Kabanata 4: Promise

Rich:

Chantrea, where are you? I'm at you're office.

Ako:

I'll be there in an hour.

Rich:

Anong 'in an hour?' Unang araw mo sa opisina tapos male-late ka? I'm sure your dad will be upset.

Ako:

Calm your t**s, Rich. May pupuntahan lang ako.

Rich:

Takte ka, Wala pa nga akong s**o, kaya wala ako papakalmahin. Dalian mo at sa akin ka hahanapin nila Madam, baka bawiin pa ang porsche ko!

I didn't reply back because im already here. I'm sure Adrian will be surprised. I didn't told him that I'll be visiting him on his office at his house.

Madali akong nakapasok sa loob dahil alam ng mga tao dito kung sino ako.

As I peaked on the door, I saw Adrian sitting in his swivel chair staring intelently at the paper on his desk. His glasses make him look so manly. The three buttons of his polo is not buttoned, showing his chest. I wonder what would be his reaction when he saw me. He would be surprised for sure!

"Adrian," I said sweetly.

"Chantrea!" His eyes widened when he saw me walked inside his office.

His body stiffened for a second. My head titled at his sudden movement. When his senses seems to came back to him he grabbed the paper on his desk and put it in the drawer of his table.

"It's nice to see you too Adrian," I said sarcastically. I expected him to be surprised not shocked.

He stand up and walked towards me. "I-im sorry, it's nice to see you Chant."

Mabilis niya akong niyakap. "I'm sorry. You didn't tell me that your going here. Hindi ako nakapaghanda."

"It's a surprise, which means you don't need to know."

"Oo pero sana..." I shushed him.

"It's okay, Adrian. Hindi ako magtatagal."

His eyebrows furrowed with what I said. "What do you mean?"

My hands softly reach out to his shoulders. "I'm just here to talk about your promised."

I move my body closer to his and wrapped my arms around his neck.

"Do you still remember it?" I whispered.

"Chant do you really need to leave?"

Tumango ako. "You dont need to Chantrea, you can take up business here in our country. Hindi mo na kailangang lumayo pa."

"Baka mayroon pang paraan... Pilitin mo ang Daddy mo, Chantrea. Nag iisang anak kaya sigurado akong papayagan nila ang gusto mo."

Mapait akong ngumiti. "Adrian... You know my life is already planned before I was born. And you know that im going to America when I finished my primary here, I already told you about this."

He hold my hands together. "I know Chantrea. Hindi ko yon inintindi noon dahil akala ko malayo pa ang panahon na aalis ka na baka mag bago pa ang isip mo. H'wag kang umalis Chantrea..."

"I don't know how to live my life without you... I will miss you."

"I don't know too, Adrian. And I will miss you more."

He squeeze my hands. "Don't leave so you won't miss me."

"Apat na taon, mabilis lang yon." pagkumbinsi ko sa kan'ya.

"You dont know what will happen in four damn years, Chantrea. Baka may magustuhan kang iba sa sa America at makalimutan mo na ako!" Inalis ko ang hawak niya sa kamay para mailagay iyon sa magkabila niyang pisngi.

"Yes, in four years a lot will happen and change, our feelings should stay the same. That's how it works, Adrian. If you really love me, you'll wait for me because thats what I will do. Time and distance will either break or strengthen us."

He stared at me for a minute. "I will wait for you Chant. Kaya h'wag mo ibibigay sa iba ang dapat na sa akin."

"Yes, Adrian." I smiled.

"Sa akin lang, Chantrea. Pagkabalik mo iyon agad ang mangyayari," nakangising saad niya.

"I'll give you my virginity when I get back but you should wait until four years before taking it. Good things come those who wait."

"I know. I love you Chantrea."

"I love you too Adrian. Take care here and no older girls please. You know what happened the last time you're with another one." I chuckled.

He anchored his hands on my waist. "How can I forget that Chantrea?" nakangising saad niya.

I slightly brush my lips on his. He pulled me closer to him.

Are we going to do it now? I don mind if my first would be at his office. It's sexy and wild.

I can imagine him as the mayor of Riqueza. The handsome honorable mayor and I'm his sexy assistant.

How's that sound?

I jumped when something clink and shattered on the floor. That's not the sound im expecting. I turn around to see what it was.

My eyes shifted on the crystal pieces of the broken glass and spilled coffee on the floor.

The girl tried to pick up the broken pieces but she just cut herself making Adrian rushed to her. He grabbed her hand, he jammed his hands on his pocket and use his handkerchief to clean the blood on her thumb.

"Why did you pick that up?! Alam mong makakasugat yon," he exclaimed.

My eyes narrowed at them. I can't clearly see the girl face because of her hair hanging loosely, covering her face.

Napansin ata ng babae ang titig ko kaya naman hinawi niya ang kamay mula kay Adrian. May bahid ng pagkainis ang mukha ni Adrian sa ginawa niya ngunit ng bahagyang yumuko ang babae at tumingin sa direksyon ko ay parang may natanto siyang kung ano.

I raised my right eyebrow then crossed my arms when he turned to me.

"What the hell was that?!" I yelled. Silence filled the room.

Hindi ko alam kung ano ang mas nakakainis, iyon bang katangahan ng babaeng ito o ang reaksyon ni Adrian sa nangyari.

I strutted towards the girl who's looking down on the floor.

He was just about to kiss me then this girl but in and now it's all ruined because she cut herself. She glanced on my back where Adrian was.

"Did you do that on purpose?" Maybe she has a crush on her and she did that because she's jealous.

"Or your just so f*****g stupid that you can't hold the glass right, that it slipped on your clumsy hands?" I rolled my eyes when she started to curled her back.

"You're also dumb for picking up the pieces of broken glass knowing that it's all sharp and it will cut you."

"S-sorry Ma'am," she stuttered.

"Too late, you already ruined my day. You're fired." I stated.

"Chantrea!" he shouted.

"What?"

"You can't fire her, she's my employee not yours."

Binalingan ko ang babae. "What's your name?"

She lift her head slowly. "H-ha?"

She's really dumb.

"Name?"

"Chantrea, what are you doing?!"

Sinulyapan ito. "Shut up Adrian."

"You dont need to answer her."

"M-mary R-reyes." I scanned her face. My right eyebrow raised as I bore my eyes on her. She looks familiar.

That curly black hair, oval face, thick eyebrows, long pointed nose and small thin lips reminded me of someone I knew from the past, someone forgotten a long time ago.

My eyes remained on hers.

That droopy hooded eyes. I can't forget that...

Mary Reyes.

Reyes...

Oh gosh! I think I'm gonna faint, it's too much stress!

I glared at Adrian when I figured it out.
