Nakikipagusap si Luke sa cellphone habang pinaglalaruan ang dagger na nasa kamay niya "Yes, by the end of this month, you'll get what you need" sabi ng binata
"It better be delivered Luke" The man said threateningly dahilan para madulas ang dagger sa daliri niya at masugatan ito sa palad, he's not afraid. Why would he?
"lo prometo" Luke said darkly then abruptly end the call
"Elijah, ikaw muna maghandle dito. Pupunta lang ako ng ospital" Sabi niya sa lalaki na nasa tabi niya all this time, he trusted Elijah when it comes to business. Napatunayan na nito ang loyalty niya sa firm at kay Luke.
"Of course, but why ospital afentikó?" Nagtataka na tanong ni Elijah
Tiningnan ni Luke ng may ngisi ang palad na nagdudugo dahil sa hiwa ng dagger at ibinalik ang tingin kay Elijah na seryoso muli ang ekspresyon
"Mr. Alexander needs my help. Tsaka kailangan ko ipacheck tong sugat ko, baka mainfect" sinuot na ni Luke ang coat niya tapos naglakad na papalabas ng firm.
Maaga nagising ngayong araw si Yezia, nasa balcony siya ngayon ng penthouse niya habang ang aso niya na si Bentley nasa tabi naman niya umiinom ng gatas. "What a rough day last week" sabi ng dalaga habang sumisikat ang araw.
Aaminin niya napaka thankful niya na naduon si Luke nuong gabi na yuon pero ang hindi niya nagustuhan ay masyado siyang naging vulnerable sa harap ng isang lalaki. Muntikan na niya ibaba ang pader na ginawa niya, she hates it.
"Bentley ikaw nalang talaga ang lalaking mahal ko" She said dramatically
Pinanuod nilang dalawa ang sunrise pero aaminin niya mas gusto parin niya pagmasdan ang mga bituin siguro dahil mas nakakmangha ito. Lalo na pag napaka liwanag nito at mas nagsta-stand out sa moon.
Nagring bigla ang cellphone ni Yezia at wala pa ilang segundo ay sinagot niya ito kaagad "Yezia kailangan mo maaga pumasok ngayon, may meeting na gagawin ngayon" Noah informed
"Thank you, Noah" She said then end the call. dumiretso na siya sa bedroom niya para ayusin ang mga susuotin niya sa ospital mamaya, mukhang magiging hell week na naman ito dahil may mga pasyente pa siya na ooperahan mamayang hapon.
"Thank you for coming for today's meeting" Mr. Alexander said through his mic
"Pinatawag ko kayo ngayon dahil i want to congratulate you on last week's incident, you did a very good job especially Dra. Montes" Nakangiti na sinabi ni Mr. Alexender
Ngumiti nalang si Yezia as a response sa sinabi ni Mr. Alexander, at nagsihiyawan naman ang mga bawat doctor at nurses dahil may mga naligtas silang mga civilian nakaraan. "Another good news there will be new wards na gagawin this month" He announced
New ward? Maganda narin siguro ito dahil malaki ang ospital kaya mas kailangan ng mga bagong ward. But finding an architect will be hard dahil halos busy lahat ang mga kilalang architect ni Mr. Alexander.
"I've already found an architect and he will be joining us today" He said while the whole room is immediately filled with silence
"Let's welcome, Mr. Luke Zaveri" Maligaya nitong sabi at tsaka lumabas na agad ng binata sa gilid ng stage
Oh s**t, it's him. Architect siya? Damn she forgot siya pala may-ari kung saan nagtra-trabaho kaibigan niya
"Zaveri? As in from the Zaveri family?" The girl squeals behind Yezia
Bunch of murmurings was heard throughout the room, talk about how good but strict at the same time he is and how well-known and famous he is in every country he visited plus because he is carrying a surname Zaveri.
Why make such a big deal because of the surname? Yezia questions herself, siguro dahil wala siyang alam kung bakit big deal yung surname na 'yon kaya tingin niya sa mga taong ito ay nag o-over react sila.
Pagdating ni Luke sa harap ng mic ay biglang natahimik ang lahat at binigay ang atensyon sa binata lalo na ang mga babae, well except for Yezia. "Good day everyone, I'm Luke Zaveri and i will be the one who's gonna handle the making of the new ward. Please cooperate while we're doing some adjustments. Thank you" Nakangiti pero seryosong boses nitong sinabi ng binata at naglakas na siya sa gilid para si Mr. Alexander ulit ang mag take-over.
"Also there will be a new doctor from our department in america that will be staying here for some personal reasons but she will be also helping in some fields. Please welcome, Dra. Veronica Fernandez" Masayang inannounce ulit ni Mr. Alexander
Oh, now Yezia knows this one, know too well. Kasama lang naman si Veronica sa med school. Senior niya ito pero they don't get along very well. Kaparehas lang ni Veronica si Yezia, parehas sila ng status nito pagdating sa medical field. Both surgeons, Both leaders in Mr. Alexander's hospital.
She's a leader in America like Yezia's position but slightly lower because hindi handle ni Veronica ang mga residents niya.
Sadly kahit ayaw aminin ni Yezia ito pero naging kalaban ang tingin ni Veronica sa kaniya lalo na nung patapos na ang year nilang dalawa sa med school. Veronica was threatened by the presence of her. Until they both part their ways, Veronica stayed in America while Yezia go back to her country.
Naglakad na palabas si Veronica sa stage at dumiretso na papunta sa mic kung nasaan si Mr. Alexander pero bago pa ito makarating ay biglang natapilok si Veronica nasalo naman agad ito ng binata gamit ang braso nito kahit well-fitted ang suit.
"I ship them" Bulong ng babae sa gilid ni Yezia
"Looks like there will be new couple inside the hospital" Nakangit na sabi ng dalaga sa harap nito tsaka nagtawanan ang mga babae
Yezia was clearly not entertained on how the girls around her acted when Veronica tripped. Saan siya napatid? Sa hangin?
Ako ba pinaglololoko nito? Yezia thought irritatedly
Tumayo na ulit si Veronica at inayos ang damit nito at pumunta na sa mic para makapagsalita. "Hi everyone, I'm Veronica Fernandez and i'll be here for the meantime. Let's work harder and consider me as your family" She ends it with a smile then maintain eye contact with Yezia before everyone claps.
Pumunta na sa gilid ni Luke si Veronica tsaka nagsalita na ulit si Mr. Alexander "That's all for today, keep up the good work and be safe" Maligaya at malakas nitong sabi at nagsitayuan na ang bawat tao sa loob ng kwarto.
Ugh natapos ko narin yung una kong surgery Yezia thought while cracking her fingers, inilagay niya ang kamay niya sa batok niya at pumasok na sa opisina niya.
"The day has just begun and you're already worn out?"
Napabalik sa relidad si Yezia sa narinig niya at itinungo ang tingin kung saan nanggaling ang boses
"What are you doing at my office?" she sternly said while raising an eyebrow
"Oh is this your office? My bad I thought it was mine" He said while playing the ballpoint pen in his hands
"Office?"
"Yeah, katabi lang ng office mo yung opisina ko" Then he stands up from the couch and make a long strands of step towards her
"I need you" He said
"What the heck do you need me for? Para sa gagawin mo na ward dito? mukha ba akong engineer sayo?" She continuously blurted out
Iniangat ni Luke ang palad niya na may sugat dahilan para magsalubong ang kilay ng dalaga
"No, I need you to mend this" He said while fighting to hold an eye contact to Yezia
Before she caught up in his trance she quickly grabs Luke's wrist and then dragged him towards the couch.
What is he? A damn child? She thought while the train of irritation is circling up in her head
Tinulak nalang niya ang binata sa couch nito at kumuha ng alcohol, betadine at cotton swabs. Pagkaupo ni Yezia sa tabi ng binata ay kaagad nitong pinabuksan ang palad tsaka kaagad niyang binuhusan ng alcohol.
"Damn it! What goes inside of that pretty little head of yours? Are you insane?" sigaw ni Luke habang hawak-hawak ang kamay niya na may sugat
"Well the wound isn't that deep at napakalayo sa bituka. Don't overreact, man up." sabi ng dalaga habang nag lalagay ng betadine sa cotton swabs.
Hiningi muli ni Yezia ang palad ng binata para lagyan na ito ng betadine. "Ayoko mamaya dutdutin mo ko ng cotton swabs. I'll be going now" Sabi ni Luke at tumayo na kaagad pero hinila siya ng dalaga sa collar ng suit niya dahilan para mas mapalapit ang pagkakaupo ng binata kesa sa upo nila kanina.
Hinawakan kaagad ni Yezia ang palad nito at sinimulan ng lagyan ng betadine. "Stay still" She sternly said while carefully tapping Luke's palm with the cotton swab.
"There all done" sabi ni Yezia at tumingin na sa binata only to see that he was staring at her
"You can get out of my office now" She said while giving him a fake smile, tumayo na siya at binalik na ang mga gamit tsaka umupo na sa desk niya tsaka binuksan ang laptop
Lumapit si Luke sa table nito and he leaned in front of the laptop meeting Yezia's eyes even though it's focused on the screen.
"What if I don't?" He said playfully
"Then you'll see a flying scalpel for the first time, Mr. Zaveri" She said while typing
He smiled then start walking to the door, pag hawak niya sa handle ng pinto ay tinigilan ito ng dalaga. "Thank you for returning my car last week" She said then looks up to him while giving him a friendly smile
"No problemo, Mi-" natigilan ang binata ng bigla itong sinapawan ng mga salita ni Yezia
"But I'm still not going to thank you for what you did on the restaurant"
"I'm not expecting anything, Mi amor" tsaka lumabas na si Luke ng nakangiti
"Don't call me that dipshit!" Sigaw ni Yezia hoping he will hear her
Damn that guy.
Minutes passed there's a sudden knock on her door. There's no appointment with any of her patients she thought. Maybe this is Luke since magkatabi lang naman sila ng office.
" Luke I swear if you don't st-"
"Luke?" A woman voice stopped her
Her head shoots up immediately, nafefeel niya na magkakaron ito ng stiff neck sa ginawa niya.
"Dra. Veronica, what are you doing here?" Yezia smiled sincerely
"Oh, just visiting an old friend, can I come?" Veronica said while flashing a sweet smile
"Sure sure, come"
Veronica closed the door behind her and walked towards Yezia then sits carefully in front of her.
"So what brings you here?" Yezia questioned her
"Well I just want to see if you're okay, well my question is answered. You are okay"
"Thank you, Veronica, for your concern" Yezia said happily
"Actually there's one more thing, I have a favor" nahihiyang sabi ni Veronica
"Sure what is it?"
"Can I take your place while I'm here, you know? Taking care of some of your residents?" Veronica said while smiling
God, this is why I hate favors.
"Sorry but I can't do that Veronica" Yezia politely refused
"Why I'm your senior and I'm greater than you, so technically I can handle your residents" Veronica blurted out in one breath
Wow, just wow. Her personality is still the same huh? I thought she changed.
Tumayo na si Yezia sa pagkakaupo niya at sinimulan nang suotin ang doctor's coat niya "I can't do that, Dra. Fernandez" She sternly said
Marahas na tumayo si Veronica at lumapit kay Yezia "I'm still your senior Yezia! Whether you like it or not you're gonna give me this position" Sigaw ni Veronica
Thank god at wala masyadong tao sa labas ngayon ng office niya kung hindi, maririnig nila ang nangyayari ngayon, Yezia thought
Inayos ni Yezia ang coat niya for the last time
"This is no longer our med school Dra. Fernandez, if I were you I'm not gonna use that 'I'm your senior' card, if you're popular and the best doctor in America I don't care because this isn't America so stop acting so despicable"
"How dare y-" hindi na na tuloy ni Veronica ang sasabihin niya ng nagsalita ulit si Yezia
"Again this isn't America and not your hospital to lead especially my residents, don't walk around like you have power in this facility especially when I'm here. I'm not gonna tolerate you doing the same thing like you did in med school" Yezia said sternly then start walking towards the door
"You're gonna regret this" Veronica said
"Oh, believe me, I do not. If you'll excuse me I have some operation to do" She replied
Lumabas na si Yezia at nagsimula na mag lakad papunta sa Operation room.
Damn, Veronica if I find out you're planning against my position and this hospital. You will regret coming here.
