CHAPTER 05: CHAOTIC DAY WITH YOU

"Why would I act like that?" Nakangiwing tanong ko sa kanya

"Sinabi rin ng secretary mo sakin na yung Nova na kilala nyo ay may gusto sayo..." saad ko at tumingin sa kanya ng diretso

"And?" He said as if he doesn't care about my feelings for him before, in fact wala naman talaga syang pake sakin noon dahil uto uto ako noong mga panahon na iyon ay inakala kong may pake sya sa nararamdaman ko kahit na ang totoo ay ginagamit nya lang talaga ako.

"Are you serious about what you are saying? Don’t you know how important this partnership contract I’m referring to is?!" Inis na tanong ko sa kanya

"Alam mo naman pala na nakapa-importante nitong kontratang 'to tapos pumapayag ka na lang bigla? Are crazy?!" Tanong ko sa kanya, nagsisimula ng umakyat ang dugo ko sa aking ulo dahil sa pakikipagusap sa lalaking 'to

"just because I agreed right away doesn’t mean I have no condition to ask back" he said and folds his hands together and rest his chin on it

"Museum?" Kunot noong tanong nya pa

"What?" Naguguluhang tanong nya

"So anong connection nya sa museum?" Rieve asked

"I bet I have to turn down your invitation, Mr. Rieve. I am already a family person, so I need to go home and make the most of my time with my daughter" nakangising tugon ko naman sa kanya bago ako tumayo at maglakad papunta sa pinto

"I already gave your secretary my calling card, so you can just call me there about what we're talking about today" dagdag ko pa bago tuluyang umalis ng opisina nya

Now my plan to take revenge on Rieve will begin.

RIEVE'S P.O.V

"I already gave your secretary my calling card, so you can just call me there about what we're talking about today" Nova said before she finally left my office.

I don’t know what I should think about the Nova I faced earlier. I also know a woman named Nova, and she has been missing for four years, and then all of a sudden, this Nova Loughty appeared in front of me and she looks like the Nova I know. Everything about them is the same, in voice, in eye color, in hair color, and most of all, they only have one face and one name, so I think there is a big possibility that the Nova I was facing earlier and the Nova that was four years old and missing may be just one person.

But based on Nova Loughty at the banquet party, our first meeting, she didn't know the person I was referring to, and she knew me because she saw me in magazines and TV interviews, and she also said that she was a child and that she lived in America, where she grew up, married, and had children. "Ayon lang naman ang gusto kong sabihin, iiwan na kita para makapag-trabaho ka na ng maayos" dagdag pa nya at mabilis na lumabas at iniwan na nga akong mag-isa

Everything Luke said to me today makes sense and points to this, pero may parte pa rin talaga sakin na gustong malaman kung magibang tao nga ba talaga silang dalawa dahil hindi ko makuhang maniwala sa lahat ng ibedensyang ipinakita ni Luke, kailangan ko pa ring makasigurado.

ONE WEEK LATER

"Is everything alright now?"

"Yes sir and Ms. Nova is already in her way" sagot sakin ni Luke, kasalukuyan kaming andito sa kwartong katapat ng opisina ko na magiging opisina ni Nova simula ngayong araw

"Sir, Rieve, Ms. Rieve is coming up here. Nova with her secretary" aniya Bliss

"All right, thank you. You can go back to your work" tugon ko naman sa kanya

"Yes sir" she said and leave immediately

The difference between the two is too big. As far as I know, Nova Martin loves colorful things, but Nova Loughty likes nude colors.

"Good morning" saad ng isang pamilyar na boses mula sa likuran ko

"Ah, Good morning. Ms. Nova" bati sa kanya ni Luke

"You're here" I said

"Of course" she said and smirked at me

"Of course, this is Ayane, my secretary. If you want to tell me something or you guys want me to do some kind of work, ask Ayane about it first because she's the one who fixes my schedule and I don't want to do things that aren't on my schedule because I don't want to do messy work" dagdag pa nya

"I'll be looking forward to working with you" saad naman ng secretary nya

"Sure. Anyway, what do you think of your office? As you said, we followed the design and all the details you wanted" I said

"Hhhmm, maganda at kuhang kuha yung gusto kong design. Thanks" She said while while exploring the room

"Then that's great" she's wearing her poker face again.

"After all, everything is fine. Can you leave me and my secretary now so that I can start my work?" Based on the tone of his speech, she's not asking us to leave, but she's ordering us to leave.

"Oh, sure" sabi ko naman at umalis na kami ni Luke at pumasok sa opisina ko

"You seem to be lacking sleep" said Luke

"You’re right, I’ve been lacking sleep for days and I don’t know what to do anymore" sambit ko naman

"What's happening?" He asked

"Tinanong mo pa" sabi ko at napahawak na lamang ako sa noo ko

Ilang araw na akong walang maayos na tulog dahil sa iisang tao, hindi ko maiwasang mag-isip tuwing gabi. I don't know what to do because when I sleep I dream of him and I wake up because every time I wake up from my dream I can't sleep again, so every morning I feel like I'm weak.

"Should I make an appointment with Saige?" Tanong pa ni Luke

"I am here to get the documents that Ms. Nova needs to study" paliwanag nya

"Ah, Luke hand her the ducoments and other paper they need to look" utos ko sa kanya na agad naman nyang ginawa

After Luke gave Ayane's demands, he quickly left my office and went to see Nova, who was currently busy setting her desk.

"Sir?" Tawag sakin ni Luke

"What is it?" Tanong ko

"These are the papers for the project proposal by Ms. Nova. Your father has already signed it, and so have the other members of the board, so we are just waiting for your approval to make it happen." He answered

"Oh, that was quick. I don't expect them to approve Nova's proposal right away" nakangising saad ko

"It looks like they liked Ms. Nova's proposal. Not because she is the daughter of Mr. Loughty, but because her idea is timely and everyone will benefit from it" sambit naman ni Luke

"Indeed" sabi ko

"Tell those in general management that we will have a meeting and I need all the managers to start from the marketing department, operations department, finance department, and HR department" utos ko sa kanya

"Yes sir" mabilis nyang sagot sakin

"Tell them that we all have a meeting at exactly 8:00 in the morning with Ms. Nova, so no one should be late." Dagdag ko pa at tinanguan lang ako ni Luke bilang sagot bago lumabas at gawin ang pinapagawa ko habang ako naman ay nagpunta sa opisina ni Nova

KNOCK! KNOCK! KNOCK!

"Its me. Rieve, I need to tell you something" saad ko matapos kumatok

"Come in!" She said and I went straight into her office.

"What is there and you even came here for me?" Mabilis nyang tanong na hindi man lang ako tinititigan

"Your project proposal has been approved" sagot ko at inabot sa kanya ang folder na binigay sakin ni Luke kanina

"Thank then" she just simply replied

"Aren't you happy?"

"I'm happy, but I know my proposal will be approved, so I'm not surprised by the result" she said confidently and open the folder

"If you are really that confident, tomorrow at 8:00 in the morning we will have a meeting with the managers of those in general management and I want you to show them your proposal and your plans for this project" sabi ko pa sa kanya

"No problem, I will arrive at the right time." She replied and continues her work

THREE MINUTES LATER

"May iba pa bang kailangan?" Tanong sakin ni Nova

"Well, nothing" sagot ko

"You've been standing there for three minutes" she said

Fuck! I'm too caught up with my thoughts to get to the point where I'm standing here for three minutes.

"Kung may iba ka pang sasabihin, sabihin mo na" dagdag nya pa habang nakataas ang kanang kilay nya sakin

"Well, you know naisip ko lang since aprubado na ang proposal mo, I think we can go out for a coffee to celebrate it since malapit na rin ang break nating dalawa... I just happen to remember na halos pareho tayo ng schedule" sabi ko sa kanya

"Sure" maiksi nyang sagot sa ikinagulat ko, but I think this is also a good opportunity for me to know the truth.

I went back to my office first, and there I finished my other work. Half an hour later, I was done, and so was Nova. Just as the two of us were talking, we left the company to go to a coffee shop nearby. I have to take advantage of this opportunity to find out if she is really the Nova I knew before.

"What do you want to order?" Tanong ko sa kanya, and this time alam ko kung ano ang pipiliin nya, and it's----

"I'll have black coffe" huh?! Black coffee?! Not cappuccino?!

"W-why b-black c-coffee?" I asked while stuttering

"Why? I have been drinking black coffee for a long time" sagot nya sakin habang nakakunot ang noo nya

"A-ah, yeah sure" saad ko at sinenyasan ang waitress na malapit samin

"One Black Coffee and one Irish" I said the girl starts to list down it

"Don't want to order dessert?" Tanong ko kay Nova nakasalukuyang hawak ang phone nya at mukhang may kausap

"No, I don't like sweets" pagtanggi nya, the Nova I know has a sweet tooth yet the Nova I'm Facing right now is now... Maybe Luke is right?

"Is that all, sir?" Tanong sakin ng waitress

"Yeah" maiksing sagot ko naman sa kanya

Based on the gestures, speech, and likes and dislikes, I can say that the Nova I know is really very different from the Nova in front of me today.

"Anyways" she said

"Regarding sa proposal na ginawa ko, nakita kong hindi mo pa aprubado at wala ka pang pirma pero gusto mo na agad mag-meeting mag-meeting tungkol dito kasama ang general department manager, what are you thinking?' pagsisimula nya sa usapan

"I can sign that paper anytime" I jusr replied

"You've gotta be kidding me, right?" She smirked at me

"Of course, I want to see your performance at the meeting tomorrow before I decide to approve the project you want" I said in a serious tone

"As I expected to you Mr. Rieve Elrod. Tama nga ang mga tao na mahirap makuha ang approval mo sa mga ganitong bagay" taas kilay saad, as if she was provoking me

"As a CEO and businessman, I need to be critical and be strict with everything, even when it comes to partnerships" I said

"Suddenly, your tone became cold. Are you saying that my signature on this project is not worth it?" Said Nova who slightly raise her voice

"Who knows?" Tanging sagot ko sa kanya

"Or maybe ayaw mo lang sa idea kong 'to kasi baka ma-apektuhan ang personal mong pakiramdam?" Napakunot naman ang noo ko sa sinabi nyang iyon

"What are you trying to say?" naguguluhang tanong ko sa kanya

"I heard from Luke that the woman you are referring to looks like you, but four years ago, she suddenly disappeared and all you saw was the other part of her clothes on the exploded yacht the day she disappeared" she said, Because of what Nova said, it was like all my blood went up to my head and it was like I just wanted to destroy everything around me.

"What else did Luke tell you?" I asked her as I suppressed the anger I was feeling right now.

"Hhhhmmm, It's like that Nova, you know, chased you and her relationship with you is more than just a boss-maid relationship" She answered me as if she were an innocent child talking about what happened in her day

"I wonder what happened to her" dagdag pa nya at inilagay ang kanyang hintuturo sa kaniyang labi at nginitian ako na para bang nangaakit

"The Nova I know is far from you" inis na saad ko sa kanya

"Indeed, because we're a totally different person, that girl is so pitiful to the point na namatay sya for nothing at higit sa lahat nagkagusto sya sa taong may fiancee na unlike me, kahit kailan hindi ako magkakagusto sa taong kagaya mo na sarili lang ang iniisip" aniya Nova at ngumiti pa sakin ng nakakaloko

Damn... I wanna choke her right now, If she just didn't look like Nova, I might have strangled her earlier.

"Here's your order, ma'am, sir" saad ng waitress na kakarating palang at agad na inilapag ang mga order namin

"Can you tell me, ano sayo itong Nova na sinasabi nyong kamukha ko?" Bigla nyang tanong

"What is she to me?" Nakangising tanong ko naman

"Yeah, I'm just curious you know" she said and take a sip on her coffee

Inayos ko muna ang upo ko bago ko sya sinagot "She's my maid and... My toy" sabi ko sa kanya at nagulat naman ako sa sunod nyang ginawa

"I have never met someone like you. You're such a scum, I really loathe people like you" saad nya kasabay ng pagsaboy nya skain ng tubig galing sa basong ibinigay sa kanya kanina ng waitress habang hinihintay namin ang order namin

"As a person who's sharing a face and name with her, I'm so offended by what you have said" dagdag pa nya bago kunin ang bag nya sa upuan at lumabas ng coffee shop kaya agad din akong tumayo palabas para habulin si Nova.

"Nova! Nova!" Tawag ko sa kanya ngunit patuloy pa din sya sa kanyang paglalakad

"Nova stop! Why did you do that me?!" sigaw na tanong ko sa kanya habang patuloy syang hinahabol

"Ask your f*****g self Mr. Rieve!" She shout as an answer

"Can't you walk slowly?!" Sigaw ko sa kanya, hindi na ako nakapagtimpi kaya naman tumakbo na ako para maabutan sya at laking gulat ko naman ng bigla na din syang tumakbo ng makita akong malapit na sa kanya

What the heck is wrong with her?!

"Got you!" Sigaw ko ng mahawakan ko sya braso at mapigilan sa kanyang pagtakbo

"Let go of me! Can't you see, nasa public place tayo?!" Inis nyang tanong sakin

"At hindi mo rin ba nakitang public place yung coffee shop kung saan mo ko binuhusan ng tubig?!" Balik tanong ko sa kanya

"You fricking deserve that!" Singhal naman nya sakin

"Oh, really?!" Nakangising tanong ko sa kanya habang hawak hawak pa rin ang braso nya at pilit nya itong hinahatak pabalik

"LET GO OF ME!" Malakas nyang sigaw na dahilan para magtinginan samin ang mga taong dumadaan

"Lower your voice Nova" saway ko sa kanya

"Why? Are you ashame?" Nakangising tanong nya sakin

"Hey, woman I think we need to talk this privately" saad ko sa kanya at hinatak pabalik sa kotse ko at mabilis ko itong pinatakbo papunta sa malayo

"Stop the car!" Singhal na naman nya sakin pero hindi ko pa din sya pinapakinggan

"Rieve Elrod!" Sigaw nya sakin kaya napatigil ako sa pagmamaneho at tumigil kami sa gitna ng kalsada

"Where the heck are we?!" Galit na tanong naman nya sakin kaya napatingin ako sa paligid at napagtantong hindi ko na din alam ang lugar na ito

"I don't know" sagot ko sa kanya

"Seriously?"

"What the heck is wrong with you, Nova?!" Iritadong tanong ko sa kanya

"Don't say my name as if we're close" she glares at me

"Ang sabi mo magkaibang tao kayo pero bakit apektadong apektado ka sa sinabi ko?" Tanong ko

"Gaya ng sinabi ko bilang isang taong kapangalan at kamukha nya ay na offend ako sa sinabi mo!" Galit nyang sagot sakin

She had a point in what he said. Any person I say that to will get angry and might do what Nova did to me.

"Is that so?" Tanong ko

"Malamang" sabi na lang nya

"Why can't you just let go of her, she's already dead" dagdag pa nya

"SHE'S NOT DEAD!" Sigaw ko sa kanya

"If she's not dead, then where is she? I thought she likes you? If she likes you, then where is that person?" Sunod sunod nyang tanong sakin na ikinatahimik ko naman

"Do you like her?" Dagdag tanong pa nya na ikinalaki ng mga mata ko

"You look shock, why?" She said

"I guess you're really not her" natatawang saad ko sa kanya

"Of course we're different because that person already passed away four years ago and I've been living for twenty-seven years kaya paanong magiging isang tao lang kami?" She said in a cold tone

But I still need to find out

"Let's go back" sabi ko naman at sinimulan ko na ulit na paandarin ang kotse at bumalik sa daan kung saan kami nanggaling kanina

When Nova and I got back to the company, she immediately went straight to her office and so did I.

"Seven"

"Oh, Rieve. Napatawag ka?"

"How's everything?"

"Still looking, alam mo bakit hindi mo na lang gawin yung sinasabi ko sayo na tumigi----"

"I need you to look something related to---"

"Related to Nova Loughty?"

"How did you know?"

"I saw on the news and dude that s**t freaks me out!"

"So I'm not the only one who thinks of the possibility"
