I woke up in the middle of the night but to my surprise, its not because I had a bad dream. I turned to look at Darius but he's soundly asleep.
Even though I don't have something to say I woke him up.
"W-what?"
"I-I don't know. I'm sorry I just want you awake," I apologized.
"Nightmares again?" he asked.
I shook my head.
"Maybe that's why I feel uneasy. I was so used to having nightmares since I came here then it's just gone," I wondered.
He looked at me and smiled.
"Then we should not talk about it when you're awake," he laughed.
"Did you--,"
"Killed the queen?"
I felt uneasy but I nodded.
"What do you think?"
"I can't think," I countered him immediately.
He chuckled.
"Because it's pointless for me to answer if you already made up your mind."
"I really don't know. I thought I saw the whole thing but turns out I didn't so I don't I can trust my memory."
He smiled bitterly.
"Who handed you the wine?" I asked him.
He remained silent and I know not because he didn't heard my question but because of the opposite. He heard it wide and clear.
"It's Jamshid, isn't it?"
He looked at me but he shook his head.
"If it weren't him you would tell me. If it's just a servant you would never protect that person in the position of clearing your name."
"Because I don't believe my instincts."
"But what if it's him?"
"My brother is many things but a murderer is not one of them," he defended.
"He tried to kill you. In front of everyone," I hissed.
"That's his mother. I know you know that, if someone did hurt the queen, I would hunt them till they can't run anymore. He just did what a son would do."
"And he just did a thing a brother wouldn't do."
I sighed.
He smiled at me. And that is the first time I saw him smiled like that.
The first time he smiled at me.
"Why did you need to run? If they imprisoned you you can explain. They will believe you, Darius."
He went silent.
I know he already have a hypothesis inside his head but he just won't tell me.
"If they will believe me, Jamshid will never have said that."
I felt a pang in my chest. It's like someone just a carved a dep cut in my heart and a tear fell out of my eyes.
"It just builds up in time and you get used to it."
I wiped the tear and turned to Darius confused.
"W-what?"
"I don't know my place." He chuckled.
"I don't have a problem inside the family but every time I see everyone, I know I don't belong anywhere. I'm no one."
"The pressure," I said, pertaining to his words earlier.
"I think you can sleep now." He turn and lie in the bed.
I looked at his back and I don't even know if he's asleep or not but I just decided to lie down too. I don't know him, at all but somehow, my mind began to think of Darius, in my time.
Is he adopted too? Does he feel the same pressure? Are they the same?
"N-no way," I mumbled when I realized something.
I got up and try to piece my theories.
Are they related?
They have the same name, the same face and the same status. The only thing I don't have right now is the comparison because I don't know the other Darius' characteristics are before he fell into coma.
What is really happening? Is this just a concidence?
