The room was quiet except for the soft hum of the air conditioner. Sa kama, nakahiga na si Jae, her hair sprawled across the pillow, eyes half-lidded with exhaustion. Pero kahit pagod na pagod siya, she still looked breathtaking.
I slid beside her, pulling her close. She nestled into my chest like it was second nature, because it was. For five years, this was our ritual. My arms around her, her warmth grounding me.
“Hmm…” she murmured, eyes closed. “You smell like the ocean.”
“Sexy ba? Or fishy?” biro ko, earning a lazy laugh from her.
“Sexy,” she whispered, tracing a finger on my shirt. Then, after a pause, “Ice… are you happy?”
The question caught me off guard. I tilted her chin up so she could see my eyes. “Happy? Jae, I’m more than that. I’m whole. I’m complete. Because of you.”
