CHAPTER 2

Grecia and Aurora got home at six in the evening. They change their clothes also. When Aurora is done, she walks down the stairs and goes to their kitchen. She saw her mom preparing the ingredients of a pork sinigang dish. Aurora walks toward her mother.
“Mom, just sit on the sofa and rest for a while. You should rest. I know you are tired. I’ll cook our dinner tonight. I’m gonna wake you up after I cook,” she said and hugged her mom from the back. Of course her mother, Grecia, insisted.
“Aurora, you’re the one who should rest. I know you’re tired too,” Grecia responded and continued preparing the ingredients. But Aurora also insisted. After a minute of talking with each other about who needs to rest and who will cook the food for dinner, her mother gave up. Aurora won and her mom went to their sofa and rested.
Aurora started what she needed to do. While waiting for the rice to be cooked, she sliced the tomatoes, onions and white r****h. She put it on the pot with measured water inside and waited for the water to boil before putting the pork, sinigang mix tamarind with taro, Chinese cabbage and two pieces of green chili.
Aurora is enjoying cooking their dinner. She’s sure that her mother will love it. It’s Grecia’s favourite dish. It really tastes good especially when you sip the hot soup of pork sinigang and eat with the hot cooked rice on your plate.
Minutes have passed and finally she’s done cooking their dinner. She placed a plate on the table with water. After that she put some rice on their plate and pork sinigang in a bowl.
“Hmm… smells good and delicious,” Aurora murmured and walked towards her mother.
“Mom, let’s eat our dinner!” she said and slightly tapped Grecia’s shoulder. Her mother opened her eyes and blinked multiple times before having a clear eyesight. She smiled when she smelled the pork sinigang. Grecia stands up and goes to the kitchen and sits, same with Aurora. They pray together before eating.
“Did you know that this is your dad’s favourite dish?” her mom asked.
“Yeah, mom. When he’s still here I can say that he really loves pork sinigang, also the chicken, shrimp and milk fish sinigang,” Aurora answered and continued eating.
“You’re right, my daughter. While we are dating we keep going to restaurants. At first I didn’t know that this was his favourite dish. One day, it’s our first monthsary as a couple. He brought me to a restaurant and he said that day he will introduce the whole thing himself. He introduced the sinigang which is his favourite and all things that represent himself. Every day, he’s telling me how much he loves me and I’m doing the same thing. I miss your dad…”
“I miss him too, mom. I miss him so much! You know what mom, you and dad are both lucky to have each other,” she replied.
“Yeah… your dad’s birthday is coming. Let’s visit him again on his birthday the day after tomorrow.” Aurora nodded her head while smiling.
The time is running and they are both done eating their dinner. Grecia told Aurora to sleep and she will wash the dishes but just like before, Aurora insisted. Grecia gave up again and she just let her daughter wash the dishes. She goes upstairs and rests in her own room.
While Aurora is washing the dishes, she keeps singing her own lyrics. She already put her own tone there but she can’t afford the money she needs to release it. This young woman checks the lock of the door and windows before going to her own room too.
Aurora goes to the window of her room and looks outside. There’s no moon and stars outside. She just keeps hearing the sounds of crickets and the bird. Suddenly, she looked at her necklace. The pendant is quite shining. It’s colored silver and the pendant looks like a piece of petals of the rose flower. It’s the gift of Jimuel, her dad, on her 8th birthday.
“I miss you dad…” Aurora murmured again and she closed her window before going to her bed. She kissed the pendant of the necklace and prayed before laying down on the bed. Aurora closed her eyes until she fell asleep.
“Aurora…”
She stopped walking when she heard the creepy voice calling her name. Aurora looked around but she couldn't see anyone there. She’s the only one who’s walking inte road who looks like there’s no end.
She can’t see any houses there either, or even insects or animals. Only her, just her. Aurora started to panic and the cold wind blew. She couldn’t see another road or way there. Her heart was beating so fast and started sweating. She felt cold like her blood drained from her body.
“Aurora, where are you? Hahahaha! Hahahahaha! Do you want to play hide and seek with me? Good! Let’s play! You should hide yourself because if I saw you, you might die. Hahahahahaha! Let’s start! I’ll count from one to ten and after that, I’ll chase you. Hihihihihihihihihihihi! Hihihihihihi!”
Aurora can’t move her feet. She remains standing on the road and her tears are falling down from her eyes. Her knees and hands are trembling. She’s so afraid, there’s no other feeling she feels than fear. The creepy voice from the unknown creature sounds like the voice of the kid in the horror theme play she watched with her mom.
“One!”
Aurora is shocked because the unknown creature started counting.
“Two!”
She tried to move her feet but she kept trembling. That's why she stumbled on the road.
“Three!”
Aurora tried to stand up and walk.
“Four!”
Aurora got wounded in her knees because of a rough road but she endured it.
“Five!”
This time Aurora ran but because her body kept trembling she stumbled again.
“Six!”
Aurora can’t stand properly. She looked around but she just saw one trash bin.
“Seven!”
She endured the pain and ran and walked towards the trash bin.
“Eight!”
She’s almost there.
“Nine!”
She removes the cover of the trash bin and goes inside before putting back the cover.
“Hihihihi! Hihihihi! Ten!”
Aurora is praying that the unknown creepy creature will not see her. She closed her eyes and covered her mouth when she heard and felt the heavy footsteps near her.
“Aurora, where are you? Hihihihihih! ” The voice sounds so creepy. The heavy footsteps are there again. She slowly opened her eyes and unexpectedly she saw a black cat with red eyes. Aurora shouted in fear and that’s the reason she has been found out by the creepy unknown creature.
She wakes up breathing heavily. She’s chasing her breath and also sweating. Her lip is dried and pale because of her bad dream.
“I dream about that again,” she said in a low tone of voice. Aurora felt like her body was going to give up because of tiredness even though she just woke up. She wants to erase that in her mind but she can’t.
“Calm down, Aurora. Calm down…” she whispered and let out a long deep breath.
