CHAPTER 1

"Dra. Montes can you come to my office after lunch?" Mr. Alexander said through the phone

"Will do, Mr. Alexander" then Yezia end the call

Napahiga nalang siya sa sofa sa office niya, kahapon pa siya walang tulog. Dalawang magkasunod operasyon ang ginawa niya.

She checks her wristwatch, para makita niya kung ano oras siya dapat lumabas ulit para sa meeting ng patient niya.

5 am. s**t napakaaga pa. Naisip ni Yezia

"I need sleep god damn" mahina niyang sabi

Nagising si Yezia na naghihingalo at puro pawis, bumangon siya agad sa pagkakahiga sa sofa niya at umupo ng maayos

"another anxiety attack" sabi niya tas tinakpan ang mukha niya ng kamay

Huminga ng malalim si Yezia ng ilang beses at tiningnan ang wristwatch nito. 9am. Tumayo siya at tiningnan ang cellphone nito if may updates sa naka scheduled na magpapa check-up sa kaniya.

"Dear Ms. Montes, I'm sorry I can't go to my check up right now because of my son's graduation. Sincerely Mrs. Rivero"

Ito ang nagpop sa cellphone niya pagbukas na pagbukas niya, huh mukhang wala akong mahalagang gagawin today except for Mr. Alexander wanting my presence in his office.

"what's up world!" Sigaw ng isang babae sa labas ng office niya at biglang kumalabog pabukas yung pintuan ni Yezia

"Ang aga-aga Tellé, what's with you today napaka morning person mo naman" sabi niya habang nagaayos ng table niya dahil napansin niya na may dalang pagkain si Tellé

"Well my design for my clients upcoming resort got approved yesterday!" nakangiti na sinabi ni Tellé

magsasalita na ulit si Yezia nang biglang may nag interrupt sa kaniya. it's morning at nagiingay sila sa ospital. damn it.

"and this calls for a celebration!" sigaw ni Aurelie outside her office while holding a cake and champagne

"Well what are we waiting for? come in and freaking shut that door!" nakangiti na sabi ni Yezia, although she's still impressed kung paano sila nakalusot sa guard without seeing the champagne bottle. Umupo na sila lahat sa table niya at tsaka inayos na ang mga pagkain

"So how's the therapy on that teenage guy?" tanong ni Tellé kay Aurelie habang nagsasalin ng champagne sa flute

nakapagpasok din talaga sila ng flute huh? hands down, ang lulupit nila makalusot. kaya siguro nakalusot itong dalawa na ito tuwing walang I'D nung highschool kami

"Ayun masaya na, and he thank me for helping him to get through it" Aurelie said with a smile on her lips "good for him, you did a good job Aurelie" sabi ni Yezia. They really love their job from Tellé being an architect to Aurelie being a psychologist, well they have a story behind it as to why they choose that job. 

Tumingin silang dalawa kay Yezia habang umiinom ng champagne. Oh no not this again, she thought. "So how's the guy that you told us?" sabi ni Aurelie

"What guy?" she said then continue to drink her champagne, not gonna lie but ayaw na talaga mabalik ni Yezia ang lalaking yun. Something about him is really bothering her.

"Yung lalaki na sinabi mo na napakaganda nung mata tapos kung paano siya tumagal nung nabaril siya near his heart. Remember? After nuon you said something happened to him pero hindi mo naman inexplain kung ano iyon care to share it na? let it be known as a gift for Tellé" sabi ni Aurelie habang nakangiti na halatang pinlano niya ito kahapon pa.

"Oh that guy one year ago. Well nagblast nalang ng code yung ospital three days after the surgery na may nawawalang pasyente, turns out it was him" sabi niya at sumubo ng cake

"Nakuha mo ba yung name?" tanong ni Tellé

"No" she said

That night matapos mawala ng parang bula yung lalaki naguluhan siya as to why umalis ito, hindi pa yun fully healed napakafresh pa nung surgery wounds niya. Another thing is his name, pag dumadalaw siya minsan sa room niya walang name na nakalagay sa papel. if magtatanong siya sa ibang doctor wala silang alam

Pero sa loob ng tatlong araw na yun may private doctor siya na laging bumibisita and that guy is Mr. Alexander, kaya i never got his name.

"What a shame, hindi ko pa nakikita yung lalaki na yun pero bet ko na kayo sa isa't isa" sabi ni Tellé. "You know i gave up on love a long time ago" Yezia said as she pours champagne onto her flute

"Wag ka magsalita ng tapos Yezia, malay mo may plano pa pala sayo si tadhana" sabi ni Aurelie

"Hm, thanks but no thanks nalang tadhana" then she drink the champagne 

Yezia sits on the chair across Mr. Alexander's table then they both sip on the tea her boss served. To be honest she didn't even know why she's here on his office, pinapatawag lang naman siya nito sa office if there's gonna be an important surgery outside the country na kailangan niya gawin. Pero bago sila magusap ni Mr. Alexander nag eemail muna ito sa kaniya.

"Ms. Montes we both know you're the best doctor in this hospital and i need you to do something for me" Mr. Alexander said sternly

"Sure, what is it?" She said after putting down the teacup

"I guess you know my son, Yuan. right?" he said then continue to sip in his tea

Ah yes, the infamous son of Alexander's. the rebel. Usap-usapan na ayaw niyang kunin ang ospital na ito, well let's say he desires for other course. But hanggang duon lang ang nalaman ni Yezia dahil hindi niya gawain makisawsaw sa bagay ng iba maliban sa dalawa niyang kaibigan.

"I'm gonna assign him to your group tomorrow, plus nag-aral rin naman si Yuan ng medicine sa Australia. I need you to teach him how medicine is good for him. He needs to know how this hospital works and know every person who works here. I need him to overcome his fear." Sabi ni Mr. Alexander tapos hinawakan ang picture frame na nasa table niya 

"So you're gonna force him into medicine? with all due respect sir, but isn't that a little bit too much?" Yezia said with a hint of confusion in her voice 

"Ever since he was a child, her mother really want medicine for him. Gano'n din ang gusto ni Yuan nung lumalaki na siya pero something happened in that make him changed his mind. Siguro nagsimula yun noong namatay ang asawa ko. I know deep inside that he can do better in medicine, mas mahihigitan niya pa ako to be honest. He just can't accept it" he said while he examines the picture frame with a sad smile.

"I just want him to have a better future and his future family before I die. I made a promise to her mother" Mr. Alexander said as he whispered the last sentence

"I'm gonna do my best Mr. Alexander. I promise" ngumiti si Yezia at nag thank you ang boss niya then she left the office.

One things for sure is that Yezia will do anything to help Mr. Alexander. after all, she made a promise. Wala pa siyang nasisira ni isang pangako. 

Paalis na si Yezia sa hospital nang biglang may nagring na cellphone sa ilalim ng table niya, yumuko siya and nakita niya na cellphone ito ni Tellé. Why is it under my table? she thought. Nagring ulit yung cellphone ni Tellé, Gummy? who names their child gummy?

she answered the phone and completely regret it.

"Donatellé I need to talk to you right now. as fast as you can, come to my office, I don't care where you at or what you're doing, what I need you to do is t-" 

"Woah, sandali lang napakasakit mo sa tenga omg. Nabasag mo yata eardrums ko for godsake." mabilisan ko na sabi para hindi niya matuloy ang iba niya pa na sasabihin

God damn this guy hurt my ears, boyfriend yata ito ni Tellé. One thing is for sure napaka toxic niya. "Who's this?" naiirita na sagot ng lalaki

"Secret, anyways meet me in this bar. ibibigay ko yung cellphone ni Tellé para maibigay mo sa kaniya. bye" then she ends the call tsaka sinend ang address ng bar sa lalaki

Out of all the places she can think about, why a bar? she thought. Well, she needs a good drink para mabawasan ang stress niya. Plus wala rin naman siyang gagawin na mahalaga bukas except for meeting Yuan. So the bar is the first thing that came on her mind. Pumunta na siya sa elevator para mabilisan siya makababa sa parking lot. silence filled her ears and mind, but a sudden thought bothered her.

 That voice is familiar...
