The elevator hummed softly as it ascended, the glossy walls reflecting the dim overhead lights. I stood beside Leon, my pulse accelerating with each passing floor. The silence between us was thick, punctuated only by the occasional ding of the elevator as it climbed. Leon's presence was magnetic, his confidence and authority almost tangible. I couldn’t help but be drawn to him, despite the anxiety gnawing at my insides. “You look nervous,” he teased. I glanced at him from the corner of my eye. His chiseled features were set in a calm, almost impassive expression, but I knew better. Beneath that cool exterior was a man who could be both passionate and cruel, sometimes in the same breath. I had seen both sides of him, and tonight, I was stepping into that unpredictable territory once more.
