Heiress 11: Pestilent Tag

Lavalee’s POV

As expected, Chelsea won all of her match swiftly. She’s currently on her last match. The championship match where she has to face a hacker.

 They’re playing Chess on the laptop and the guy kept on trying to use cheats but knowing how Chelsea hated that kind of tactic on super computers, she blocked all the possible cheat codes by placing a glitch bug on the main game so that neither of the sides can tamper or alter anything.

“Bakit di ka sumali?” I asked Icarus and I heard him scoff

“Kasali kayo nina Irene? Wag na!” he said making me chuckle

“Masyado mo namang pinahalatang threatened ka sa mga anghel ni kamatayan.” Jaxith said and placed his arms on my shoulder

“Seriously? Anghel ni Kamatayan? Death’s Angels? Where did that came from?” I asked him and they ruffled my hair

“I heard you got your first warning.” Icarus said out of the blue

“Chismoso!” we both said and hit him

“Pero seryoso, Lav, bakit?” Jax was the next one to ask so I shrugged my shoulder and I heard them sighed

“Sinong nagsabi?” I asked and they both diverted their gaze.

I guess I know where they heard it.

“Wag na. I can manage. You don’t have to worry, I’m fine.” I said and leaned on the seat then I saw that Chelsea won after a minute had passed.

“Bakit nga?” they asked and I shook my head

“Don’t worry about it. Everything’s fine.” I said

“Basta nandito lang kami lagi.” They said and I nodded.

“Let’s welcome! Our Chess Of Luck Champion! Talia Go!” the facilitator said and I saw that Chelsea’s cover name, Talia Go is now on the first rank, Irene and Jess were removed from their rank, Jess is now on the second while Irene’s on the third.

“Congratulations, Chelsea.” I said on the earpiece then I heard that Irene and Jess also congratulated Chelsea.

Jess came back to the building when the Chess of Luck is halfway done so that I can go here.

It’s not neccessary that we need to leave two inside the building we just need to raise our guards, we can’t let our guard down especially in a place like this.

“Sasali kayo sa next game?” I asked them both

“At ikaw naman ang kalaban? Tingin mo?” Jaxith asked while laughing

“Hindi nga kami sumali nung sila ang kalaban ikaw pa kaya ang kalabanin. You’re crazy, Lav.” Icarus said

“Then how about your grades?” I asked and they shook their heads

“I’m just here because of the student council, Lav.” Jaxith replied and Icarus nodded

“Suit yourself.” I said and shrugged my shoulder where theire arms are on

“Barkadang barkada ang itsura niyo.” We turned to one who spoke, Irene.

“Barkada naman kasi talaga kami.” Icarus replied and Irene threw me a bag.

“Iniwan mo. Nagiging messenger niyo na talaga ako eh. Where’s my fee?” she said then sat beside us.

“Iniwan mo si Jess doon.” Jaxith said

“May kausap siya. She’s chatting with Bryle.” Irene said and chuckled

“Why did you left me, huh?!” we heard Jess asked irritated

“May kalandian ka eh.” Irene replied like it’s nothing

“Don’t worry I’m on my way.” We heard Chelsea replied

“Congratulations again, Chels.” We said in the earpiece

“Thanks. See you guys in the building.” Chelsea said and we both stood up

“Saan kayo?” Jaxith asked us

“Tinatawag kami ni Chelsea.” Irene replied and we ran to the building when we arrived there we walked beside Chelsea then went to the second floor.

Chelsea looked at me meticulously from head to toe then turned to her iPad and took a picture of me. She showed me what I should wear to move freely

I went to our room and changed into a black sando, a leather jacket and a pair of high denim shorts that reaches up to my mid-thigh. I wore my leather boots that reaches three inches below the knees and went out.

Jess tied my hair up in a ponytail then she handed me a whip. I placed the whip in my waist and tied it lik a belt to the point that you won’t notice it’s a whip. I placed a kunai on my pocked in my thigh and then placed two kunai’s on the pocket of my boots. I also hid a g*n on my leather jacket and a magazine.

I don’t get why Jess needed to apply make up. I wore the specialized contact lenses, like the one that Irene wore on the Death Maze. I took a smoke bomb and then took my katana and placed it like a sling bag on my back.

Seriously, I looked like killing machine when I saw myself earlier. I left the building at 4:30, I made sure I already dinner and had already brushed my teeth. I also drank a lot of water to be sure.

“Whoah! You seriously became death’s angel.” Icarus commented when they saw me

“You look like a hot killing machine, Lav. Patay ka sa kuya mo pag nakita niya yang suot mo.” Jaxith said and I shook my head

“Why? Isusumbong mo’ko?” I taunted and he shook his head then placed his arm on my shoulder

“Stay safe, Lav.” They said and I nodded and went to where the participants are going to register in.

After registering and scanning my metal bracelet I sat on the chair between the two.

“Wala ba kayong paperworks?” I asked them and Jaxith shook his head.

“Ayan ipinasa sa VP yung trabaho!” Jaxith said and pointed at Icarus which made the latter shrug

“President na president, Tamad.” Jaxith said and Icarus jokingly punched him on his arms lightly

“Para kayong mga bata.” I told them

“Sorry, mama!” Jaxith and Icarus sarcastically teased making me shake my head.

Sometime’s I can’t believe that these two really belong to the dark side of the world because they are too carefree.

“All participants, please proceed to the trucks.” I walked to the trucks and I saw that I’m not the only one who’s armored. The ones inside the truck are even holding brass knuckles, dussack, sabre and other types of melee weapons.

I can also see arblasts, guns, pistols, and such things that are for long range.

When we arrived at the place, everything looked abandoned. An abandoned city.

“Here’s the mechanics of the game, the game will end the moment one of you gets to scan his or her metal bracelet. Where’s the scanner? It’s for us to know which part you have and for you to find out. You can use anything to kill, this is a game where you you can satisfy your bloodlust. ENJOY!” and with that everyone started to kill each other.

I ran away to one of the buildings and fought off those who are trying to block my way. I used my katana and slit the throat of those that are in my way. As the facilitator said this a game where your bloodlust will be satiated.

I run to the top floor of the building and continued to annihilate my enemies. Suddenly, the rain began to pour. I was being drenched in both blood and water. I jumped from the edge of the building to the other edge.

The surrounding was full of chaos. Sound of gunshots, screams, and the clanking of different weapons echoed around the place and I continued to navigate my way.

I went downstairs and run a full scan. I hacked into the server of the facilitator and took the hologram version of the whole place. There are no rules to say that what I did isn’t right because if they are smart they will do everything to get an ace.

I checked every building until I reached a building that’s awfully quiet. It’s very suspicious.

I snuck in quietly and I heard several hushing sounds. Whispers.

“Anong sabi ni Boss?”

“Nandito daw.”

“Anong nandito?! EH wala nga!”

“Wag kang sumigaw. Baka may makarinig.”

“Edi may makarinig p*ta!”

Suddenly, I heard clashing and shattering sounds.

Boss? I peeked and I saw that they’re not students. They don’t have any metal bracelets. They’re intruders.

That’s why it seemed like the movements seems too stiff for students and trainees, because they’re not here for the grades, they’re here for a mission.

I walked slowly and eliminated them one by one.

“Sino yan?!” the guy asked while I was hiding in the darkness

*BANG

He shot the wall opposite to my location so I took the kunai on my thigh and threw it. It hit him on his critical point so I took another kunai and targeted another critical point. I walked towards him when I saw that he’s already paralyzed because of his critical points.

“What are you doing here?” I asked with every step I make

“Sino ka?” he asked and I took another kunai and placed it with my hand

“You know, it’s rude to answer a person’s question with another question.” I replied and glared at him I can see how he trembled out of fear

I held him by his shirt and pulled him up.

“What are you doing here?” I asked again this time with my threatening voice

“Wala ka na doon!” he said so I pulled my kunai from his body and hid the other one again

“Answer me or else I’ll send you back to hell.” I said and positioned my kunai on his throat

“May hinahanap kami!” he said so I pressed the kunai on his throat

“What?” I asked him and glared when he shook his head

“Hinahanap namin yung anak sa labas ng Eel Mafia! Napag utusan lang kami!” he said so I slit his throat

I knew this would happen. I know he lied, he’s not just looking for the Eel Mafia’s illegitimate heir but they’re looking for my friend. Irene’s not just their main target.

Chelsea, Jess, Jaxith and Icarus too.

I’m not going to let them involve my friends.

I continued to search for the scanner until I suddenly remembered what the facilitator said earlier.

We have the scanner. We need to annihilate people so that we can MAKE the scanner.

Our metal bracelets hold the parts for a scanner, I only have to know who hold which part. I checked my hologram and recalled everything that happened earlier.

I got it! The trucks!

Each one of us has the same part of the scanner according to which truck we rode on our way here!

I went out of the buildings and started killing. It’s been years since the last time I experienced annihilating people, Appa was the one who would give me and nii-sama our missions because he wants us to know our limits in annihilating and basis for killing.

“Nag-iisa ka yata, miss.” A guy said and prepared his brass knuckles

“I don’t need anyone to help me.” I replied coldly and prepared my kunai

His friends are currently holding a cestus, a gauntlet, and a misericorde.

They ran to attack me which made me smirk. Idiot.

I welcomed them with my kunais and I jumped up. It feels just like when I’m playing with Freia and Icey.

I won’t dare have a sparing with my older brother, Nii-sama.

HE’S HARSH!

That’s why all of us are very quick because once Nii-sama finds out that we’re sparring he’ll join which none of us, well except Freia, will join and volunteer to do.

I took their metal bracelets and smiled when it’s from different trucks. I took it from their wrists after killing them so it worked.

I went to an abandoned building and used the hologram on the choker to find know what I should do.

A smile formed on my lips when I was able to activate it, I scanned my bracelet and the fireworks flew in the sky.

Later on I can suddenly hear some static noise. Looks like outer communications are back.

I WON.

I walked out of the building then we we’re picked up and brought to the center again.

“Let’s Welcome our Pestilent Tag Champion, VALERIE KAN!” the facilitator said when I walked up to the stage.

I looked at the screen where our names are being flashed.

#1 Kan, Valerie

#2 Go, Talia

#3 Han, Jira

#4 Jang, Blare

Our score are just the same but because I was the one who wone the last challenge I ended up on the first place.

“Now let us ask our Pestilent Tag Champion, Valerie Kan on her strategy for tomorrow’s event. Valerie, anything in mind?” the facilitator asked so I smirked and glanced at the screen before speaking

“I have a tactic and you’ll know it soon.” I said and went down the stage I walked pass the crowd and sat on the farthest seat from the stage.

“Sasali kayo bukas?” Icarus asked and I nodded

“Hay. Magde defense nalang kami. What do you think, Jax?” Icarus said

“Useless rin naman, Icarus. For sure they’ll attack while defending their flag.” Jaxith said while shaking his head.

“Buti alam mo.” We turned to where the voice came from and there stood Irene with Jess

“Bakit nandito kayo?” Jaxith asked them

“Tulog si Chelsea, baka maistorbo pag nag-ingay kami.” Irene replied 

“It’s a miracle! Iniwan niyong walang bantay ang base niyo?” Icarus asked with a smirk

“Believe me, it’s boring. Wala kaming ginagawa doon.” Jess said and checked her nails. It’s different from her nail color earlier but I think it’s also the same kind of keypad nail lacquer.

“Kami, wala. Ikaw, meron. Maya’t maya kang tinatawagan ni Bryle eh.” Irene teased then we went back to the building, parting ways with Icarus and Jaxith.

It’s already 1AM and yet these girls are still awake.
