Present Time...
Sarah
"Hey, Love. Good morning!" I woke up to the smell of fresh bouquet of roses on my dresser and his gorgeous blue eyes.
If there is one thing I love about him, it's how every time I look into him, his eyes speak of a thousand words. You can easily see if he is happy, sad or in pain. He is just so transparent.
"Good morning, Love." I smiled sleepily and began to sit up. I yawned and stretched my arms.
He was about to kiss me on the lips but I was quick enough to cover my mouth. He chuckled and pulled my hand away and kissed me still.
It was a closed mouth kiss because I am too conscious of my morning breath. He laughed and patted my head as if it was no big deal.
I made a run to the bathroom to gurgle and brush my teeth. It took me only ten minutes to do those and returned to where he was.
I saw him sitting on the couch inside my room in his striped muscle tee and denim jeans. His head was resting on the back with his eyes closed, probably tired from work.
I was still in my pajamas and I glanced at the calendar expecting for it to tell me what schedule we have today but to no avail.
"Hey, Love. Bakit hindi ka dumiretso sa bahay mo at matulog? " I asked with my hands on my hips.
He opened one eye and then both before he grabbed my waist in a flash. I was about to exclaim when he silenced me with a kiss.
I patted him to stop because I do not want to disrespect my parents' house by doing things which should not be done when we are not married yet.
He groaned and complained, "Get dressed. We are going somewhere."
My forehead creased with what he said. He was about to stand up when I said, "saan ba tayo pupunta? It's weekend. Can't we just rest and stay home?"
It was my turn to grunt but he turned around and said, "today is Bernadette's birthday. She's expecting to see you today in the Family House."
My jaw dropped open in shock. "Hala! Nakalimutan ko! Anong oras nga ulit gaganapin ang birthday nya?"
My eyes frantically searched for my luggages to see if I have bought anything from my trips which would interest her when Billy stopped me.
"Bernadette's birthday will be spent overnight. The drive to the Family House will take two to three hours from here so we will get there by lunch time today." He explained patiently. "About your gift, I have bought one last week. That will be our gift to her."
My eyes became sad that I failed to remember my friend's special day. I am just thankful that Billy is here to save the day. As always.
"Okay. Sasabi—" my words were cut off again when he shook his head and silenced my lips with a kiss.
"Sinabihan ko na si Tita and she knew about it since two weeks ago. Sya rin ang nagsabing puntahan na kita dito at gisingin ka." My heart warmed up with his thoughtfulness so I jumped to hug him.
"What would I do without you?" I asked and stared at his eyes.
"Don't you dare think about that." He said and grinned at me. "Now, go and shower... Just get a bag and put clothes good enough for an overnight or two days vacation."
"Alright! Shoo! Mag-aayos lang ako! Will be quick!" I said and he went out of my room.
I immediately grabbed my bathrobe and towel before I ambled to the bathroom to shower. Being always on the run, I made it a habit to shower for fifteen minutes, tops.
Afterwards, I pulled out my denim skirt and pink tee. I quickly ironed them before I let it hung for a moment while I do my morning rituals. As soon as I was done with everything and applying a light makeup, I wore the clothes and blow-dried my hair for ten minutes more.
Satisfied with it, I went to retrieve my gym bag from the closet and grabbed a couple of undies and bras and comfortable clothes suitable for two days. If there is one thing I have known about Bernadette for the awesome long years we have been friends, its her impulsiveness.
She may be quiet and reserved at the outside but once you get to know her, you're in for a wildest ride. Knowing her and having met their wonderful family, I am sure, swimming will always be on the top of their list when it comes to celebrations.
Throwing one last look around the room and having finished charging my phone, I got it and put it inside my small bag where I keep all my essentials in. I also checked if I have enough money in my wallet to spend the two days with their company.
I closed the door to my room once done.
I heard Mom and Dad talking with Billy and laughing along with his words. With my parents approval of him since we were in college, anyone could say that we ought to get married and have kids. But that is definitely quite far from our goals as of today.
We are too busy making names in the fields we are both in. Me as a flight attendant and him being a doctor. Yup. The Billy Walsh I love became a pediatrician.
"Good morning, Princess! May lakad ka na naman ha!" Dad said and I grinned.
I walked up to him and placed my bags on the couch where Billy was. I tiptoed and kissed Dad on the cheeks. I did the same to Mom as she said, "magbreakfast muna kayo. Malayo pa byahe nyo."
I looked at Billy and he nodded, "Sige, Ma. Tomguts na din kami."
"Halika na kayo dito. Para hindi din kayo abutan ng gutom kapag matraffic." Dad said and we hurried to the dining room.
