Lesson Fifteen

Sacrifice

                 “Ditching na naman! Isama mo si Randall!”

- Princess Xanara –

            Hindi ko pinansin si Divina. I do need some air. Nagsanib pwersa sina Sushame at Sage sa court, pareho silang nando’n. Di ako makahinga sa dalawang malantod na ‘yon. Ang court ay para sa team at hindi para sa paglalandian. Kairita. Iba-banned ko na ‘yang mga ‘yan.

            Nagpunta ako sa Archers Inc. Yung mataas na building sa may Central Fair. May tower sila na sobrang taas. Kapag nahulog ka dito, halfway palang wala ka nang malay. Yan ang tinatawag na matagal na kamatayan. xD

            I took a deep breath.

            Then jump.

            Ramdam ko ang hangin na binubuhat ako. Hindi naman ako takot na lumagapak sa lupa. Sigurado kasi akong hindi mangyayari ‘yon. Ang kailangan ko lang, maka-adjust sa ere. Ang kailangan lang eh tulungan ako ng hangin para umangat.

                 “Where to go?”

            I just basically screwed around Sunny Dale ng lumilipad. Hindi yung lipad na parang si Darna o si Superman. Exaggerated masyado ‘yon. Yun yung lipad na ang hangin ang nag-aangat sa katawan ko.

                  “Tss. Naniniwala ako pramis.”

            I cleared my throat at seryosong humarap kay Summer. “You came from The Sector right? Do you know anything about their… history? I mean kung bakit sila galit sa bampira, kung bakit sila pumapatay. Anything about… maybe their clan?”

                 “The Anderson.” She mused. “Why do you want to know?”

                 “Something private.”

                 “Zonk.” xD

                “Come on, speak up. Nag-tip ako sa’yo nung huli ah. Tsaka sinamahan kaya kitang mag-shopping kahit ang dami-dami kong gagawin nung Sabado noh!”

                 “Oo na eto na oh. Di ko naman sinabing di kita tutulungan. Ano bang gusto mong malaman?”

                 “Rosage Anderson.”

            Napakunot siya ng noo. “Matagal nang patay ‘yun ah.”

                 “What is the cause of her death? Who killed her?”

                 “Centuries ago, the first Anderson family who started the hunt for the uncontrollable vampires were killed. Kasama na du’n si Rosage. She’s a kid back then. She was killed by a vampire soon named by her clan as Regina Schneider.”

            Halos mahulog ako sa kinauupuan ko. A Schneider. The Sector holds a strong rage towards the Schneider twins. I never heard that Regina Schneider being mentioned by those two. But I know one who could link to it.

            Their mother.

                 “And then? What happened?”

                 “A heart was found in the crime scene but never matched to any of the Andersons. It was recognized to be Regina’s. But another peculliar thing is that… Rosage’s body went missing and was never found.”

            Posible ngang si Regina Schneider ang nag-turn kay Rosage. At nakuha niya kung anumang ang kapangyarihang taglay ng transmittor niya. Now the puzzle starts with Regina Schneider. Cyrus had killed her before. Kung si Cyrus nga ang dumukot ng puso ni Regina to kill her, then hindi ba dapat ay alam niya kung anong mga sumunod na nangyari?

                 “Summer, salamat ah. Kita tayo next time, I have to hurry!”

            Lumipad ako papuntang Saint Claire. Just then I realized na gabi na. Sana maabutan ko pa si Cyrus do’n. Hindi ako pwedeng makita ni Zero ngayon. Marami siyang malalaman sa isang tingin palang sa akin. At kahit pa itaas ko ang guard ko, maghihinala pa rin siya.

            And Sage would sense that eventually. Ayokong may malaman sila ni kahit maghinala sila ayoko rin. Masisira ang plano ko.

            Pagtuntong ko ng Pentagon, sarado na ang ilaw sa mga hallway. Wala na yata sila. Syet, sayang. Ayokong magpunta ng Crescent. Makakapatay ako ng bruhang vampire kapag nakita ko siya. = 3=

                 “Aaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhh!” matinis na tili.

            At natigilan ako. My heart shattered into pieces as I felt one of the links of my bloodline began fading.

                 “KREYA!”

            Binuksan ko kaagad ang pintuan ng isa sa mga classrooms at nakita kong naroon sina Sage at Zero kasama si Kreya na iyak ng iyak habang may dugong tumutulo mula sa kanyang mumunting leeg.

                 “Zero, bitawan mo si Kreya!”

            He only looked at me but he continued sucking blood from Kreya.

            In no time, nagdatingan ang lahat. Sina Cyrus na sumubok lumapit but was brushed off by Sage’s unbelievable strength. Wala ring nagawa ang apoy ni Naya. For some sudden reason, a wind blew it off at alam ng lahat na hindi galing sa akin ‘yon.

            This is chaos.

            Tinanggal ko ang contact lens ko. My right eye revealed the darkness of my pupils and the entire round of it. That moment they knew. It was Cyathea. The most sinful, destructive, evil power only a princess of Euenessia held and possessed. Only me. I and I alone.

                 “Stop.” Sage commanded him, aware of who I am.

            Binitawan ni Zero si Kreya and Shin took her in his arms. Pinunasan ni Zero ang nagkalat na dugo sa kanyang labi habang pumuposisyon para protektahan si Sage.

                 “Kill her.”

            I looked past my arms as Randall took a protective stance to me. I looked at Cyrus, Stanley and Cheen. They were quite shock of the mental message I sent them. But as I narrowed my eyes, they nodded in submission.

                 “Masaya ka bang ginagawang aso si Zero, Rosage?”

                 “Hindi ko siya aso, Xanara. Sinusunod niya ako dahil mahal niya ako.”

            Humakbang ako but Randall stopped me. I looked at him. Umiling siya sternly telling me not to proceed any further.

                 “Randall.”

                 “No.”

            Ngumiti ako at hinaplos ang mukha niya. It was evident on my face that I was sorry. Very very sorry.

                 “XANARA! I SAID NO!”

            Bumaling ako kina Sage at Zero. Humakbang pa ako ng konti bago ko maramdaman ang seal na ginawa ni Cheen at ni Stanley. Ang barrier na kahit sino sa kanila ay walang makakapag-baba pwera sa mga gumawa nito.

                 “Hindi ka niya mahal. Alam mo ‘yan, Rosage. Alam mo ‘yan noon pa man. Thing is… you just pretended that Zero loves you when in fact… he’s only under your influence. You own his mind but not his heart. Because I own it. Even then. I owned it.”

            She screamed in frustration. I eyed her and she yelled in pain. It was obvious that my eye did the job. But was rather interrupted when Zero came in flashing towards me until he’s only a breath away.

                 “Zero…”

                 “I love you. Please keep that in mind, Xana.”

            And I felt it.

            The mixed torture of pain and the most sweetest zenith of pleasure when he kissed my lips like he’s drawing his life from me. Yet it was torture for a steely knife is buried on my stomach deeply it hurts.

                 “I love you.” he sobbed and hugged me. “I love you, Xanara. I love you, I’m sorry. I love you…”

            It’s funny how he can mend my heart like that. Saying those simple words. Later did I figured… Zero became my weakness as well as he is my own strength. It was because deep down inside, I love him. Na kahit ano pang mangyari, hindi mawawala ang pagmamahal na ‘yon.

                 “Forgive me, I love you. Please…” he begged and I hate the feeling that it pains me to hear him said that after taking a life from me. I am bleeding because of his fault. And he’s telling me to forgive him, begging for it.

            I looked at Rosage. She’s hurting. I tried finishing my job and I heard her yells kasabay ng kay Randall na halos biyakin na ang puso ko. Randall… I am so sorry.

            Will you forgive me please?

- Princess Cheen –

            Lumipad agad-agad ang kamay ko sa bibig ko para takpan ‘yon to restrain myself from any sobs. Xanara sacrificed herself for us to know everything. She’s dead. She’s bleeding and she’s not even breathing anymore habang hawak siya ni Zero sa loob ng yakap nito.

                 “XANARA!”

            And at this point, our heart aches for Randall who keeps on slamming his body against the barrier. Alam niyang wala siyang pag-asang makalusot d’yan. Sinasaktan niya lang ang sarili niya. Maging siya ay nagdurugo na rin ang iba’t-ibang parte ng katawan na dumidikit sa barrier. Pinipigilan siya ni Cyrus na siya ring humila mula kay Xanara kanina pero sadyang hindi kaya.

                  “Xanara! Please…” kahit nanghihina’t umiiyak ay patuloy pa rin siya sa pagbangga sa barrier.

            All of us… all of us felt it.

            A life essence has been taken away. And that life essence came from Xanara.

                 “Xanara… don’t go.” Randall cried who fell on his knees. “I beg you don’t. I love you… don’t go… I love you still when it hurts to love someone like you.”

            Why is this happening? Why does one have to sacrifice? And all I can hear is cries from Divina and Naya who shouts Ti-thees’ name. I can’t say anything. I was shock. All I can do was bury myself into Stanley’s arms. There… at least… I felt safe.
