lagi akong walang oras sa kaniya. Dati nakita ko siyang may kausap na lalaki, tapos lagi pa siyang tinitext. Isang beses, nakita ko siyang hinalikan nung lalaki kaya ang ginawa ko sinuntok ko yung lalaki tapos hinigit yung girlfriend ko paalis.” He said and I can already imagine what had happened
“Did you get mad at her?” I asked him my voice almost faded
Good thing he didn’t notice because it’s raining.
“Siyempre nung nagmamaneho ako pauwi galit pero nung makarating kami sa bahay nag-sorry ako sa kanya.” He said which made me confused
“You didn’t call her names? Badmouthed her?” I asked
“Bakit ko naman gagawin yun? Nag-sorry lang ako sa kanya tapos tinanong ko siya.” he asked and I raised my brow at him
“Why did you say sorry?” I asked confused
Kasi he should be mad kasi girlfriend niya yun and the guy kissed her. I mean in ususal scenes the guy would get mad, diba?
“Kasi naging makitid ang utak ko. Tinanong ko siya kung sino yung lalaki, kung bakit niya kausap at ka text lagi, alam mo ang sinagot niya? Kinakapatid niya yung lalaki at nagkataong ex ng pinsan niya. Lasing yung lalaki kaya siya nahalikan.” He explained
I can’t believe what Im hearing. Lieutenant Caspian Sandoval is too good to be true, he’s a prince charming and I can see that his girlfriend is lucky to have him.
“Sana lahat ganyan.” I blurted out softly
“Nakadepende kasi yung response sa pagtingin mo sa tao, sa tiwala mo sa kanya. Nung una aaminin ko, iniisip ko kung bakit, kailan niya pa ako niloloko pero nung wala akong maisip na dahilan tinanong ko siya. Mahirap kasi mag-conclude. Makakasakit at masasktan tayo.” He said and stopped the car
He pulled out an umbrella and he went out first then I went out next.
Pinayungan niya ko hanggang sa makarating kami sa building namin. Pagkapasok namin sa building ay inabutan agad kami ni Chelsea ng papel.

“Do we all have the same sched?” Irene asked
“Of course. Though we had to pull some strings with the seating arrangement.”Chelsea shrugged her shoulders
“How is it going to be?” Lavalee asked
“Irene and Elijah would be seated on square 15:17 and 16:17, Jess and Caspian on square 1:17 and 2:17, Ethan and I would be on square 3:14 and 4:14. Lavalee would be on square 4:2 while Jace would be on 5:3. We didn’t change their seating arrangement, if you want to know and the seating arrangement would be the arrangement for all the examination except the Self Defense Examination of course.” Chelsea said
“We’re all set then.” I said and we went to our room.
When we arrived in Room 309 and the boys seemed confused on where to sit.
“Uh Jess ano yung 9:17?” tanong ni Caspian kaya natawa ako
The floor of the room has is a 20X20 tile setting and for every tile from the third row there is an armchair so that means the counting begins at the third row. I counted the rows and column. And when I saw our seat, I noticed that Chelsea chose it perfectly.
The position is perfect for exchanging notes and papers secretly. I quickly understood what Chelsea wants us to do. Two tiles are vacant and that would serve as our aisle.
“Jess, paano mo nasabing dito nga tayo pinapaupo?” tanong ni Caspian
“Count the row and column, you’ll see.” Sagot ko
The classroom soon began to get filled but some of the students remain in front because they can’t understand the coordinates written on the board.
The teacher went in and started pointing out the seats and that ate almost 20 minutes of our examination time.
When we received the papers my eyes almost fell. I mean I know that I’m a Heiress of a large company but damn. These questions are no joke.
I looked at Chelsea who’s focused on her paper and answering.
“Eyes on your papers. Cheating is not tolerated. Do you want your love ones to cheat on you? But if you still dare to, make sure you won’t get caught or else you’ll face the consequence.” Mrs. Conchia said seriously and I looked at the questionaire again.
Way to go! What a great pep talk.

I closed my eyes and massaged my temple. Damn.
Three question palang but my head’s hurting already. Remind me again why I didn’t review these lessons? Magpapa review talaga ako kay Chels later.
When I was halfway through I saw that Caspian’s really struggling. I gave him my paper.
“Ano? Bawal.” He said and looked at me like he can’t believe me
“Believe me. You need to.” I said and pointed the students around us who are unsupiciously exchanging answers.
When he didn’t budge I took his paper and copied my answers on his papers.
“Ah ano, salamat.” He said and I shook my head
When I finished the 60 item midterm exams, I stood up and walked towards Mrs. Conchia’s table.
“Are you sure of your answers, Jira?” she asked and I flashed my sweet smile
“Yes, Mrs. Conchia.” I said and went back to my seat and fixed my small bag I gave Caspian the paper I placed under my test sheet while answering and left.
I saw Jace and Lavalee outside. They’re unbelievably fast. I saw that Lavalee’s teasing Jace who on the other hand is just shaking his head.
“You’re done na? Is it easy?” she said when she saw me
“What do you think?” I raised my brow at her
“I told you! Si Jess ang mauuna.” She said and pinitik yung nose ni Jace
“Irene or Elijah.” Jace said and humarap sa kanya si Lavalee na nakapameywang
“No, it would be Caspian. Jess helped him na.” Lavalee contradicted
“What are you two talking about?” I asked confused
Don’t tell me nagbe-betting game sila? No one beats Lavalee on that, Lavalee loves to observed and predict. Sometime’s she’s nakakatakot kasi she can predict someone’s choices like she can read their mind just by observing.
Irene came out next and she looked so stressed. I know the feeling.
But wait what?
“Problema niyo?” pambungad niya sakin at tiningnan si Lavalee na masama ang tingin kay Jace
“Where’s Caspian?” Lavalee asked Irene
“I think the teacher’s talking to him. Buti nga nauna siya, di na ako ininterview ni Mrs. Conchia.” Irene said and Lavalee eyes widened then naningkit kay Jace
“Irene still came out first.” Jace said like it’s nothing
“That was once in a blue moon.” I blurted out
“Alin?” Irene asked
“Lavalee lost a bet. With Jace.” I said and Irene looked at Lavalee na pinitik ni Jace sa ilong
“That was new.” Irene said and we smirked while looking at Lavalee and Jace who seem like they have their own world.
They’re in a staring contest naman and walang may balak umiwas ng tingin. I’m surprised nakakaya ni Jace titigan ng matagal yung auburn eyes ni Lavalee.
“Uh salamat ah.” Caspiana nd Elijah came out next.
Ethan and Chelsea came out last and we went to our last room for our exam which is ICT. I’m betting my porsche that Lavalee and Chelsea would ace that one. They’re the tech geeks of the g**g anyway.
