Chapter 48

Dayn’s PoV

Kahit anong halik pa ‘yan, hindi ‘yan sa akin tatalab, mas-star struck ako, oo, pero ang magbago ang isip? Hah! Hindi. Inis pa rin ako sa kaniya.

Ang akala niya siguro ay manlaalambot ako. Nakangisi siya sa akin at nakatitig sa mga mata ko. Ako ngayon ag mas lumapit sa mukha niya at tinaas ang kilay nang kaunti. Anong akala mo? Ikaw lang pwede gumawa niyan?

I grinned and slightly twitched my lips. I see how his eyes went from my eyes down to my lips. He swallowed so hard before looking back in my eyes.

“I hate you,” I murmured.

“You know what, we can talk without our faces being this close to each other,” he says. He looks uncomfortable.

“We have nothing to talk about so why don’t we stay like this, a little longer, huh,” I said. Taunting him.

He removes himself and leans back. He clenched his fist and the other opened the window. “Don’t do that again,” sabi niya.

“I don’t like you, shut up,” I said then leans back as well and looked at the window. What’s taking Clarene so long?

He didn’t reply. He was just staring at the window. I’ve had enough with this guy. It’s not that I don’t like him, I just didn’t like the prank he pulled off back there. It’s not funny and I thought that he was really gone off somewhere or probably Karina’s got a hold of him. Hindi ko alam kung saan ko siya hahanapin kung sakaling bigla nalang siyang mawala sa trail na ‘yon. Hindi ba siya nag-iisip? Dramatic na kung dramatic, OA na kung OA, e, kung sa kaniya ko kaya gawin iyon?

It really triggered me, the flashback of Xian being nowhere to be found for fifty-two hours, that was like two days. He was just behind us, but when Alexie turns around to check on him, he was gone. Alexie was crying and I am trying to tell her to pull herself together and that crying wouldn’t bring him back to us. He was captivated by the other gang and tortured. Gosh, it was very traumatic, I was just grateful that he managed to get out of that goddamn place. When he got back to us, of course, revenge is a thing, was a thing, Xian doesn’t want us to go back but we still did and we burned the whole place down. That was the longest, chaotic, and stressful fifty-two hours of my entire life. All of them thought he died when he wasn’t home for twenty-four hours. We looked for him day and night but there was no trace of him, still, Alexie and I kept faith on him. He knew we were waiting for him, so he did his everything just to get out. I still remember everything vividly and I cannot let the same thing happen to me, whether I will be the one captured or Sxan, or anyone I treasure. I will take their last breath out of their lungs and burn their souls in hell in case that happen again. Hopefully not.

So, Sxan probably doesn’t understand why am I being like this, and I get it even if he say he knows nothing or everything either. He won’t, he will never... because he wasn’t the one who experienced it. I don’t expect anyone to understand and I know that I am responsible for my own triggers, not them. So I get it... I really do.

I brushed my thoughts off and look for my phone. Kapag kinapitan ka nga naman ng swerte, nasa compartment iyon ng door sa side ni Sxan. I am screaming inside. How the heck should I get it? Should I ask him to get it for me? But I don’t want to talk to him. Or maybe, dumungaw nalang ako? Pero malalapitan ko naman siya kapag iyon ang ginawa ko. Gosh, Dayn, why are you so stupid?! Why the heck did you even put it there?! Sa lahat-lahat ng puwedeng paglagyan, doon pa talaga?

Okay, dudungaw na lang ako. One, two… t—

Gagalaw na sana ako pero inabot na sa akin ni Sxan ag cell phone ko. Kinuha ko iyon at agad na nagpunta sa messages.

Ako:

Where are you? Ang tagal naman ng kape, marami bang tao? Come one, let’s go!

Sabi ko kay Clarene. Maya-maya lang ay nag-reply na siya.

Clarene:

Their processing our drinks now. How are u? What happened ba kasi?

Ako:

I’ll tell you later. Just hurry now

Clarene:

Jeez, okay okay. Bati na ba kayo?

Ako:

Nah, I’m still mad at him. Bilisan mo riyan, may lunch pa tayo with Denzel baka nakakalimutan mo. Masyado ka nang naiintriga sa chismis ko e. Bilisan mo ha! Bye!!!!!

Clarene:

Okay okay, magbati na kayo! Hindi maganda sa eyes when u two are fighting like this. Like serious. Don’t kill him ha! Baka pagbalik ko wala nang Sxan ha?!

Natawa ako sa sinagot niya. Sumulyap si Sxan kaya umubo ako para itago iyon.

Ako:

Hindi mo sure na safe tong si Sxan sa akin. Baka nga pagbalik mo, wala na ‘to rito KAYA BILISAN MO NALANG HA!

She replied with haha emojis.

Maya-maya nga lang, gaya ng sabi ni Clarene ay narito na siya. Inabot niya sa amin ang mga kape namin at nagdrive pabalik sa farm. Hindi pa rin kami nag-iimikan ni Sxan. Wala palang pansinan, huh, sige, tingnan na’tin, who does it better? Me or him? Ako pa hinamon niya sa ganito, baka gusto niya kalimutan ko pa siya, e.

Nakarating na kami sa place. Dumiretso agad ako sa bathroom sa kwarto namin para magbihis ng disenteng damit. Mamayang hapon ay siguro makatulog nalang muna para may enerhiya ako sa byahe. Nagsuot ako ng pastel yellow na midi dress, sleeveless iyon at flowy. Sakto naman na mahangin kanina sa labas kaya tingin ko perfect ito. I put on my make-up and my sandals. Sunod na pumasok si Clarene ng bathroom at lumabas ng naka midi dress na powder blue. Pareho ang style ng mga damit namin, sabay kasi namin itong binili noon.

Noong lumabas kami sa nasa sala si Sxan. Tiningnan niya ako nang mabilis, nagtama pa ang paningin namin kaya agad akong umiwas. Ngumisi siya at umiling-iling. Gusto ko sanang komprontahin pero baka humaba na naman ang usapan kaya huwag na lang. Pasulyap-sulyap siya sa akin. Bumalik ulit si Clarene sa loob ng kwarto para kunin ang mga shades namin.

“You look pretty,” he said.

Hindi ko siya pinansin. Akala ko ba walang pansinan, bakit siya ngayon nagsasalita at pinupuri ako?
