Ezekiel’s POV The moment she leaned back against the seat, eyes closed, every muscle in her body relaxing against me, I felt a rush of protectiveness I hadn’t expected. The heat of the night was still lingering in the car, in the scent of her hair, the faint trace of her skin against mine but it was mingled now with something softer, something almost fragile. I kept my hand lightly on her shoulder, just enough to reassure her I was here, but not so much to crowd her. Her body had demanded everything from me earlier, every ounce of control I had, but now… now she looked small, vulnerable, and it made my chest tighten in a way I hadn’t anticipated. “She’s… she’s really something,” I murmured to myself, my thumb brushing softly over her skin.
