Sinundan ko lang ng tingin ang papalayong bulto ni Lhea. Tahimik ako. Hindi ko siya tinawag. I didn’t stop her. Not because I didn’t want to chase after her—because truthfully, every step she took away from me felt like a piece of my heart was being torn out, like something precious slipping through my fingers. A part of me was screaming to run after her, to call her name, to beg her to stay. But I didn’t. Because deep down, I knew that if I pushed any harder now, I’d only drive her further away. I’d lose even the smallest chance of reaching her again. She’d just shut me out completely, building walls I might never break through. And I couldn’t risk that.
