Chapter 7 : Jacq's Diary Part 1

Em's POV
Now I understand why Tanda knows me better than I do and why she trusted me so easily back then. Ang tanga ko naman, bakit di' ko naisip yan dati?
"Nangako ako sayong ibabalik kita kay Gray but unexpectedly, Oren came back to get you. Wala akong magawa, kapag pinili kong itakas ka sakanila ay siguradong papatayin ka lang niya, tayo" saglit siyang napatigil saka bumuntong hininga, "To save you from him, I need to betray you"
"Do you know that I've been waiting for that for years?" Naluluhang tanong ko sakanya na ikinalaki ng kanyang mga mata.
This is why I choose to confront her kahit na galit ako sakanya. Matagal niyang hindi sinabi saakin ang rason niya kung bakit niya ba ako ibinigay kay Oren, hinayaan niyang magalit ako sakanya, hinayaan niya lang akong isiping trinaydor niya ako.
"You remembered what happened that day" I nodded.
I don't know what happened but I can now clearly remember what happened that day. Maybe because of the pictures.
"Hindi ka galit?"
"Well, you have your reason and maybe if I were you, gagawin ko rin ang ginawa mo. But you know, para mo narin akong pinatay"
Muntik na kung hindi lang dahil kay Jacq.
"I'm sorry"
"Not really. Wala kang kasalanan. Si Oren, siya ang may kasalanan ng lahat" I clenched my fist as I remember how he tortured me and ruin my family, "I will never forgive him"
"Oren is Jacq's worst nightmare" she stated out of the blue
"What?"
"Maybe this is also the right time to give you this" sabi ni Tanda at mula sa photo album ay may kinuha siya sa pinakalikod na isang notebook.
'Jacq's Diary'
Nag-aalalanganan pa akong kunin ito dahil sa takot na baka ano nanamang malaman ko. Hindi pa ako nakaka move on sa bago kong nalaman ngayon tapos may bago ulit.
But maybe she's right. Maybe it's now time for me to know her and how her story ended up.

I opened my eyes because of so much pain. I am being injected with so many syringes, the color of my skin is changing, and I can feel something different inside my body.
"She's back! She's back!" I heard a voice of a man shout. I wanted to reach him but I can't even move my fingers.
Where am I? Paano ako napunta dito? Anong ginagawa niyo saakin?
"I told you she can do it. She's different from the others" he added.
"She's tired. She needs to rest, Oren" then a voice of a woman next.
"Okay, you can now all remove everything and bring her back to her room"
Kahit papaano ay nabawasan ang sakit na nararamdaman ko. I can finally move my fingers.
"I'm so proud of you, Jacq"

I can feel her. No, I can feel them inside of me. Tatlo silang lahat pero dalawa lang ang nararamdaman kong gustong lumabas. The other one is sleeping and I don't know if she will be able to wake herself up.
"Kain ka muna, Jacq"
She's here again, the beautiful lady. Siya ang babaeng nagsabi kay Oren na hayaan muna akong magpahinga. She called me Jacq for the second time. So, I guess my name is Jacq, but I'm not Jacq.
"Thank you. Thank you for saving her"
I am utterly confused. Alam niyang hindi ako si Jacq?
"Mag-iisang buwan na si Jacq dito. A hell month for her. At kanina, alam kong 'di na niya kakayanin. Thank you, thank you so much for saving her"
Oh, then the one who is barely dead is Jacq and at the same time the owner of this body? Don't tell me she made us para kami ang sumalo ng lahat? A clever but coward young woman.
"She's dead"
She may be not dead right now but not so soon she will. I will not bring her body back. This is mine, all mine.
So, considered she's dead.

I am in the same bed again, being injected, and feeling the same pain just like the first time. Now I understand why she gives up.
A month huh? Now, let's see how long I can take.
I heard that they called their experiment, AEL-01 virus. I don't know why they called it AEL but one thing is for sure, it's about immortality. They want to be immortal to rule the world.
If they succeed, I will be the first immortal human and I will be known by the whole world. I like that thought but that will be impossible because I think they will kill me after that. The subject will always be a subject after all.
"Still failed, Sir"
For the nth time na sabi nung assistant ni Oren mula sa intercom. Yes, intercom. Oren never entered this room nor did I see his face. And also, ilang araw na ako dito ngunit dadalawang tao palang ang nakikita ko. I'm started to believe na kami lang talaga ang andito.
"We will continue this tomorrow. Take her to her room"

Muling lumapit saakin ang babae at inalalayan akong tumayo. We were about to leave the room when the assistant of Oren called someone
"Valerie!" He shouted that made him stop.
So, her name is Valerie.
"What do you need?" She asked with a cold tone. I can sense that there is a rivalry between them.
"You're the one behind all of this right? Kaya laging failed ang experiment dahil pino-protektahan mo ang subject"
"Accusing me again? Hindi ka na ba nag sasawa? Kahit anong gawin mo, hinding hindi mo ako masisiraan kay Oren. Try harder, Calvin"
At umalis na kami. That Calvin is something. Siguradong hindi niya titigilan si Valerie hanggang di' niya nakukuha ang gusto niya
"He might kill you," I said but she just smiled at me like it is just nothing for her
"He can't do that"
"How do you say so?"
"Let me ask you Jacq. Who do you think is lying, me or Calvin?"
I can't answer her question. But because she's asking me this, I think she is the one who is lying
"Not everyone who helps you is your friend. Others will help because they also need something from you. Sadly, but you can only trust yourself"

Five months had passed and I am so proud to say that I beat her. She only last one month. So weak.
But honestly speaking, hindi naging madali ang lahat. Dahil habang tumatagal mas dumadami ang inilalagay nila sa katawan ko at mas sumasakit ang nararamdaman ko.
"Oh, your back!"
"What are you saying? I never leave, am I?"
"I'm not expecting to meet another two personalities. Akala ko ikaw lang ang nagawa ni Jacq" sabi nito habang inililigpit ang mga laruan sa baba ng kama, "The first one is lil' Jacquiline, her mom. And the other one is Illiana, her older sister. Buti nalang wala si Oren ng ilang araw"
"Sinong mas gusto mo saaming apat?" I suddenly asked that made her stop for a moment.
"Hindi ba iisa lang kayo?" Mahinahon nitong sagot
"No, I am far different from them. Mas lalo na kay Jacq, she's weak and coward!"
"Stop comparing her to you. Hindi mo alam kung ano ang mga pinag daanan niya"
"At hindi niya rin alam ang pagdadaanan ko dahil umalis siya. Fair enough, right?"
"This is nonsense, matulog kana"
"One day I will prove to you that I deserve this body. I deserve to live and she deserves to die"
"Ano man ang gawin mo still you deserve nothing. Wala pa sa kalahati ng paghihirap mo ang lahat ng paghihirap na ginawa niya to survive this f*cking hell!"
Then she goes out slamming the door. Did I just cross the line?
Sighed.
Now I realize that I still didn't beat her...

"Oren will not be here for a week. That only means, walang experiment na mangyayari"
Walang kaemo-emosyong sabi niya habang nilalagyan ng pagkain ang plato ko. I want to say sorry for what I said last night but... I can't.
"He allowed you to roam around this place so that you won't get bored until he comes back"
"Then, can I go out?"
She sadly shook her head. For almost five months that I'm staying, I'm getting more curious about what's outside this dark, abandon, and desolate building.
"I'm sorry for what happened last night. I'm sorry that I made you feel that way. But I promise, I care and love the four of you"
I immediately hug her so tight as my tears start to rush down from my face. But then, I suddenly stop when I felt pain in my chest. For almost five months na nanahimik siya, muli ko siyang naramdaman. She's crying. She's crying so hard and I can feel so much sadness in her.
Now I know what's her real reason why she made us. Not to hand over the pain from being a subject but because she can't take her sadness anymore.
She's longing for something. She's longing for love and family. Kaya niya nagawa si Jacquie at Illiana, she missed them so bad.
How about me? What's my role in her life?
