Chapter Nine

1046 Words
A week after the welcoming party that Music Co. organized and hosted for me. Things slowly sink in my mind that I'm step away from what I want to become, a singer not just an ordinary singer but the one who'd always be there accompany people when they're having a bad time. I want my songs to be the one who can voice what one can never tell. "I have numerous songs that I wrote from when I was thirteen, freshmen and up to my college days," I said to Ms. Gelani Ongpauco. The two of us will work on my debut album. I give her my most treasured possession, a notebook where I wrote all of the songs I've come up with these from when I started writing till last month. She took the notebook and scan the pages every now and then. "If possible I want to feature those songs in my first album." Ms. Gelani tore his eyes off my notebook. "We could do that. I'll just help you with the arrangement, revision of some lines... I'm sure you have your melodies for these." I nod my head immediately. "I do. There are songs I prefer to sing while playing piano, acoustic guitar, ukelele and mandolin," I said. Ms. Gelani stands up from the white sofa in the practice room after she checks on her phone and type something on it. "Shall we? They're waiting for us in the sixth floor." If a cotton candy and other sweet stuff came into life. I could say they'll be like Ms. Gelani. Sweet, charming---you just can't get enough of her charms once you tasted it. She offered her hand to me and we walk out of the practice room looking like a long-time bestfriends. "Good morning, guys!" She greet everyone in the recording room with high and contagious energy. "You know her, I'm sure of that." She started. There are five people in the studio plus Ms. Gelani and I. She put her one hand in my shoulder while the other one starts to point people that I must be able to remember and recognize as soon as possible. "First on in this team is Cameron." He pointed the man whom I can quickly recognize because of his beard and eyeglasses. "He's the audio technician." From Cameron her hand jumps to point a woman sitting on one of the three swivel chair in front of the working table where the equipments are. "Jordane, our sound designer." Then from her to anothe female in the group. "This is Kenna: digital audio editor and the twins, Morty and Martin; sound mixer and instrument tech. I bow my head a bit and smiles at all of them. "Nice to meet you all." "Nice to meet you, Ma'am." The smile on my lips froze for seconds. The way Kenna address as Ma'am made me feel that she's drawing a line between the two of us. "Kenna." Ms. Gelani laugh at her formality. "You can call her Adi. There's no need for formality." Ms. Gelani's eyes travels from her to me. "Right?" she directed the word to me. "Of course... I mean yes. I think it should be me worrying about that matter since you are my seniors and little bosses." I chuckled. Kenna keep her formal glare. "But aren't you the new major shareholder's girl?" Everyone in the recording studio stop what they're doing to give us their full attention. "Kenna---" "I saw you and Mr. Possilico. You left the party with him, right?" I was forced in a hot seat because of that. "If we're your little boss. You're the little bosses' boss's boss," she said as if she has an intention to humiliate me. "And if she's really his girl we have nothing to do with it. It's their personal life anyway," Jordane interfere. I know she's trying to defend but I think what she did add up fuel on the burning tension between Kenna and I. Kenna crosses her arm. "She's still a trainee. How about the three years dating ban then?" "Nico and I are not dating. We're not even close Kenna. "Nico..." I pursed my lips. I shouldn't have address Nicodemus like that. "You wrote your first composition at the age of thirteen?" Cameron asked out of the blue, but is a perfect timing to at the same time. He just diverted everyone's topic away from my personal life. "She did!" Ms. Gelani took the notebook that I showed her earlier and gave it to Sir Cameron. "He's a lyricist too." She mouthed. "See you tomorrow," Ms. Kierra said. I slightly bow my head to bid goodbye and pay respect since she's my senior. Music Co is implementing a strict rules regarding the junior-senior relationship and how we should treat each other. She wave her hand once more before she turns her back on me. When I saw her make her way to the recording studio. I push the elevator button. After a fleeting seconds, it opened and the person I wish not to see today is there. I bit my lower lip and step inside with my head leaning downwards so our eyes won't meet. The elevator's door closes. "Adi." I bow my head to Nico the same way I bow my head to Mr. Parker when he came to visit our team in the recording studio. "Yes, Mr. Possilico?" Nico laugh at my politeness "Nico is fine, Adi." "You're one of my boss. I can't call you by your first name anymore. The company will call me out for rude behaviour." He cut the distance between us. Nico leans closer to my face. "Call me Nico if it's just the two of us then. I enjoyed hearing that nickname." "I said I can't. Some of the entertainment's staff are thinking that there's something going on between us, Mr. Possilico. I don't want our names to be link like that." The elevator opened at the lobby. Before I could step out. Nico grab my left arm. His other hand glide in my jaw before I felt our lips touches. Nico let go of me after a few loud and chaotic beatings of my heart. "But I want to be linked to you, Adalira.
