Chapter 3

Thinking how my day went while walking and looking up at the pretty sky, it was better than ever. I think this is the start of something new.

Friends. That word I never got to have those until now. I skipped happily on the sidewalk. Then I saw the puppy earlier in the middle of the road crying 150 meters. A car was speeding up ahead and it looks like the driver was too busy with something

I ran as quickly as possible but I was quite sure I'm not gonna make it. Just as the car was about 10 meters from the puppy, a man in uniform appeared to save the puppy.

I stopped running and the car just passed with the same speed "Hey! Get back here!" I tried to shout but it ran away.

I ran to the boy who was laying upwards hugging the puppy.

"OMG OMG OMG, ARE YOU OK??" I checked his arms, there were scratches and it was bleeding a little. Not only that, but it was freaking FELIX

The puppy was safe because of him "Gosh that damn driver was so irresponsible, wait there, i'll call the –" he stopped my hand from doing so

"No need for that"

"Can you stand?" I helped him get up

"Yep, it's far from the gut"

I felt so flushed "What the hell were you thinking? That was so close!" I am getting all hot from I don't even know what i'm feeling right now. And he was just looking at me. "What?!"

He sat up and was petting the puppy while being scolded by me "Then why were you running too?"

He wasn't angry with his look at me, I was stunned by his question "I-I was~"

"Going to risk your own life even though you know what might've happened? Yep, no way i'm gonna let that happen" he gave me the puppy "here, take good care of her" it started licking me and wagging its tail like crazy

He turned back and started walking away. Without thinking, I catched up to him and tugged him along with me "My house is near, i'll treat your wounds first" Argh I can't even look at him because I was so embarrassed.

"I can do it on my own though"

"No" I insist, I feel like it's my fault for being so slow that it harmed him

I opened the door with my house key, there's always one in my pot plants for emergencies. When we got in he tried to talk me out of it again, is he that scared of me? Well, ouch

I put down the puppy and let him wait for me in the living room while I cleaned a damp towel and the ointment.

I came down and went near the living room, I could hear him say "Ooooh you made someone angry you little puppy" then the puppy made a tiny bark as if it was answering back "What? I'm at fault?! Hey, I saved your life here man"

That's…. Undeniably adorable. Seriously.

"I can agree with the puppy"

He suddenly straightened, probably because he got caught talking to the puppy "You two really are going to play harsh on me huh" I know he said it jokingly

"Sorry for freaking out earlier" I sat next to him and reached out for his arm "I was just so worried, you told me what might happen to me if I had done it but you didn't think well through it too" I face-slapped myself in my imagination. Dang that didn't sound too sincere

"It's ok, I don't know what I would have done if something happens to both of you if ever. What's done is done you silly" I damped the towel to his scratch gently

"Does it sting?" I asked

"Nope," good. I think I'm doing great. "Say, that was the first time I heard you shout. You were like an angry little I dunno, fairy? Dwarf?" I pressed a bit hard on his scratch

"Ow! Why'd you do that?" He said as he retreated his arm

"Oops, my bad" I bit my lip preventing me from making an evil grin. I reached for his arm again and went closer to him to clean it carefully "You shouldn't say something like that when i'm treating your wounds, y'know"

"Looks like your new owner's a sadist" talking to the puppy next to him, I just nodded at him

When I finished aiding both arms, he thanked me

I looked at the puppy who was playing with his left hand "Do you wanna keep her? I think she really likes you"

"Nah, I think you're fit to be her owner"

"Come here baby" the puppy jumped to me and started licking and wagging its tail nonstop "Oof, you're one energetic dog"

Felix was looking the other way and was rubbing his neck "does it hurt there?"

"Oh no no, it's just that" then he murmured the words after that and was… blushing?

"What did you say?"

"I said why are you alone here" it doesn't sound like that what he was murmuring about but I answered it anyway

"You know my mom right? She made me have my own dorm because she went abroad and Quentin (my older brother) has his own dorm at his university"

Now that he said that, I realized it was just the two of us… at my house….

Dugdug….

"Oh yeah umm, in the bulletin decorating–"

"Kirsten told me," I cut him off

"Really? Wow, she's fast"

"I~" suddenly felt shy asking after what happened. Now he's waiting what i'm going to say

"I– Do you want something to eat?" I asked with a smile. s**t, i'm too obvious

"Really? Is that what you're going to say?" Yep, he saw through me

I sighed "Is it possible if I swap partners with Crizel?"

"Why? Don't you like me?"

"No, I like you but" asdfghjkl I'm having a heart attack here "I MEAN THERE'S NOT A PROBLEM, but Kirsten feels uncomfortable with Crizel... if it's ok if ever?"

Dang you Felix, you almost had me there. The emphasizing was needed just to be clear to him, no other meanings intended. Or I'm just making it complicated.

"I see, unfortunately, it's out of my control. You can try asking our adviser, but lemme tell you that he's a very busy man"

I huffed, he's right "that's ok, just let them bond. I think they'll find their way to make themselves comfortable. It's not like they have to talk to each other while decorating"

"Fair point," I relaxed. Maybe I'll just say it later in the message "but my question earlier, do you want something to eat?" I got hungry from all the happenings.

"Nah, maybe next time. I should get going" we both stand up, I was carrying the little pup. Gosh she's like a little teddy bear

When we were going to the door, his back was covered up in dirt. "Wait, stay like that" he obeyed

I dusted the dirt off with my hand "there, better"

"You didn't change since were still classmates" He said out of the blue

"Well, you know.. You're the opposite, you've changed. IN A GOOD WAY" I laughed awkwardly

We both said our goodbyes and me and the puppy waved him goodbye. Felix seems to be happy seeing us send him off.

We got back inside.

Wooh, that's what you call a day

I lay down on the couch while the puppy was in my chest "What do you want me to call you?"

Hmm it's a girl "Chappie?" She just sat down, what? Are you not satisfied?

"Happy?" Still no reaction

"Oh you choosy huh, lets see" even though my head hurts from all the math I still thought hard "so Felix saved you. Fifi? Felly? Lixie?" She barked at the last one

"Lixie" I tried again and she barked again. I guess it's decided.

"Wow, you're a smart puppy! Lets get you cleaned up first, then i'll make you full with all the foods I have"

So I did all the things necessary, we did everything together and eventually she fell asleep next to me in my bed. Cute.

I took a picture of me and Lixie. And one of only Lixie.

I decided to send the second one to Felix

"Lixie's sleeping very sound"

-"You named her after me? That's thoughtful of you!?"

"Believe it or not, she decided for herself. I just helped her"

-"At least she's smart as the owner, you should take a rest"

"I should be the the one saying that?, anyway thanks for saving Lixie. Good night!"

-"No prob. G'night!

PS. I saw another side of you today, I like it better"

I stared at that last message he sent for 5 mins. The next thing I know is that I'm internally screaming. Usually when I'm alone I scream in my pillow, but Lixie was sleeping peacefully and I didn't want to disturb her.

WHAT WAS THAT?? WHAT SIDE DID HE SAW??

Oh my gosh I'm dying. And thinking about all the things that happened this day? Ugh i'm gonna cry from so much happiness!

I lay down next to Lixie, softly brushing his tiny head with my fingers. I think she's the one causing all the good things right now, right at the start of the morning when I saw her at the sidewalk…. just goes with my luck. Well, except for the part where Felix was almost run over by a speeding car.

First best day of the year!
