SALLIE (POV)

Gagang Waldo 'yan hindi ako in- update kung nakapag- usap sila ni Arthur. Message, text at nag- missed call pa ako pero hindi siya sumasagot. Weird! Hindi ko tuloy alam ang kaganapan at ang i- expect. Heto na naman ako, bahala na nga. Bahala na!

Maaga kaming natulog ni Miranda para mag- beauty rest. Hindi kami dapat Hagardo Versoza bukas. Hindi rin kami pwedeng ma- Luz Valdez. Kapag na- Luz Valdez kami bukas sa contest na ito. Pati ang graduation namin ay Luz Valdez na rin. Kalerky!

Kinabukasan ay nakakapagod ang rehearsals para sa dance number ng lahat ng candidates pati na rin ng blocking sa stage. Kung saan pupwesto at saan rarampa. Hindi ko pinangarap maging beauty queen ah. Nakakangarag pala. Kaya nga engineering ang kinuha ko eh. Ka- stress!

Pagsapit ng alas- otso ng gabi! Coronation night na! Lahat kami ay nakaabang na sa backstage. 

"Goodluck sa atin! Laban huh?" Saad ko kina Ancient at Miranda.

"Goodluck! Galingan natin!" Tugon naman ni Ancient na naka- full smile pa. Parang hindi kinakabahan palibhasa napaka- perfect. 

"Goodluck! Hoooh!" Itong si Miranda ang halatang kabado. Kaloka!

Hinawakan ko siya sa magkabilang balikat. "Kaya natin 'to Miranda. Kaya natin 'to. Wag kang kabahan okay? Maganda ka. Confident ka. Tandaan mo 'yan." 

Ngumiti siya at kahit papano'y umaliwalas ang kanyang mukha. "Thank you Sallie. I love hearing those encouring words from you again. Thank you." 

"Namanchi!" Saka ko napansin si Arthur. "Teka lang huh." 

Nilapitan ko si klosetang frog. Kahit attitude yan ay ka- team pa rin namin 'yan. Isa pa makiki- Marites ako sa naging pag- uusap nila ni Waldo.

"Aja! Fighting! Goodluck sa atin Arthur." Medyo OA ang hand gestures ko para mapansin niya ako ng bonggang- bongga.

"Goodluck." Matipid niyang tugon. Hindi ko alam kung matutuwa ako dahil kahit papano nag- reply siya o mabu- bwisit ako. 

"Kumusta ka na?" Tanong ko.

"Nakapag- usap na kami ni Waldo kung 'yun ang gusto mong malaman. Sabi ko sa kanya wag sabihin sayo ang napag- usapan namin. Rest assured hindi ka na dapat mag- worry. I'll talk to Miranda sa free day natin bukas. Kaya pwede ba wag mo na akong istorbohin pa. Nagko- concentrate ako rito."

"O- okay thanks." Napangisi nalang ako. "Ivaaaaah... napatahimik niya si Waldo sa akin. Hindi talaga nagkwento 'yung bakla. Mukhang iba na talaga ang dalawang 'to huh?" Nae- excite ako sa patutunguhan ng kwento ng pagmamahalan ng dalawa. Pero dapat muna akong kabahan ngayon dahil nasa contest pa ako. 

Ilang sandali pa'y nagsimula na ang coronation night. Sumayaw at rumampa na kaming lahat para sa opening number.

Nakasuot na kami ng casual wear sa unang rampa palang na iyon. Nakasuot ako ng little white dress. Samantalang little black dress naman si Miranda. Ang ganda ng pinsan ko sa damit na 'yun. Seryoso iba ang awra niya sa black dress. Pang- kontrabida. Char lang! 

"We will give our first award for the night, the best in casual wear." Saad ng host. "And the winners are Miranda Buan and Arthur Reyes from Extravagant University!"

Sabi sa inyo maganda talaga ang little black dress ng pinsan ko eh. Bongga! Silang dalawa pa ni Arthur ang nanalo. Bigka ko tuloy napansin ang pa- polo ni Arthur. Infairness maganda nga ang bagay sa kanya. Pero parang dapat si Ancient ang nanalo. Mas hot si Ancient kahit saang anggulo. I know, bias ako.

"Congrats Miranda!" Niyakap ko siya pagkabalik sa pwesto namin.

"Thank you Sallie!"

Ang bilis ng mga pangyayari. Kailangan na naman naming bumalik sa backstage para magpalit ng long gown. Ang hirap maging beauty queen. Seryoso talaga!

Red gown ang suot ko. Catriona Gray lang ang peg. Si Miranda naman ay blue, Pia Wurtzbach yarn? Ganyan kami nanlalavarn! Nirampa namin 'yun sa saliw (wow saliw) ng slow song. Mamaya na sa dulo ang background music. Tapusin na muna natin ang mga ganap sa coronation night. 

Sumunod nang i- annouce ang iba pang special awards. 

Best in Long Gown - Carmela Tiangco Sanchez from Bente Kwatro Patrol University of Mass Communication and Electronics and Communication (ang haba ng name ng university nila). 

Best in Formal Ware (panlalaki) - Ancient Villaflor from Extravagant University, gulat pa ba tayo?

Best in Talent - Tiny Winnie Marikit from Las Islas Filipinas De Unibersidad, Batanes Campus and Ancient Villaflor from Extravagant University (wala na akong ibang alam na mas talented pa sa kanya, deserved!)

Most Photogenic - Sallie Buwan and Ancient Villaflor of Extravagant University. Holding hands kami matapos ibigay sa amin ang sash at pa- flowers sa akin. Nanalo rin ng special award. Itong si Ancient hakot na eh. 

Drum rolls please... tugutugudug! Dug dug! Sariling sikap tayo sa sound effects dito mga mamsh. Ia- announce na ang final five finalist para sa lalaki't babae.

Basically nakapasok kaming apat sa top five. This is it na! Q and A na! Hindi ko na masyadong napakinggan ang mga tanong at sagot nila. Ako kasi ang huling tinawag kaya ako rin ang huling sumagot sa Q and A. Grabe 'yung kaba ko.

"Hi Ms. EU, how are you feeling right now?" Tanong sa akin ng judge na babae.

"I'm good thank you. Nervous but excited because I made it this far." Nakangiti kong tugon. Yiiiizz in English kasi kailangang paganahin ang konting brain cells na kumakapit nalang sa hibla ng buhok ko pero anumang sandali ay bibitaw na.

"So your question is, as a future engineer, will you give up your career for love?" 

Natulala ako. Pang- beauty queen question ba 'yun? Bakit parang iba 'yung lalim. Parang mangyayari talaga sa akin. Gusto kong hanapin si Ancient para sa mukha niya ko ibigay ang sagot eh. 

"Thank you for that question. If someday I will fall in love in the peak of my career then circumstances may arise. Yes, I will give up my career for the man I love and for our family to build. Why? Because I believe that love is the best feeling in the world. Letting go on something even if it's your career in the name of love is always worth it and I thank you." 

Luuuh hiyawan ang mga tao. Feeling ko ay wala namang espesyal sa sagot ko eh. Sinabi ko lang talaga kung ano ang nasa puso ko. English lang kaya mukhang bongga!

Ilang sandali lang ay announcement na ng winners. Mr and Ms ECE students plus first runner ups lang for male and female ang mananalo. So dapat kaming apat 'yun.

"Mr and Ms ECE students first runner ups are Alden Reid of Kapuso Kapamilya University and Carmela Tiangco Sanchez of Bente Kwatro Patrol University of Mass Communication and Electronics and Communication." 

So laglag na, lagot na kami kay Mama Lou.

"And the winners, our Mr. And Ms. ECE Students are Ancient Villaflor and Sallie Buwan of Extravagant University!"
